This is purely speculation but after watching the face and demeanor of Chan Gailey in press conferences every time someone brings up Maybin's name, I seriously doubt if he ever gets on the field again in Buffalo. Gailey either thinks that he is never going to develop into anything worthwhile or he doesn't like him in general. ...then again maybe Chan is just flat out annoyed at reporters asking about Maybin lol. I know I would be. Again, this is why I said it was purely my own speculation.

Jay Glazer Comments about Merriman
Van_phelaN1 replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have to say I agree for the most part. Look at it this way, are you going to let your QB (future of the franchise or not) put his shoulders down into linebackers just to get a first down all out of the desire to win, then you HAVE to try and field the best team (in this case defense) you can. If only to give the guys out there playing their hearts out a fighting chance to win. If he is gone next year oh well who cares. People B word that we need LB help and then get all when we go out and get one. It's not like we were going to be able to draft that future dominant LB in the middle of the season. Give the kid a shot to resurrect his career. If he does great, if he doesn't then he is gone after the season and it's on to the next one. -
OMG I KNOW HIS NAME! SUPERBOWL HERE WE COME!!! :worthy: :worthy: :worthy: In all seriousness though, why not? Are our LB's so good that it's not worth taking a look at?

My first bills game this sunday!
Van_phelaN1 replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I still remember my first game. Enjoy and do us all a favor and put some boots up some ASSES up there in Toronto and get that crowd going. Hopefully Fitz has a good and exciting game for you as well. The last couple Toronto games have been pretty awful to watch -
I will give you that he was a competitor. He sure did like him some Lee Evans too.

are we done talking about fitz!!

So, it's too stupid to reply to...and yet... Never mind... -
Bears Fans are pretty pessimistic too
Van_phelaN1 replied to Van_phelaN1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What I think is funny about reading some of their posts is that they are all talking about how The Bills defense is giving up 250+ a game in rushing yards and how they are still deathly afraid that Mike Martz is going to try throwing the ball all day again. Some of them go so far as to say they envy our offensive line Oh well here is to the "Best 0 an 7 team ever" as they have been called This is all true, except now The Bills have taken two of the better clubs in the league (at least record wise i am not trying to start a flame war about how over/underrated they are) into OT and almost got away away with a win in both. I guarantee you the Bills have lost their "trap game" opportunities now as teams won't be taking them as an automatic W. If anything they might want to prepare a little harder as not to be embarrassed by giving a team their first win of the season. Then again, I work for an education publishing company, what do I know -
Saw this on dabears.com and thought it was pretty funny. "Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla ..... yada yada yada yada yada ....... All the more reason the BEARS will get their asses handed to them this week. When ever any team (especially one that sucks) needs to bring it BIG TIME....and win a game ~ the BEARS are always more then abliged to help. The BILLS will probably break new team records this week." We can only hope that he knows his favorite team well
-
-
You forgot that Donte Whitner will have another huge game leading the team in tackles....20 yards down the field... In all seriousness though I think we have just as good a shot this week to win as we have the last two and it took OT to put us down twice. So One way or the other I am predicting a close yet UGLY football game

