  1. I've never seen anything like that... if you don't mind a ~15 minute walk, there are some side streets south of the campus with no signs that seem viable. I did that once with no consequences. By the way, looking for tix for tomorrow's practice if anyone has any. Looks like some jerks took them all for free and now try to sell them for $10. pretty low, If you ask me.
  2. yeah, i would expect they would put out the best crew they have for such a prominent game. i would expect worse in many of the others. also, many fans do no watch looking for such things and wait for the tv announcers to point everything out. if they don't, they'll never know. always dangerous. if you watched any Bills preseason games and relied and Tasker and the other guy to tell you what was going on, trust me... you didn't know squat. they said the wrong names of guys half the time. so while last nite didn't seem that bad, i'm still worried... there were some ridiculous preseason screwups and i don;'t think they are going away. i'm fairly confident they will affect the outcomes a few games this weekend more than the old refs. hope it's not ours.
  3. Similar to Peters in almost every way. No sympathy because good money was awarded before they proved it. Risk on management side, so they should reap some reward for that. What was gained is the same as usual... you hold out 1 year earlier than a deal is reasonably expected, then report with understanding you're serious and it will get addressed next season with ONE year left. They almost certainly will (barring injury or terrible season) now. It's a proactive approach, so you don't have to spring it on them next year and they've had a year to get used to the idea that they should pony up.
  4. don't count your chickens... could still be on the PS. in fact it's almost probable.
  5. Not only that, but you don't assign a guy to practice squad...he has to sign all over again, he's a FA. he can join another team's practice squad if he wants.
  6. Gilbert is maybe playing DE just to prove versatility that he can do both. Also, with the new IR rule, maybe they think they can get Troup back later in the year.
  7. sorry gilbert. i have no idea why, but i keep doing that. maybe it's cuz of janoris jenkins and jaron gilbert? no excuse, lol...
  8. i don't think that saves Carrington... Jenkins or Heard is in. Dwan seemed to play well in training camp then made no plays once games started.
  9. i'd much rather the beginning was easy though... the first 9 games are tough, and if we're only 4-5 or so, we won't get a lot of the fans for those late home games making even those a bit harder.. plus the whole confidence thing.
  10. My point is i do not think Smith can play QB. He does anymore than the wild cat for a few plays and we are done anyways. Even if you caut Roosevelt, I'd rather keep Thigpen than Smith, as we'd have a chance to win a game with him playing half of it. not so with Smith.
  11. Yeah, Carder hasn't done much of anything and seems buried on the depth chart. he made a play last nite, but that was after what was probably his busted assignment the previous huge play. of course Morrison would not be playing in the 4th if they were sold on him either. McKillop has easily been the most productive, even made a ST tackle so, if the games are any indicator - McKillop is the man.
  12. For the sake of argument, let's say it Roosevelt you keep instead of Smith since that would be a popular choice. What do you lose? Wildcat - Cannot a mobile Qb that can throw better than Smith like T-Jax minimize the loss here, if not completely negate it? WR - Smith is a way below average WR, and looks stiff out there... Naaman all the way here Returns - We have plenty of KR guys already, they generally don't have long shelf-lives, many kicks aren't even returned anymore and Smith hasn't looked good doing that for us yet. Punt returns are both more valuable and difficult and Roosevelt has looked good doing it. Edge Roosevelt. Coverage - Okay, B.Smith is good at covering kicks, but do we need a 4 million dollar coverage guy? And if they keep Potter, almost no need anyway. So sure, he can do 4 things, but none of them better than people we'd have on the roster.... You would, without question, lose someone better at something he does, by keeping him. And now with a groin pull, probably would not even play for a while!!!
  13. Aaron Williams is a cheaper Florence. I see the former getting burned as much as the latter. It's not an assessment of one play (though i don't know that Calvin did anything Megatronish on that play... he just made a break and Williams got lost). Williams had a rep in college of getting thrown on a lot too, and in 4 preseason games hasn't really looked that good or made plays in any of them. If you pick a weak spot on the D, you'd have to say it's him.
  14. A>Williams scares me, I think he will get picked on a lot. Brooks is covering the WR, but never turns his head around.. it finally burned him last game when a Steeler grabbed it over him, after getting away with it a couple times vs. Vikes. He'll also likely be called for PI doing that sometimes, even if it's not truly deserved. I would call CB (not necessarily the whole secondary) a potential weak spot, in that if we don't get front 4 pressure regularly, we'll be in trouble.
  15. yeah, Sanders was awful until Pittsburgh when he was just ok. Carrington and Asper are more than likely cut. And i have seen nothing from Carder... he's been on 3rd team and virtually unnoticeable. maybe makes it on being a 5th round pick alone (like Sanders) but can't see him being a lock at all.
  16. actually, that's kind of the definition of a reach... drafting a player for need when there are high rated players on the board. not to say it definitely was with Graham. kinda hard to believe they didn't have other players rated higher than someone not many analysts even knew much about (including QB's they brought in like Wilson and Cousins); but if they really, honestly, believe he was a better player than anyone on the board then it was not. and maybe he is... sure doesn't look too bad yet.
