NFL officiating accountability is an absolute joke. This is a multi-billion dollar industry. There is no need for these refs to be entitled to their position. There's rampant nepotism, and the same handful of men hold the "esteemed" title of head referee. Makes you wonder why the NFL is so quick to keep their boys. A fine and one-game suspension is not an accurate punishment for delegitimizing the impartiality of their sport.

This video stinks. He's had plenty more impressive runs than the ones in they chose to include.

Gonna do it, flying solo...
fridge replied to Bills fan since 87's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I went to a Ducks v Sabres game solo... in Anaheim. There was no Sabres fan in my section and I had a miserable time. I've sat alone a few times at Bills games but I don't believe I've ever driven up and gone to the game alone. I would probably enjoy that actually. -
You chopped up my post, and ignored most of what I had said, then just rehashed what everyone says ever about McDermott... so... I don't even know why I'm responding, but here: 1. When the heck did I say I wanted McCarthy!!?? 2. Ok. What does this even mean? Are you arguing that we got help to make the playoffs in the final week of the season? 3. The law of averages is a myth? I used it within the context of of describing the feeling of, "they were bound to make it sooner or later". Not sure how or why you thought I was referring to something genuinely statistical (there is, by the way, a very real predictor method that would state that probability-wise it was nearly impossible for the Bills to make the playoffs for 17 consecutive seasons).

I think anointing McDermott because we backed our way into the playoffs is wrong. We had a season similar to a handful of other ones over that 17 year span. I attribute the playoffs to the law of averages. McDermott did his best to try and miss them though, see: Peterman, Nathan. I went to two games last year, LA Chargers and JAX Jaguars, and both were miserable. For different reasons our team looked completely ill prepared. In the Jaguars game, we scored 3 points. We had this huge moment where we finally make the playoffs as you say, and he laid an egg. The drive before the half in that game where we allowed Blake Bortles to run all over the field while we were running prevent defense was textbook playing not to lose, and look what happened. If you're going to use one season as a sample, why not this one? You and other posters might be enamored with McDermott, but I'm not going to look past the following: Mis-management of the QB position (last year and this year) Trading out of the Mahomes pick Hiring Rick Dennison (former defensive player) as our OC Hiring Brian Daboll, a thrice failed OC Cutting our punter on a weekly basis Calling Timeouts like they grow on trees just to check the offensive formation Never getting a coaches challenge correct Situationally archaic (especially at the end of halves) Getting blown out an incredible amount of times in his first 25 games (too lazy to look up the number, but it's high) Saying "culture over strategy" Ignoring the offensive line in favor of signing the oft-injured Trent Murphy who, surprise, is often injured Preaching the process then trading for and praising Kelvin Benjamin Trading away Darby for Jordan Matthews and a pick Mentioning that we need the type of players that can play in the weather Pretending that "Buffalo Football" means hard nosed football, when in reality our best years were the most modern passing offense of the 1990's

Allen's Last Pass (12/2): Bad Pass or Drop?
fridge replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bad pass, worse drop. I still voted pass though. I think Allen could have corrected his feet and got it in there. He avoided their rush so well I don't think he realized how much time he gave himself. For Clay, he did about all he could. If he caught it, it would have been an incredible diving catch. -
This is not a WGR message board, and yet every week people create threads in here as if we all tune in. I don't mind Schopp or Parker, or any of the on-air talent in Buffalo. Do you know how hard it is to talk about two sports teams for 20 hours a week? I don't really listen that often, and if they're going in a direction I don't care for, I turn it off. Is that so hard to do? If I disagree with someone I don't think they're an idiot for that reason alone.

I put those coaches on par with McDermott. Aside from Hue Jackson, they've each had more success. If you can't tell, I'm really unimpressed with McDermott.

You really have try hard to find a coach I want less than McDermott, but congratulations OP, you've done it.

The First Play of the Sean Taylor Game.
fridge replied to whatdrought's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember that game. Crazy, it was ten years ago now. I've never been one to care that much about symbolic gestures, and fielding 10 guys for one play is a lame way to show respect. Had we kneeled, I'm sure people would have said how classy it was, but I would just think it was 2nd down. -
An NFL Rule Question About Assisting a Runner
fridge replied to PUNT750's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your post and the Cleveland touchdown from yesterday reminds me of a question I had once when I was a little kid. Theoretically could you not get a super lightweight player to get the hand off, then hoist him up and have him get carried by like 4 lineman who just sort of hold him high and behind as you slowly move down the field? The other players would then start blocking in front and it would make it very hard to knock him down. -
where can i buy the hat mcdermott is wearing?

Is Sean McDermott The Toughest Coach In The NFL!?!?
fridge replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My top 5: Mike Vrabel Vance Joseph Dan Quinn Mike Tomlin Sean McDermott Other guys that should get considered, like Rivera, are too old and I kept my list under 50. Shanahan and McVay were left off because I'm not even sure they could take me, let alone Coach Process who dead lifts at 5am every morning. Edit: a lot of people have mentioned Del Rio. He's not a coach or he'd top my list. He could beat people up with his neck alone. -
Kyle William's...my gut tells me he comes back.
fridge replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I want him to come back and be on a team that wins in the playoffs, but honestly we're a couple years away from that. Last year was a tease and it sucked Kyle into believing the coach was special. I think he retires and there's no shame there. -
