  1. Huh? 2012/13 - Prospects ranked 13th 2011/12 - Prospects ranked 15th 2010/11 - Prospects ranked outside the top 10 2009/2010 - Prospects ranked outside the top 10 2014/15 - Prospects ranked 1st, and this is before having 3 first round picks in the draft. That's not what I'm saying at all. Go read your OP, you brought Terry Pegula's handling of the Sabres into the discussion. My point has been all along that Mr. Pegula is doing what is necessary to make the Sabres a better team. I never said he would do the same thing with the BIlls. In fact I said Apples to Oranges. But carry on trying to compare how a team in the NHL is run and how a new owner of a NFL team will run.
  2. Not to bring this thread back to life, but yes "purposely tanking" in the sense that the team has absolutely no talent. I'm sure they try and give it their all every night. But look at who Murray has brought in. The Sabres are the least talented team in the NHL and Murray set it up that way to "tank" and acquire talent through high draft picks. Very similar to the Colts, if you need an NFL analogy.
  3. Yea but Chip Kelly is so innovative. He get's McCoy in "space".
  4. Saw that. What a catch. Guy is just an athlete.
  5. It still chaps my ass that Marrone said is his opening press conference that the Billd were going to be innovative. Be at the forefront. Have a robust analytics department. Well the analytics say a QB sneak on 4th and inches is 80% successful. Why would you stand up in a press conference after a game and saying going for it in that situation "didn't even cross your mind." An innovator would go for it. They would be thinking on 3rd down that not matter the outcome we have a play ready for 4th down. Not try to draw the other team offsides which is like 20% successful. The going for it on 4th and 10 and not taking the FG doesn't bother me as much. Going for the win is never wrong and the chance of winning % isn't that different. Now the 4th and 6 on Thursday he claims the "numbers were against it". Again he was wrong and I gurantee he didn't look at the numbers because if he did, they say go for it. The Bills were down 2 scores. 2 scores.
  6. That's not what you said in the OP. You said "Terry Pegula's ownership did not help the Sabres on ice product." Which couldn't be further from the truth. Did he make sweeping changes at first? No. He didn't think they needed to and the Sabres were competive for the first couple years. But then he realised that they weren't as good as they could be, the talent level wasnt that high and he did make sweeping changes. Fired Reiger hired Murray and set forth a plan to rebuild from the bottom up. You don't think Pegula approved that plan? Is the Bills situation the same? No not really. Apples and Oranges. The Bills have the talent, except for at QB. They probably need better coaching more than anything else. A great coach can make crap QB better, see Arians and Kelly.
  7. You think Tim Murray put this team together to win? Ha. Not a chance. This team is built to tank. What does it have to do with the Bills and Pegula? You brought up the Sabres to prove a point that Pegula doesn't know what he's doing. He know exactly what he's doing. The team needed a complete rebuild. He understands that, as does Murray. They are sacrificing 2 year years for what could be 10 years of success for the Sabres. They are working the NHL system. How does that relate to the NFL? Ask Colts fans if they're upset about tanking their season for Luck. The misconception here might be that you don't undestand or maybe you don't like how Pegula is handling the Sabres situation. I do. I like what he's doing and am willing to be patient. I'm completely confident he will do what's needed for the Bills as well based on how he's handled the Sabres situation.
  8. I know exactly how the NHL draft lottery works. The team that finishes with the fewest points gets better odds at the number 1 pick. I know it doesn't gurantee it, but you have to at least finish last to get those odds. Even if they don't finish last they have 3 picks in the first round. You completely ignored the fact that they have the number 1 talent pool according to mutiple NHL sources. Add in the 3 first rounds picks and even if they don't get Connor McDavid they are going to be absolutely LOADED with talent. This has been planned.
  9. You do realize the Sabres are purposely tanking, They have the number 1 talent pool and have a pretty good chance of getting the #1 pick. Which means Connor McDavid. This has been planned. I can't believe there are people that don't know this.
