I watched that "block in the back" play several times. I couldn't see the player called #30 (apparently Pitts the CB) on any of the plays or the alleged "block in the back" on any angle. In addition why would a kicking team player ever block in the back on their own punt???? Never seen that call in almost 40 years of watching football, NFL, NCAA, CFL, USFL or even XFL!!! Call makes no sense. Romo and Nantz didn't even question it.

The Refs were mediocre the whole game but those two calls against the Bills were inexcusable. The one that McD challenged was an obvious incomplete pass. You would have to be blind not to see it. The one vs White was a little more debatable but looked like a hard tackle that the receiver turned into and the heads met after the bodies had collided. I'm glad that McD got mad, it definitely probably made the refs think twice about calling some more dubious calls.

I didn't watch the previous 2 Browns games where Tyrod looked (in the hilites anyway) better than last year. Last night he was back to the same Tyrod we had for the 2nd and 3rd year. That pass in the first half where he underthrew the receiver on the long bomb who had at least 5 yards on the db was vintage Tyrod of the past 2 years. Then there were all those throws that people were open but the ball was thrown out of reach. The only thing I didn't see that we have come to expect, was the Tyrod throw to an open receiver that is 3 yards out of bounds. He also isn't anywhere as elusive as he was in year 1 with was. That escapability has vanished. Mayfield has to be the starter from now until an injury.

I generally liked Tyrod and wished him all the best for the Browns, rooting for him in this game but he just looked like the same Tyrod from last year = absolutely maddening!

Strangely I can remember the game that got Bullough finally fired in 1986 at Tampa. I had to look it up to confirm on Wikipedia, but my memory of that season and that particular game was that Kelly was the shining star on a really bad team. I can remember him at his gunslinging best, fighting right to the end when the Bills fell just slightly short. For whatever reason, maybe because it was such a tough loss, Ralph had had enough and fired Bullough. Then the next week, Marv Levy started his era with the Bills, mid season!! Sully does make the scary comparison to the Hank Bullough days. I remember those days and they were embarrassingly bad!

True , but to abandon ship at half time? I am not sure if I have ever heard of that in any sport ever. I can remember in hockey Mike Cammaleri getting traded between the 2nd and 3rd periods so he didn't finish the game but that was the GM's classless move. This is one of the weirdest decisions Ive seen a player make ever. Let alone an NFL player!!

Sad how Johnson's career just fell off a cliff at the end. When he was in his prime he was a big time player for us. Hard to believe he's only 32 and his career has been over for 3 years!

Refs not interested even though it was obvious. Quality officiating as usual in the NFL.

This game has played out pretty much like I thought except I thought the defense for the Bills would have stepped up early. By the time they woke up they had 4 TDs on them.

I went to Bills game vs Miami, years ago maybe 2002 or 03? And the exact same play happened where a Miami receiver got nailed and fumbled right at the sideline. Bills recovered but because the Miami player was partially out of bounds (and even though he didn't have possession) the play was dead. A really dumb rule!

So out of the hundreds of college O linemen eligible for the draft, and all the free agents, this is the best we can do? They look absolutely terrible out there, like even if they weren't so unathletic they still would not know what to do. How can Beane justify this mess?

Sorry what?? We have been a national joke for decades because of numerous reasons (many completely self inflicted). What was nice about getting the playoff drought over with was that it removed one of the major irritating parts of the joke. We were back on the national radar in the playoffs and we were relevant . Well at least for a week. As for Rome, I don't listen to his show now that it is not on in WNY but unfortunately he is nationwide and his mockery of this cheeseball and completely odd video is well placed. To make matters worse Peterman came out and proved Rome right last Sunday. We simply don't need the organization to pathetically attempt to create hype about a player who is just plain bad. As for this line "perhaps you should spend your time finding something else you can identify with that won't make you feel like you're a national joke." Thanks for the advice, I think I'll be ok. I've been a fan of this team for almost 40 years. Its a little bit late to stop the relationship now, even as abusive as the relationship has been lately. I get that being a fan is an irrational, emotional connection but it serves no purpose to give the Bills a pass on this embarrassing dreck. If they are this out of touch with reality that they felt the need to make such a video, that doesn't bode well for this current regime in other more important decisions!!