An omen for the Bills/Bears game?
Van_phelaN1 replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well if you're going to see it that way then the omen means this: The Bills will barely survive an onslaught to escape with a win (in overtime) But sustain season ending injuries to Lee Evans, Fred Jackson, Ryan Fitzpatrick, half the offensive and defensive lines. The team crawls back to Buffalo where the commissioner is waiting. He says: "You guys showed a lot of heart. Don't worry we are here to put you out of your misery. It will all be over soon." In walks Bill Bellicheck with a 22. -
A solution for the Bills Defense to help stop the run
Van_phelaN1 replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't see the need for a pass rush when teams can just run on you all day. It is a lose lose for this defense right now. If we load the box teams will put it in the air or take advantage of the glaring LB mismatches. If we don't teams run up and down the field. :wallbash: I think at 0 and 7 what do we have to lose by switching it up and getting players in there to see what scenario works moving forward? Then again I guess if Fitz is going to lower his shoulder into LBs and DBs then it would only be right that Chan puts the best possible defense on the field to help give him a chance to win the game. Even if that defense isn't even on our roster -
Buffalo fans should be happy today
Van_phelaN1 replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh no we are so bad and will never get better and we cant draft, woah is me we are doomed forever and ever. Go watch some other sport then. I don't understand what you get out being a fan with that attitude. -
are we done talking about fitz!!
Van_phelaN1 replied to 13player's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are these the explanations you are referring to? 1: A 3 point loss in the last seconds of OT 2: Leading the team down the field throwing the football to score a TD and tie it at Arrowhead (one of the loudest places to play) with 2 minutes left and force said OT 3: Putting the team in position to win the game only to have the time-out and then the miss by Lindell 4: Having the team near again only to have the plays called and the coaches decision to punt the ball instead of run for a few yards here and there and try the long FG 5 Oh, and having to do this with constant pressure in his face and making plays with his feet, changing coverages and protections. Yes you are right these are all clear indicators that he "sucks" Bottom line is if he doesn't overthrow Spiller on that bomb you would be up on this board singing his praises. I am not going to say he is an elite QB but saying he sucks means you are misinformed or do not understand football. Or you have a Trent Edwards jersey on... I will give naysayers the one pic was BAD and costly but he lost grip of the ball on the throw. It happens. -
AT 5-2 Haley and Cassel Are a Mess
Van_phelaN1 replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The point of his thread was saying that their game against the Bills proved how bad they are because they could barely beat the worst team in the league. His point is accurate. NEVER did he even mention anywhere that the Bills were better. Also, this post was NEVER about how good/bad the Bills are. You see you can tell that by looking at the title of the thread. You see how it says all that stuff about Cassel and Haley? So pointing out the Bills are 0 and 7 and all of your cry baby negativity crap is actually only helping him prove his point further. If you have to take a bad team all the way to the final ticks of overtime and use the ice the kicker tactic just to win, what do you think is going to happen when you play the Saints or the Steelers or the Patriots? Kudos on taking pots at Ralph too. That's a new one. A cheap/bad/incompetent owner? How original. I do have a question you can answer for me though: Is being a troll like being the fat friend? do you not realize that's what you are??? Yeah, all those stats are fantastic! Point is it doesn't matter how amazing your coaching staff is if you don't go out on the field and prove it. The Chiefs are 5-2 right now. Lets see where they end up this season. The only thing I saw was Matt Cassel struggles running a 2 minute offense and it is a good thing they have a powerful running game because I don't think Cassel has it in him to put a team on his shoulders and lead them to a win throwing the football. If a defense good enough shows up to shut down their rushing attack and take away the play action we will see. Also, your opinion is your opinion and it is not fact. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous. -
Well to be fair, if they already knew what they had in Ryan Fitzpatrick then he wouldn't be playing at all, Brohm would already be out there. So I think Chan is very much still evaluating Fitz. I am not saying that you are wrong in the sense that Brohm will eventually get some playing time but I disagree that Gailey already knows what he has in Fitz. His accuracy issues did hurt the team a few times on Sunday but not nearly as much as the defense does every game. Although with all the yards they gave up our boys kept them from scoring and had a couple of nice stops here and there. There are signs of growth all over this team but they still have a very long way to go.
-
That is true. Not to mention Jay Cutler has a rocket for an arm too and you see how much good that does him right? Although I think the original poster was recognizing that it takes strength to be able to fire a ball in on some of these quick slant routes to fit them in tight places. His balls look a lot less wobbly but i think that has more to do with his mechanics being better and also he is more confidence in his receivers lately so he is letting them rip. Long story short, if he keeps it up then i am happy. This year i just want to be entertained. That is one thing Fitz gave me that Trent could not.
-
I for one appreciate your insight and posts. Players do deserve a bit more respect sometimes but there are also some players out there who deserve the criticism they get. I don't think the personal insults count as criticism though
-
You said it. Even if Fitz isn't the answer he is one thing. A leader. Honestly a couple of weeks ago when i was watching him play I thought to myself "why does Fitz look like he is the only player out there who is still trying?" This past week I saw guys fighting for their QB and trying to get open. The defense was awful but you could tell by the way Edwards was playing and yelling that there was at least some passion. Gailey said it right when he said they played real tough and with real heart but they didnt play smart when they needed to. I think a leader is far more important to a team in our position than raw talent on any level which is why i have been worried about drafting a rookie QB. But even now worst case scenario even if we do draft some number 1 prospect at least we know we have a guy with some balls showing him the ropes when he gets here. I know Steve Johnson doesn't want Fitz going ANYWHERE lol.

No Nomination for Fitz
Van_phelaN1 replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All he said was that his performance was deserving of a nomination for the week's top performer. It's not like he said Fitz should be voted to the pro bowl. How is that an over reaction? His INT may have contributed to the loss, but IMO it was Spiller's fumble before the half that switched the momentum in the first place. At the end it was OT, he had the Bills in position to win the game and was moving the ball. He didn't get the ball stripped out. He didn't throw his helmet on the field. You can blame him for throwing some bad pics that didn't help but saying i HEAVILY contributed is nonsense. No more heavily than the other turnovers. One in particular that ACTUALLY contributed DIRECTLY to the loss. Pics get thrown dude that's life but are you going to tell me that 4 TDs and 370 yards isn't a good game? It sure is hell is around here considering nobody had done it in 59 games. The !@#$s who think their opinions are the only correct ones on this board are fascinating to watch -
Beat the Pats. That is the ONLY thing I want to see happen. The rest is all white noise if Fitzy beats the Pats. Especially if said victory knocks them out of the playoffs.
-
I think the rule was applied correctly but the ref should never have missed that fumble call in the first place. Ben's reaction to it told you it was a fumble. That being said...HAHAHAHAHA F@CK MIAMI!!!!

Kansas City Chiefs focus-Ryan Fitzpatrick!
Van_phelaN1 replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's hard to be multidimensional in this league. -
I actually did read a post game article somewhere that made a mention of the kick. Something to the effect that it could have probably been good from 65 yards. I almost couldn't watch but then for some reason i just decided what the hell why look away and cross my fingers, we are 0 and 5 lol.
