  1. I've never seen anything like that... if you don't mind a ~15 minute walk, there are some side streets south of the campus with no signs that seem viable. I did that once with no consequences. By the way, looking for tix for tomorrow's practice if anyone has any. Looks like some jerks took them all for free and now try to sell them for $10. pretty low, If you ask me.
  2. yeah, i would expect they would put out the best crew they have for such a prominent game. i would expect worse in many of the others. also, many fans do no watch looking for such things and wait for the tv announcers to point everything out. if they don't, they'll never know. always dangerous. if you watched any Bills preseason games and relied and Tasker and the other guy to tell you what was going on, trust me... you didn't know squat. they said the wrong names of guys half the time. so while last nite didn't seem that bad, i'm still worried... there were some ridiculous preseason screwups and i don;'t think they are going away. i'm fairly confident they will affect the outcomes a few games this weekend more than the old refs. hope it's not ours.
  3. Similar to Peters in almost every way. No sympathy because good money was awarded before they proved it. Risk on management side, so they should reap some reward for that. What was gained is the same as usual... you hold out 1 year earlier than a deal is reasonably expected, then report with understanding you're serious and it will get addressed next season with ONE year left. They almost certainly will (barring injury or terrible season) now. It's a proactive approach, so you don't have to spring it on them next year and they've had a year to get used to the idea that they should pony up.
  4. don't count your chickens... could still be on the PS. in fact it's almost probable.
  5. Not only that, but you don't assign a guy to practice squad...he has to sign all over again, he's a FA. he can join another team's practice squad if he wants.
  6. Gilbert is maybe playing DE just to prove versatility that he can do both. Also, with the new IR rule, maybe they think they can get Troup back later in the year.
  7. sorry gilbert. i have no idea why, but i keep doing that. maybe it's cuz of janoris jenkins and jaron gilbert? no excuse, lol...
  8. i don't think that saves Carrington... Jenkins or Heard is in. Dwan seemed to play well in training camp then made no plays once games started.
  9. i'd much rather the beginning was easy though... the first 9 games are tough, and if we're only 4-5 or so, we won't get a lot of the fans for those late home games making even those a bit harder.. plus the whole confidence thing.
  10. My point is i do not think Smith can play QB. He does anymore than the wild cat for a few plays and we are done anyways. Even if you caut Roosevelt, I'd rather keep Thigpen than Smith, as we'd have a chance to win a game with him playing half of it. not so with Smith.
  11. Yeah, Carder hasn't done much of anything and seems buried on the depth chart. he made a play last nite, but that was after what was probably his busted assignment the previous huge play. of course Morrison would not be playing in the 4th if they were sold on him either. McKillop has easily been the most productive, even made a ST tackle so, if the games are any indicator - McKillop is the man.
  12. For the sake of argument, let's say it Roosevelt you keep instead of Smith since that would be a popular choice. What do you lose? Wildcat - Cannot a mobile Qb that can throw better than Smith like T-Jax minimize the loss here, if not completely negate it? WR - Smith is a way below average WR, and looks stiff out there... Naaman all the way here Returns - We have plenty of KR guys already, they generally don't have long shelf-lives, many kicks aren't even returned anymore and Smith hasn't looked good doing that for us yet. Punt returns are both more valuable and difficult and Roosevelt has looked good doing it. Edge Roosevelt. Coverage - Okay, B.Smith is good at covering kicks, but do we need a 4 million dollar coverage guy? And if they keep Potter, almost no need anyway. So sure, he can do 4 things, but none of them better than people we'd have on the roster.... You would, without question, lose someone better at something he does, by keeping him. And now with a groin pull, probably would not even play for a while!!!
  13. Aaron Williams is a cheaper Florence. I see the former getting burned as much as the latter. It's not an assessment of one play (though i don't know that Calvin did anything Megatronish on that play... he just made a break and Williams got lost). Williams had a rep in college of getting thrown on a lot too, and in 4 preseason games hasn't really looked that good or made plays in any of them. If you pick a weak spot on the D, you'd have to say it's him.
  14. A>Williams scares me, I think he will get picked on a lot. Brooks is covering the WR, but never turns his head around.. it finally burned him last game when a Steeler grabbed it over him, after getting away with it a couple times vs. Vikes. He'll also likely be called for PI doing that sometimes, even if it's not truly deserved. I would call CB (not necessarily the whole secondary) a potential weak spot, in that if we don't get front 4 pressure regularly, we'll be in trouble.
  15. yeah, Sanders was awful until Pittsburgh when he was just ok. Carrington and Asper are more than likely cut. And i have seen nothing from Carder... he's been on 3rd team and virtually unnoticeable. maybe makes it on being a 5th round pick alone (like Sanders) but can't see him being a lock at all.