  17. Understood that bouncing around is tough, but Carrington hasn't done too much of anything no matter where he has lined up. He has looked okay at times, that's about it. I think he's a depth guy no matter the position, or team, he ends up. Feel bad for Troup. I watched a lot of the little he played, and he did really well... held up against double teams back in the 3-4 days anyway, and looked promising last year even with a cast on his hand. Also a shame because the backups behind Dareus and K.Williams are nothing special, and the 5th spot if we have one, is barren. Hope his back gets better eventually. As for the original question, I'd think as of now it'd be Heard and Moore since that gives you one player suited for each, rather than Carrington who is maybe not suited for either (in a 4-3).
  18. as was similarly stated, Bills had been doing well with latter round picks Stevie and Bell... and other worth a shot. i think maybe the worry is they don't seem to take the picks as seriously, and to be honest some of Buddy's comments about latter round picks this year like Asper, Potter and the one we traded away, were very non-chalant and what you would say about an undrafted guy... basically they are bodies, who cares, just a flyer at that point.. etc. i mean, out starting QB and #1 WR are both 7th rounders, and our starting RB and #2 WR were undrafted. they shouldn't be throwaway picks. not saying Jasper was or anything, but Nix definitely gives the vibe he doesn't take 6th or 7th rounders that seriously.
  19. first, anyone that says Evans could not or would not block, didn't watch the games very closely. He was a willing and very able blocker. pay attention. two, i don't think the Bills management publicly said he was not willing to go across the middle or in traffic. Gailey said he needed to be better at the underneath routes.. which is pretty much jives with what Mularkey said about his release, that he could not get in and out of his breaks. unable and unwilling are two different things, since the latter seems to speak more of character. i think it's obvious now that he likely was never great at this (breaks), but it does not mean he was unwilling. and now he's even worse at it sooo.... yeah, he's done and not coming back here. that said, why make up stuff about the guy? some people aren't happy unless they are saying negative things about someone i guess.
  20. i don't see the leaps. anyway, i figure Young may be cut based on the fact he was cut last year, wasn't he? thought he was on the PS. let's see... assuming starters are Glenn, Levitre, Wood, Urbik, Pears, that leaves 3 or 4 spots: 1.) Hairston 2.) Rinehart leaving Colin Brown, Mike Jasper, Zebrie Sanders, Sam Young, and a couple other undrafted fighting it out for 1 or 2 spots. i guess he could make it, if we keep 4 OT's (and with depth at other positons that may be hard), but he's a bubble player at best i'd think. point being, our starting 5 against the Skins would be one of the lowest rated in the league if it was our real lineup.. even if Hairston starts. much like what posters were saying about the Pats.
  21. not sure we're that much better off at the moment. only 1 proven guy at the right position. @LT - rookie who may not earn the job @LG - Levitre @C - backup Center (our starting RG) @RG - the backup RG @RT - likely to be cut backup Young, and likely swing T Hairston
  22. might as well try Gatlin then... he's Graham's buddy and he's a better starter than Bolt.
  23. too much is being made of LAST year in these comments. anyone can rank teams the way they finished last year, i don't think that's the point. there will be a lot of turnover, so try and predict it. Giants had a good run, but they also had things go their way; Packers could not catch a cold in that game, 49'ers probably should have won, and they are perfectly built to be the Pats foil. no doubt they played really well in that stretch, but they also were 9-7 and gave UP more points than they scored on the season! so i can see 6th. Cowboys at 5 may seem a stretch, but they have the talent, and until the last week of the season were the best team in the division. results may not back that, but again, it's a fair enough prediction. and the Lions? who knows... despite 3 good D-lineman, their D was torched last year and all these are arrests certainly bring up some character concerns. not sold on them being top-notch. as for the Bills, 12 is basically the last playoff spot, so it seems fair... a lot of us think that sounds about right. who is the competition for it? Bengals who we should've beat? Chiefs who we crushed? no reason it can't be us. yes, i recognize a certain hypocrisy in pointing out lasts year's results there, but not saying you can't use it as a tool or all predictions would be random. of COURSE they have to prove it, but ranking teams completely after the fact is kinda stupid/pointless. let's just all agree Jacksonville will suck.
  24. i don't know how people consider Miami a rival, other that they are in our division. they'd be 3rd on that list easy. there are only 3 main reasons that was a rivalry once upon a time: 1.) they were dominant over us, and won like 20+ straight. 2.) we finally got better and were good at the same time for some years in the 80's. 3.) there were some players on that team we really didn't like. NONE of those reasons even apply anymore, in fact not in over a decade. and it's NE that takes the that same place in the first 2, hands down (well, the first 1 for sure, and the next one if we are actually better like we think.. otherwise who cares). unless you have some geographic proximity or something, rivalries will and do change. hanging onto miami is just manufactured by people living way in the past. hell, we've had more memorable games against Cleveland the past several years than Miami.
  25. but why? the NFLPA should be protecting the whistle blowers as much as the "accused". although a black eye, it was going on, thus a good thing for the players that could be stopped. good luck getting people to talk again if they are exposed. i would not want a thug like Vilma after me for getting him suspended and causing him to lose millions. who knows what people are capable of? however, there does have to be some indication of proof against players... just not specifics. i would assume Goodell did say we have "this this and this" w/o giving away everything, but if not i guess he should.
