  1. I'm thinking calling people idiots and insinuating they have the maturity/intellect of a 14 year old (unless, of course, you were referring to 14 year old prodigies) sort of qualifies...
  2. You have the right to believe whatever you want about the ability of this team and how they will fare this year. My question is why do you seem to take it so personally when others disagree with you - to the point of personally insulting them? Are their opinions taking away any paychecks, preventing your chances for advancement in your job, removing food from your family's table, or otherwise affecting you in some way personally? Just trying to understand.
  3. Nice try. In your post, you stated "I think your attempt of being cerebral is cute and probably shows some economic potential, but I am probably not far off in assuming that you have not fully maximized this crude intellect into anything one would consider productive from the standpoint of wealth creation, which doesn't necessarily mean the accumulation of money or material assets." Inherent in this post is (1) a view of yourself as being intellectually superior to the poster you are referring to, and (2) that because of the poster's intellectual inferiority, he would not be considered "productive" from the perspective of wealth creation. You have also continually championed the confidence of your accuracy in your assessments. While this might not be the forum for it, you brought it up. So, I think it is fair to ask you for a simple definition of what you are specifically referring to as wealth creation in the context of your post, and the criteria by which you determine whether or not someone is productive or unproductive. In that way, the poster you were referring to will have the opportunity to test the accuracy of your assessment.
  4. Please enlighten us on your definition of wealth creation and the criteria by which one is determined to be productive or unproductive. I really am curious.
  5. Actually, the truth is this: No matter where you fall on the spectrum in your thoughts about this team, if you are a passionate fan of the Bills (or any team), there are no such things as completely "objective" opinions. They will always be subjective to some degree and colored by any number of factors - and in the end, will remain merely what they are: opinions. Intelligent people can (and often do) disagree on evaluations of the same information. That is fine. It is the way in which some of these opinions are offered as "fact," and the condescending way in which those who disagree are dismissed as being intellectually inferior in some way, that is frustrating at times. See my previous post. Pure condescension...and not really necessary, informative, or productive.
  6. Thought you would be interested to know that there has been considerable research on the correlation between confidence level and the accuracy of observations...and, interestingly enough...there is none. Just sayin'
  7. I want to see the Bills play sound, fundamental football in all phases of the game, with no turnovers, period. If they do that, then they have a chance to win. I would love to see them win as much as any other fan. However, if they play a complete football game to their abilities and do not win, it will still give me a pretty good idea of where this team is at. I have been a passionate Bills fan since I was old enough to understand the game (44 years now), went to my first game in 1968, was a season ticket holder when I lived close enough to attend games, and have lived through highs of highs and lows of lows. This is an improving team that is gaining confidence and developing a winning attitude - and they have given us two great games to start the season. As a fan, they have given me hope and optimism again. The results of the game this weekend is not going to change that one bit. Considering, before the season started, the vast majority of posters had this team, at best, with a .500 record (and many had us in the Luck sweepstakes), I would think far more fans would be happier than they are.
  8. Really would like to respond in depth to this kind of thinking...but I'll just say I don't get it And I hope I never do...
  9. Because you have to have the talent to not only get pressure on him through blitzes and four man rushes, but to also have great man to man coverage on the wide receivers and linebackers that can cover underneath - and very few teams have it (i.e., Jets, Ravens). If we go after him, we better be able to get to him - or at least force him to get rid of it quick. If we don't - it will be a track meet. In which case it will be who executes better and makes the least amount of mistakes. I know this much though, through the years, Brady (pressure or no pressure) has absolutely feasted on our defense with the 5-7 yard pass over the middle...I am tired of seeing Wes Welker and their tight ends running absolutely free in that range. If we can defense that area better, then it is a step in the right direction. With all that said. New England is a better team than we are (until proven otherwise); however they are not unbeatable. We have an improving team developing confidence and a winning attitude. If they play sound, fundamental football and don't turn the ball over, then we have a chance...
  10. There wasn't room for a picture on Jauron's play chart...you can only put so much on a 3 x 5 card

  12. Remember Red, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies...Fear can hold you prisoner, Hope can set you free...
  13. This is reality: We have been a very bad football team for a very long time for a variety of reasons. Rebuilding a bad team into a "long term" competitive playoff team takes a little time (and luck...and other factors). I like what I have seen from Buddy Nix and Chan Gaily. They have drastically improved this team already (in more ways than just personnel decisions). They are at least fun to watch again, so, if some fans on this site want to enjoy what they have witnessed the first two weeks and post "ridiculous" threads about our stats at the moment - let them enjoy. We all know the Patriots are still a better team and the odds are they will probably win on Sunday. However, we are an improving team and they are not unbeatable, so, it certainly is possible we could win on Sunday. And if by some chance we do win the game on Sunday, I hope you take a day or two to enjoy it before you start thinking about how we are not built to beat the Jets...or the Steelers...or the Ravens...or the...
  14. He's actually lost a lot of weight...you might have mixed up his picture in your wallet with the one of your mom...
  15. 2003? Really? Well since we are taking a stroll down memory lane, let me see, how did I feel after the 2003 home opener? 1. Not nearly as happy as I was after the beatdown of the 1990 Bills/Raiders AFC Championship game (And I know that one stung) 2. Almost as happy as I was after the 1994 Bills/Raiders AFC Div Playoff game 3. A little happier than I was after watching the fourth quarter annihilation in the 1990 Bills/Raiders game on Monday Night Football 4. Quite a bit happier than I was after the drubbing I witnessed in the 1998 Bills/Raiders game 5. And since the 2003 opener happened before the humiliating loss at the hands of Capt Checkdown in the 2008 Bills/Raiders game – it probably wouldn’t be fair to compare those feelings Hope that helps
  16. Where is it written in stone that one man can't show affection for another man?
  17. Could the reason be that the AFC west just wasn't very good last year?
  18. A team with a very strong pass rush and a good offense. Brady is an elite quarterback, but even elite quarterbacks struggle when they don't have time to throw. If their passing game can be disrupted they can be in trouble because their defense is average at best.
  19. He certainly has ability and potential. I think Gailey is a bright offensive mind and will eventually find a way to put him in a position to translate that ability and potential into on-field productivity. I also think Gailey is the kind of guy who will cut Spiller loose as soon as he reaches the conclusion that it just isn't going to work. But, for me, still way too early to tell and I am not ready to give up on the kid yet. Apparently, neither is Gailey, who has earned my respect in evaluating offensive talent and getting the most out of what he has to work with.
  20. Yeah...Ashcroft wasn't feeling a lot of love on that night. And the truth is, I would have voted for the dead guy as well
