  1. a chance on life is one thing...a chance to make millions of dollars playing a game is another. Having a convicted felon in the NFL makes the league look bad...and when you consider he always tries to make it sound like he was the victim, it's even worse
  2. by painting himself as the victim?
  3. This isn't tennis...no single player wins or loses games on his own
  4. A person has to be remorseful before they can be forgiven..Vick thinks he was a victim....that's not a sign of remorse
  5. You really know nothing about the Bills fans, do you? Fred Jackson has a lot more fans than Marshawn He can't help the team for 2 reasons not a very good QB...inaccurate, poor at reading defenses he'll spend his free time finding other illegal and vicious crimes to commit...non-remorseful ex-cons generally go back to crime when they feel they might be able to get away with it...don't forget...he spent 6 years torturing and slaughtering not only his own dogs, but the family pets of others...those are things a psychopath does
  6. sorry...but it has come out that Marv had little to do other than PR and being a figurehead. Modrak and Guy made the suggestions on whom to pick up. When Donahoe was here, he made the final call....Jauron made the final call after he became head coach
  7. I think you're thinking of Flutie...RJ had the $25M deal that he signed when he was traded to us. Flutie's initial deal was 2 yrs, $1.1M if I'm not mistaken. After his performance in 98, Ralph had that deal torn up and he was given a 4-year, $22M deal, making him the higher-paid QB over the length of the contract
  8. signing Flutie didn't sell the tickets...Flutie's play that season sold the tix...Flutie was pretty much an afterthought when he was signed. We all hoped our $25M man was going to provide some great QB play
  9. They'll likely get better ratings because people will watch it at home instead of in large groups...but not nearly as many people will actually watch. There were several thousand of us at the Ralph for the season ticket holder draft party this year...might have about half those people watching at home on Thursday night
  10. Cookie Gilchrist. Now there was a player. Ah yes. Just as with the great Jim Brown, you don’t have to have been alive at the time of his supreme grandeur to know about Carlton Chester “Cookie” Gilchrist — his legend spans the generations. There are many wise men to this day who played and coached for and against Cookie Gilchrist in the NFL who say it’s not Jim Brown who was the greatest running back ever, it was Gilchrist who, because he played his first five seasons in the CFL with Hamilton, Saskatchewan, and Toronto before signing with the AFL’s Buffalo Bills, did not get the recognition of unparalleled records — establishing majesty he deserved....more
  11. wow....I remember him...he was exciting to watch when he got going....had that change of direction ability that Barry Sanders had
  12. which is likely why the Bills only have 1 scout in Mobile right now...the rest are at the East-West Shrine game where they're needed to be
  13. Truth be told, I'd be happy to see Lynch leave Buffalo the next time he gets into any trouble...and I was hoping he'd be our 1st rd pick in 07, too
  14. nicely stated. If Russ Brandon allowed that sociopath to come here, St John Fisher would demand he return his degree Considering he keeps saying "It's unfortunate this happened to me" he'd have gone back to doing it as soon as he got out of prison if he thought he could get away with it. That's a bigger issue than the 6 years of vicious crimes he committed as far as I'm concerned...that he's not remorseful and he thinks he was the victim. we had a guy just like that...he's wearing #7 for Oakland now So because he was never taught right from wrong, he should be given forgiveness when he's not remorseful? that You don't know much about the NFL, do you? He was on a practice squad because he had potential. If he had none, the Packers would've never placed him there....it's common sense there's at least 1 every week...kinda have to wonder why the excessive threads don't get locked like every other topic that gets repeated some people were born without a conscience...or without basic football knowledge for that matter.
  15. in answer to the thread, yes and no It's the responsible thing to do to have a plan in place, more for the organization than for the fans. Just like a will. However, he doesn't owe it to the fans to tell us about it...and it's tasteless to talk about it to an extent. "Hey Ralph, what's gonna happen to the team when you die?" Who wants to talk about their death? A rumor came out a couple of years ago that said that Mary Wilson was getting the team and selling it to Jim Kelly's group upon Ralph's passing. Whether that's just a rumor or the facts, we won't find out until after Ralph passes
  16. quite frankly I think all these clowns are doing is crying for attention Waaaaaah Waaaaahhh I don't like the new coach so I'm gonna quit and I want everyone else to quit too so I don't feel so alone waaaaaaaaaaah waaaaaaaaaaaaah!!
  17. as I recall, Chris Brown said that Byrd will take 3-4 months to rehab back into playing shape so barring a miracle, the next time he'll be active on a football field will be OTAs in late March/April
  18. He's also not remorseful about his crimes as shown by his statements "It's unfortunate this happened to me"...something I've heard him say at least twice the last few months...he's not the victim, he's the one who made victims of children who lost their best friends to that monster...and considering his lack of remorse, he'd do it again if he thought he could get away with it criminals don't belong in the NFL, period. It's not that hard to follow the law...and I'd wager there's a lot of people out there who could play in the league if we tossed the habitual criminals from the league. Quite frankly, I'm still shocked that Goodell reinstated him after originally being hard on trouble-makers in the league.
  19. There's plenty of alternates...if the 1st alternate can't go, then the 2nd, 3rd, 4th alternate in line gets the call. It's all based on votes from the fans, coaches, and players. Top 3 QBs from each conference get the call and if all 3 of them can't go, you'll have the next 3 vote-getters
  20. Wood and Nelson were Buddy's picks....he said when he came back that he kept up with college football and still had his contacts in the southeast
  21. from what I heard, he had the final say with no actual GM to overrule him. Modrak made his recommendations but how many of those Jauron followed is anyone's guess...same goes for pro personnel moves...Guy made the suggestions and Jauron said yes or no....I have a hunch that's why they're still here...Buddy Nix and Chan are said to be on the same page, which has to be a good thing...since we already know that Buddy is great at selecting college talent
  22. yeah, no kidding...AVP was the only choice they could make in that kind of time frame
  23. anyone who truly thinks that has amnesia...he's been doing it for us and for the Chargers for years...now, as far as head coach, the jury's out
  24. no kidding...anyone telling me to act like a baby and cancel my season tickets because he doesn't like the coaching hire can sit and spin
  25. this part right here's one of the dumbest parts of the post, IMO....spent several years as San Diego's asst GM and the primary job of a GM is to bring in personnel....which Buddy's always been good at Thomas Smith Damien Covington Eric Moulds Gabe Northern Sam Cowart Peerless Price Shawn Bryson all came from his region and so did Eric Wood Shawn Nelson