  10. Paul Brown. I can name coaches who didn't have ANY NFL experience and came into the NFL and had success. And I don't mean to speak for Kirby but you are missing his point and you keep pointing to these past failures. Yes college coaches have failed, but the game is different now. The college game is influencing the pro game more than it ever has. That's why these guys can have success. Look how offenses have changed in the past couple years. These ideas weren't thought up by NFL guys who had been earning their stripes in the NFL. They borrowed the ideas from college ball. And you keep rallying on about guys who have NFL experience. Guess what? Those guys fail miserably too and they fail just as much, if not more. Gregg Williams, Mike Mularkey, Dick Jauron, Chan Gailey.
  11. I agree with that. There's all sorts of ways to find Head Coaches, much like there is all sorts of ways to find great players, it's about identifying the right ones.
  12. Yes. Chip Kelly only had 53 games as a coach, ever, before he became the Eagles head coach. Gus Malzahn has been a High School coach as well. Give me Gus Malzahn or give me death.
  13. Agreed. Just because a college coach didn't work this time, doesn't mean you don't go that route again. It's like saying you wouldn't draft a QB from "X" school because they've never produced a franchise QB there.
  14. What are the jobs that will open up? Oakland. They are alright, not sure Schwartz would want to go to that circus. Atlanta. That's a possibility, but the defense is a mess, but maybe it'd be a project for him. I think that would be the most popular spot for any candidate, so the job will be very competitive. The Jest. Doubt it, they are in very very bad shape. I think Atlanta is the only real landing spot. The Bills defense is very good and will only make Schwartz look better. If Pegula offers him a good chunk of change, I could see him staying.
  15. Disagree completely. The game has change quite a bit. Sure, management hasn't change. The concept of the game has. Are you confident Cowher can identify coaching talent that understands the game in the NFL now? I'm not. As much as you think because he's and analyst he's been following the game, I can almost guarantee he hasn't been studying the nuances of the game. How much talent evaluation has he been doing? Hell, CBS doesn't even used him for that. Look how much the college game now influences the NFL. The game has spead up and stretched the field. We are seeing the most prolific passing offenses the NFL has ever seen. That is not anything like the game Cowher left.
  16. I think they need to go offensive coach. That's where the biggest problem is. It's kind of like what happened in SF. There defense was great. Dominant. But the offense was horrible. Enter Harbaugh and suddenly they are going to the SB. My choices would be: 1. Gus Malzahn 2. Art Briles 3. Darrell Bevell
  17. From Marrone's perspective, if he has any chance to save his job, he won't go back to EJ, not a chance. Orton is still the "better" QB on the Bills. That's not saying much, but he gives them a better chance to win than EJ does and if Marrone is fighting for his job, that's who he'll stick with.
  18. Please no. Both Cowher/Dungy and how they build and coach a football team is gone the way of the dinosaurs. It just won't work in today's NFL. And I highly doubt these guys change what the way they do things. EDIT: Look for the next 'big thing' and hope Whaley can identify that person like he can identify draft talent and back up the bank truck.
  19. I turned the game off after the Dolphins went up 19-9. I knew it was over at that point. I stopped letting loses bother me years ago. I have a gorgeous wife and daughter who don't deserve moody Wayne Cubed because something that is considered entertainment upset me. All my daughter has to do is giggle or smile and a smile quickly returns to my face.
  20. Yea I'm right there as well. Down 2 scores and you choose to punt? I'm honestly at a loss for words. Although I think if they went for it, I wouldnt have trusted Kyle Orton to complete the pass. Man was he off, again.
  21. I"m having some people over and we are wearing Bills themed ones:
  22. Yea. It's a really good season. And the way it ended it will open up a ton.
  23. That's fine. I understand that it happens every game. But if you go through the post about last weeks game, no one is blaming Hackett. He's using the fact that they didn's score 20 points. Yet he marches in here, completely ignoring the fact that most people agree Hackett called a fairly good game. There were lots of plays we hadn't seen before. Receivers were running open etc. Hackett could have called a good game and the Bills could have not scored. those things can happen at the same time. There is only so much he can control in play calling and scheme. He can't control fumbles. He can't control an inaccurate Kyle Orton.
  24. C'mon, seriously? If Bryce Brown doesn't fumble the ball and Kyle Orton hits Chandler in the endzone that's 14 points right there and would have put them at 21 points. If Kyle hits Sammy or Hogan at the end of the game that's another 7. Is it fun being absolutely miserable, serious question?