The Video was cringe worthy, kind of like Trump's tribute to Kim Jong Un. Leave it to the Bills to produce something so embarrassing. Right after we get rid of the drought, we are back to being a national joke. This really helps.

I don't think the blowouts are down to lack of talent on this team. Even if you consider this to be a weak squad. They made the playoffs last year, they are capable of hanging with and even beating talented teams. The big problem is that McD and the rest of his coaches are either poor or mediocre at 2 huge facets of the game: 1. McD has failed to properly prepare his team for some of the games under his tenure. Its like the Bills were shocked what the opposing team threw at them and before they had time to recover they were down multiple scores and the game was over. In contrast, the teams the Bills faced in these blow out games seem to have done their homework and studied the Bills' weak points and hammered them on it. The Bills offensive and defensive game plans show little study of the opposing teams. Yesterday was a perfect example. On offense they had Peterman (who they already know is limited) trying to do stuff that had a low chance of working. He faced a fierce rush on a lot of plays which the Bills didn't seem to anticipate would happen. Why wasn't Peterman asked to throw quick short passes. Where was the running game? It looked very poorly scripted or called. The defense was the same thing. Flacco has been around for a decade, you have to know as a coach what works and what doesn't against him. Yet the Bills had no rush and a soft zone coverage on many plays as if they were playing a rookie in the preseason. 2. McD and co are very poor at in game adjustments. They stubbornly persist at what they are doing (or not doing) even when the game is getting away from them and their success has been limited to non existent. They don't seem to have a plan B when things are not working. Daboll had a very vanilla game plan that was getting blown up even in the first quarter, yet they persisted with this right until the end of the half. Same on the defense. The D was getting shredded and there was no change of plan. Flacco got very comfortable back there and as a savvy vet he just went with what the Bills gave him. All in all it doesn't bode well for the future of this crew when you don't prepare and don't react. I have a bad feeling we are going to see more of these blowups unless the coaches start to learn!

Because if you can challenge it (not sure about if they could) why wouldn't you? Down 20-0, you have timeouts to spare, why not challenge if you can.? Nothing to lose at that point . Besides challenging it or trying to challenge the play (even if you couldn't) gives your beleaguered, gassed defense a chance to rest slightly longer. What ends up happening is they go on the field tired and give up another TD drive and the game is effectively over.

I agree, the coaching staff seems to be a little too tight assed about decisions and play calling in general. I think that McD would be a better coach if he took a few gambles. Challenging that punt fumble was a no brainer and he choked as if it was a high pressure decision.

Not that it ended up mattering but on that muffed punt return at the end of the first half by the Ravens, it looked to me on one of the replays that the 2nd Bills player coming in had the ball in his hand and was in bounds and was down. It should have been Bills ball. Did McD explain why he didn't challenge the call? I don't think the Bills had used all (or any?) of their timeouts and being down at that stage 20-0, what do you have to lose? The Bills would have had the ball on the 15 if the challenge was successful and might have been back in it with a TD. If McD had no excuse then it really exposes a flaw in his game management. The Bills needed a lifeline at that stage and his failure to at least try to provide it was just plain dumb.

I thought that the hit out of bounds should have been a penalty at least. But what would you expect from a ref that's related to the mighty Ed Hoculi?

Thanks for the summary especially after sitting through that awful performance and the horrendous weather. It must have felt like a hard punch to the stomach when you left the stadium. The stadium looked really empty even at the start of the 2nd half. It looked to me that many Ravens fans fled with the game already decided. In any case I agree with most of what you said except for pt 2. The O line was god awful, both qbs were harassed, the rbs had no holes to open up and they took numerous penalties!

I cannot for the life of me understand how Peterman gets a 2nd chance let alone a 3rd chance to start. He is terrible and has shown nothing in the regular season to merit a start. In fact he has proven every case for anyone to cut him outright. As for Tuel, he played better than Peterman in the chance he got but that pick 6 at the goal line vs the Chiefs is the play that will haunt me forever! Neither is an NFL calibre QB.
