Carruci: Bills not pursuing Cam Newton
Happy replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tannehill looks like he will start for Tennessee. Cam won't take a backup role. Tannehill could be a better QB than Cam at this point; given the choice between the two, I would take Tannehill. Just you're going to need a lot around Tannehill to make him successful. -
Did Kid Rock hook up with Pam Anderson? I know Brett Michaels did, so I guess it shouldn't be surprising that any/all rock stars from 20-30 years ago spent some time with Pam. Anyway, great analogy, I agree that beating NE going forward won't have the same effect as beating them with Brady and Belichick would have had. We could have taken care of business last season, but we let that pass.

Bills sign Bryan Cox Jr to one year deal per Bills Twitter
Happy replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you're giving McD and Beane too much credit with this scenario. I doubt they even care about what happened in the early 90s between the Bills and Bryan Cox Sr.; some in the front office may not even know about it. I'll go as far to say that Bryan Cox Sr. put all that stuff behind him and is happy for his son. -
Do we have the Deepest D-Line in the league?
Happy replied to Dkollidas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the sticks around this year; I believe his contract is up for renewal after the 2020 season. So yeah, it looks like he will stay this year. I'm not sure why people count on Darryl Johnson, a 5th round (or 6th?) pick from NC A&T; he is depth. I don't count on him making his presence felt. Murphy has some decent stats, but I suspect more context needs to be applied to his stats. In other words, I think Murphy amassed his stats in a couple of games against a few favorable matchups rather than anything consistent. Murphy did have a good playoff game. I just don't think he'll ever be consistently impactful since he doesn't maintain an edge well, leading to him being picked on in screens, misdirections, and other running plays around his edge. -

I've mentioned before, I'm not a fan of Murphy or Star as both are average at best, and neither are particularly outstanding at their jobs. Unfortunately, Star is here through 2021 and Murphy through 2020; hopefully neither gets re-signed. Further, I don't think we really know what we have at the 1-tech in Harry Phillips, he rotated in his rookie season and missed most of last season. Something to watch. Our D-line should be good, but I am concerned about the 1-tech and Murphy getting too many snaps again. -

Yep. Between SF and Baltimore, no better D-lines in the league. -

They rotate so much that I doubt it matters at this point. I could see that changing if, for example, Addison outperforms Hughes in practice and game situations. -
Tyler Bass, kicker, might be Bills' best pick

Thanks for pointing the bolded out. Good to know -

The big leg is all well and good, but a kicker worth keeping has to be accurate. They also need to have a good head on their shoulders where they forget the missed kicks so it doesn't affect them going forward. -
At the least, I think we can agree that Daboll is under the microscope right now, as well he should be. McD's second OC in four years. If it gets to the point that a vet FA QB is brought in to compete with Josh in two or whatever years, McD and Beane are in trouble, as well. Trading up for a QB is not a decision that can be hid, or trading up for a RT for that matter. There are things they have done right, but also enough they have done wrong.
-
Most of it is on Daboll. He is the OC and has to make the offense score points with what is given to him; Daboll has to find and utilize playmakers strengths. Allen was a project with a high ceiling coming out of Wyoming. Daboll knows this and has to help develop and facilitate Josh's strengths by designing and calling plays that utilize these strengths vs the opponent's weaknesses. If Daboll can't do that, he should be gone. I think Josh has a long leash and the organization will continue to be patient with him; he has to work out. What's the alternative? Tanking for the next crapshoot at QB in the draft? Paying an obscene amount of money for a 'meh' or over-the-hill FA? No to both as are probably worse options than changing coaches. Josh is here to stay unless he pulls a Manziel, which I don't see.

Beane and his staff did a good job of bringing in new talent. Areas where we were thin are not so any longer. It's up to McD and his coaching staff to use the talent, put game plans together to take advantage of the player's strengths, and win. It's on McD now.
-
I'm not sure I'd pin that all on Beane. McD determines the game day 53, and could easily not have had Gore dress. Daboll didn't have to call sweep plays where Gore tried to go around the tackle. I get that Gore had to get the ball sometime to keep the defense guessing, but Daboll gave him the ball too often from what I could tell.

Between Knox and Sweeney, I hope so. Smith is primarily a blocker and penalty flag generator, Croom is a boy toy.

Rd 5, Pick 167: QB Jake Fromm, Georgia
Happy replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I figured that, and was responding to the other poster who suggested that Fromm could take over at starter if Josh doesn't work out, which I don't see happening. One thing I'm not comfortable with is having a rookie as a backup. Maybe Barkley sticks around this year and we keep three QBs? That would make sense. -

Honestly, I think they have to make Josh work out. I don't see any good scenarios where Josh doesn't work out and they promote Fromm to starter. Too early to talk plan 'B' at QB. -

I see the red shirt, but where is the khakis? Is he Peterman 2.0? -
I really like the job Beane has been doing, both FA and draft. Hope he sticks around for the long haul.

RD 3, Pick 86: RB Zach Moss, University of Utah
Happy replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think they'll rotate depending on the situation. Moss is the short, tough yardage situation guy. -

I was thinking more along the lines of a glass of chardonnay -
RD 2, Pick 54: DE AJ Epenesa, University of Iowa

Why do you say that? A number of other posters were saying Moss is a value pick at Round 3, pick 22. -

Zack Moss RB - Utah. Had a feeling it would be a RB.
