The refs have missed a lot in this game. I'm glad the Rams got the TD anyway. -

Predictions - AFC & NFC Championship Games
Livinginthepast replied to BillyWhiteShows's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Chiefs defeat the Pats today only because the Pats are away from home. That tends to lessen Brady somewhat, and diminish their offense. It also plays a factor in keeping the officials in line because you know if the Pats are home they are getting every BS and ticky tack call in the rule book and not in the rule book. The final factor that will stop a Pats victory is the Bon Jovi and Kraft "livin on a prayer" singalong wont be able to happen. Judging from last weeks game this infused the entire Pats team with superpowers to drub the hapless Chargers. As for the Saints/Rams. To me Brees has not looked good for the last few weeks. There is something up with his arm/shoulder or maybe he's just worn out. I think the Rams take it. -
Our Last Win in the Playoffs

Yes Kelly took several vicious shots from the Steelers in that game. On that hit he took a helmet spear to the upper body side while being crushed by another player from the front. Jim was a tough customer no doubt just to get up, let alone come back. Another observation I had to go along with yours was that even though the game was much more physical, the opposing players would still help each other up off the field. You don't see that very often anymore. -
Our Last Win in the Playoffs

Because I'm a masochist, I watched the Bills Steelers game from 1995 just now. After watching the game, I can only conclude my brain must have blotted out the painful memory. What an absolute mess that game against the Steelers was!!! I would honestly say apart from the SB losses vs the Redskins and Dallas #1, it is probably one of the Bills worst playoff performances. The Bills performed a total choke job. Thurman Thomas fumbled at a crucial point in the red zone, A high snap on a punt by the Bills led to easy pts, Lots a bad Kelly throws and INTs. In addition the Bills defense (which was good that year) was slapped around by the Steelers. Even on the O'Donnell INT the Bills player should have had a easy pick 6 but inexplicably drops the ball on the return and is tackled by a fast as molasses O line man. Biscuit also dropped an easy pick 6. The icing on the cake was the incredibly poor officiating which gave the Steelers a pass TD where the receiver had 1 foot in bounds as well as a bunch of other terrible calls. All with the added benefit of NO video replay reviews or challenges because the NFL got rid of it during that time period. And no Bruce Smith = no pass rush on the mediocre O'Donnell. Just a complete disaster !! -
Our Last Win in the Playoffs

I can remember after this game feeling really stoked about our chances to returning to another SB. Perhaps I was a little delusional but the team still looked really good and I thought the Steelers were posers. The following week, the Bills fell apart and were beaten by the Steelers in a mistake filled game without Bruce Smith (who mysteriously fell ill). That game against the Steelers to me was really the end of the dynasty. Even though they failed to make the playoffs the year before in 94/95 and lost to the Jags (in Kelly's last game) the next year in 96/97 WC , the beat down vs the Steelers in 95/96 was a changing of the guard. Not only did we not win another playoff game after the Dolphins victory, but never again did I feel that overwhelming confidence going into a playoff game like I did in the Kelly years again. -
I often think when I see these monster lineman playing such a physically demanding sport that they must be teetering so close to a heart attack even when they are in playing shape. I cannot imagine how hard life must be a decade after retirement for your heart and other organs. The NFL really needs to do a better job taking care of its alumni.

Gronk likely headed for retirement per Rapoport

Yes that's true, Peyton looked geriatric in that last season with the Broncos! -

With the exception of a couple of plays, Gronk looked last week about 10% of the star that he used to be. Amazingly even at 10% he was still better than Clay and Benjamin. I'm not sure that I have ever witnessed such a "fall off the cliff decline" in such a short period. Has anyone declined that fast in the NFL the past 20 years? I cannot think of anyone even close. -
The Chargers were one of the worst prepared teams I have ever seen yesterday. Their game plan was absolutely idiotic. Did they really think that not pressuring Brady would work? And when the game plan was obviously unravelling, Lynn and co made no adjustments. Just some blank stares and mouths agape at the ass whooping they were receiving. It really infuriates me when people gush about Bellichick when all that guy has to do is rely on his opponents like Lynn or Quinn in the SB to just make one moron mistake after another. Then just let the GOAT Brady do the rest.

I used to have respect for Anthony Lynn, that is until today. This has to be one of the worst coaching jobs I have ever seen in a playoff game in my life. The game plan looks like they were playing to lose, playing scared, no aggression, no pressure, no confidence. Their plan to beat Brady? Nothing!!! Their offensive game plan ? Hope for the best! Their adjustments after the first quarter? nothing.!Just a pathetic embarrassing effort overall. The Chargers look totally unprepared like they have never watched any film on the Pats or have practiced nothing different in preparing for Brady compared to Jackson last week. Did they think they could do the same against the golden god Brady? Just utter stupidity!! To add to this, the refs of course have been helping the Pats with some key calls or non calls. Rivers has turned in his usual choke performance vs Brady and the complete lack of clutch plays by the Chargers = blowout!!

Is Rex Ryan done in the NFL ?
Livinginthepast replied to PUNT750's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its funny to have this discussion as the coaches carousel is unfolding. I was shocked to see Adam Gase being hired again by the Jets as he achieved nothing in Miami. That kind of hire is like the NFL was in the 80s and 90s. Where you had complete idiots coaching who would fail miserably then get rehired (Rich Kotite is probably the best example) and Sh%t the bed in the next place too. Rex would be the epitome of this type of hire if this was to happen now. Rex has achieved absolutely nothing. Perhaps If he had won the SB with that Jets team that defeated the Pats then he would deserve a shot but they came up short in 2010. What possible delusion would a GM now have to be experiencing to even consider him as a candidate?? -
Forget about Josh Allen, this Lawrence guy for Clemson is an absolute beast and loves the Lord just as much as McD!! Its a match made in heaven, draft him early next year!!

WR Duke Williams of CFL’s Eskimos Signs with Bills
Livinginthepast replied to LEBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Williams has great potential to be better than any of our current receivers as long as he 1. Stays healthy and 2. Is actually given a fair chance to compete for a job. He is exactly that type of jump ball receiver we have been lacking the past few years. The problem for him like every player who comes in from the CFL isn't lack of talent, size or speed, its the huge bias against the CFL from the NFL snobs and the lack of good scouting and quality of assessment from many NFL team's front offices. Too many times players are overlooked in the draft and have to prove themselves in the CFL just to get a shot to come back to the NFL. The Bills would be wise to actually pay way more attention north of the border to add to their depth and get over this stupid bias! -

The Eskimos "packers colors" 1949 predate the Packers wearing the same by almost a decade 1959. Before the late 50s the Packers looked like Notre Dame!
