  1. said it in the spring, merriman's days were numbered. people on this board really had it wrong on this guy, was a terrible mess for nix and should have cut his losses a long, long time ago. hopefully the bills follow suit with edwards/johnson and spend those cap dollars on true core players like byrd and levitre.
  2. fine to get in more bodies for camp, but i'd like to see (and expect) the bills to keep 3 safeties only with scott as the S/nickel LB swing guy - prefer to see that valuable roster spot spent on a DL, WR, or even potter over a 4th S
  3. This. Too much money for backups. Kelsey, Johnson and Edwards go, 10 million in cash/cap space freed up for much needed extensions, cheap young players with good upside kept. All assuming no DL injuries in camp which is of course wishful thinking.
  4. interested in a wager? bills will handle the jets on both sides of the ball, name the terms and i'm game.........being worried about tony saprano is laughable, he's a joke who couldn't win more games then he lost
  5. completely disagree - dude is a loser and nothing to fear.......he was .500 as a HC and just finding his feet with a dysfuntional bunch of knobs, expect lots of teething pains......if you're going to worry about week 1, find something else to worry about - saprano ain't it
  6. Point #3 is interesting and related to this discussion (and a long overdue change)...... The owners gathered in Atlanta for their quarterly meetings are expected to take up a host of items that were tabled in March. They are, as MDS listed them at the time they were tabled: (1) an extension of the trade deadline from the Tuesday after Week Six to the Tuesday after Week Eight; (2) shifting the final roster cuts from the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend to Friday, given that the first game of the regular season has been moved from the Thursday after Labor Day to Wednesday; (3) the creation of an injured reserve exemption that allows a player to return that same year after missing at least six weeks of practice and eight weeks of games; and (4) one roster exemption per team per week for a player who has a concussion. profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/05/21/tabled-rules-changes-on-the-docket-for-owners-meeting/
  7. good team guy but i don't see him making the roster - too much money for a backup, better spent on locking up young players
  8. random http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Y3c-Un8DwX0#!
  9. Have those terms been confirmed and was the poster just guessing? Haven't seen them anywhere, link?
  10. Jackson, levitre, and byrd - gotta get them inked before start of season, price only goes up once the games start.
  11. not surprised to see him go but timing is peculiar - would have thought they'd wait till camp to make sure they come through injury free but maybe he had a roster bonus coming up or they didn't want to risk him getting injured himself and being stuck with his salary on IR. Regardless, was too much money for a dime corner so the right move. Two more overpaid backup cuts to go (edwards and Johnston). Bills are in a good spot to get Freddie and others extended before the games kick off.
  12. http://nyjetscap.com/Bills/bills2012.php Would look a lot better with Johnson/edwards cut!
  13. if mcgee was going to be cut it would have been before he restructured his deal in feb......with the new deal, he took major salary cuts and is now being paid like a nickelback, not a starting corner........his roster spot is secure http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&p=9&c=2&cid=1161016&nid=5860637&fhn=1 florence may face a similar choice now
  14. I can't see Edwards or Johnson even making it to camp. That's 8 million worth of cap savings (8.5 million in cash terms) that is much better spent on extensions/rolled to 2013. Florence is in danger as well if he doesn't have a great camp (3.5 cap saving, 5 million cash).
  15. rueben randle just keeps slipping......would be nice to make a move, but doesn't seem to be bills style
  16. nuh uh - competition for hairston at LT.....may the best man win (and the other hell of a player add much needed depth to the roster)
  17. hairston has some competition - great addition to the roster
  18. gilmore will see the field a hell of a lot more then kuechly ever would have.....this league is now all about nickel and dime, and that sits the 3rd backer on the sidelines....OLB is not the need that many on this board are making it out to be - morrison is just fine for what this defence needs
  19. He visited the lions - who then turned around and signed Backus instead. He also claimed to have visits to Atlanta and KC lined up but don't think they ever came to pass. Like you said, it does smell fishy. No harm in bringing him in for a chat/physical though - at worst it puts a bit of pressure on Bell.
  20. only so many roster spots to go around - given the current group if the bills add a WR early in the draft (to fill the #2 role) and a WR late in the draft (to fill the "roscoe" role) i wouldn't expect the late guy to actually crack the roster (perhaps practice squad though).......now if the bills can't find their #2 and don't want to reach the possibilty of WR picked late getting a roster spot is much better
  21. not sure how credible (by the looks of his pic on twitter, not very), but interesting note: Bryan Brackney ‏ @bryanbrackney Demetrius Bell has narrowed his choices between the Redskins and Bills. https://twitter.com/#!/bryanbrackney this is a good example - the source doesn't support the statement........that is lazy.......if there is somewhere that said they offered him vet min (which again, isn't even note worthy on it's own as signing bonus, guaranteed money, years all are more important elements that need to be analyzed in making a judgement on the value of the contract) they should reference.......without a reference they pulled it out of their ass as far as i'm concerned
  22. couldn't disagree more, they do lazy reporting all the time and just drop whatever they want into their blurbs.....i think they pulled this one out of their ass, pure speculation, what's the point of sourcing something if it doesn't contain the info you're reporting? lazy.......regardless, don't even see the relevance of it anyway - league min is a red herring if they offered him a $20M signing bonus.......i wouldn't put any bearing on that comment
  23. So there spending all this time doing rankings, running simulations, debating the results and they can't even get the order right? Credibility shot.
  24. that's a bit presumptious - who knows if he'll actually make the roster, all he's got at this point is a ticket for training camp and a shot at a job.......he's going to have to bust his ass to beat out white (and whoever else is brought in via draft/free agency to compete for 3rd string duty)
