  1. Sorry, but you have gone on and on about how much you know, and that is how you can be so certain about Manuel. Understand that it is your tone of certainty, which comes off as a little arrogant, that most posters on this board have taken issue with - not your opinion. You brought up other QBs (that have turned out to be failures) that you also did not like when they were drafted - just to bolster your credibility. Don't deflect now that you have been called out on a QB you were clearly wrong about. Your opinion of Clausen only shows what you should already know: when it comes to the draft, you, nor anyone else, has any idea which draft picks will flourish and which ones will be looking for new employment within a year.
  2. Enough said. There are opinions and then there are educated opinions. I'll trust the actual scouts and GM...and I'll throw in the coaching staff too.
  3. And the Bills front office hasn't hired you as a consultant yet? Amazing...they really are inept!
  4. Amen. I have no idea if he will be a great quarterback, a bust, or something in between. I do not posess any psychic powers and I do not have a crystal ball with which I can gaze into the future (if I did, I would be looking at financial investments instead of NFL draft picks). The point is, I have no problem with an opinion; good, bad, or indifferent. What annoys me is when people make the leap from opinion to statements of fact: He definitely would have been there at the end of the first or in the second; he will never be a good quarterback; etc., etc. ad nauseum. Just a little tiring...
  5. My apologies. Missed it. I think I was blinded by all the negative karma floating around
  6. Isn't this pretty much true for every team in the NFL? Can't really recall the last time I heard a GM, coach, etc. say "We never really wanted this guy and he'll probably be out of the NFL by our next draft."
  7. No argument with you there. My response was not a defense of Nassib - it was simply to point out that the level of college competion, while important in some respects, should not be the deciding factor in whether or not Nassib (or any quarterback) succeeds in the NFL. The poster I was responding to said nothing about his skills (or lack thereof) - just that he played a weak schedule in college.
  8. I know...just look how Kaepernick struggled adjusting to NFL defenses from the likes of the Idaho Vandals, New Mexico State Aggies, San Jose State Spartans, Utah Utes, etc..etc... Oh wait...
  9. Twice this year, Adrian Peterson had games where he gained 86 yards on 25 carries...as well as three or four others with almost equally modest numbers. When a team puts 8 - 9 men in the box to stop the run, they can generally stop the run. Particularly when they have absolutely no fear of the passing game
  10. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/playoffodds Just thought it was interesting
  11. I do not dislike Jerry Sullivan (I have never met him) and I have no problem with him offering his opinion, point of view, perspective, etc., regarding the Bills. However, what I do not like (and this is just my perception) is the condescending tone with which he delivers his opinions in far too many of his articles.
  12. Michael Vick threw two interceptions because of pressure and Avant didn't fumble the ball twice...it was stripped from him...twice. I'd say that is "forcing" turnovers
  13. I really don't get this post. The Bills' defense was horrible last year. They took steps to make it better; however, it is hard to turn something so bad into something good overnight. It typically takes some time. Consequently, we had a pretty good idea that the defense was still going to have problems this year. That is one of the reasons why most people on this board and elsewhere predicted this team would be fortunate to win 5 or 6 games at best this year (and many predicted the team to finish first in the 2012 Luck sweepstakes). Now, here we sit, five games into the season, with the team 4 -1, and some people are predicting the team will not be able to sustain winning with their defense. The defense is what it is. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. But, they have found a way to compensate for their defensive shortcomings by forcing turnovers and making big defensive plays at key moments - and by playing very good football on the offensive side of the ball. They weren't supposed to beat the Raiders because of their vaunted running game...but they did. They weren't supposed to beat the Patriots because of their unstoppable passing game...but they did. They weren't supposed to beat a desperate, Eagles team that, offensively, can be as diverse and potent as any team in the game...but they did. In fact, this team has found a way to win 4 out of 5 games with this defense. What more can you ask for?
  14. Best just had his first 100 yd game of his career last night - as the featured back in their offense. Whether or not you agree with where Spiller was selected, it is what it is. Done. Over. Can't change it. He is here now and it is clear he has some major talent. Gailey is a good offensive mind and if anyone can find a way to get Spiller to manifest that talent into something productive on the field, it is Gailey. I'm willing to wait and see. In the meantime, it is not such a bad thing he continues to learn behind someone like Jackson.
  15. Remember that season well and still have games on video tape (actually, have over 100 games on VHS from 1987 - 2000 sitting in a box in a closet) . Not sure about the parallels in terms of players; however, I definitely think there is a similarity in the feel of a young team on the verge of taking bigger steps...
  16. Love what the Bills are doing, but, I'll reserve my thoughts for a few more games. However, I will admit I was wrong in leaving my retirement fund tied to the market over the last couple of years instead of moving it into something with a much lower risk...Holy S!#%!!!
  17. Agree 100%. Proper tackling has gone by the wayside and has been replaced with the hope of an ESPN highlight hit. Hate it.
  18. Pass the Pipe, I do not have a problem at all with your original post, I really do not. Nor do I have any problem with your views about this team or what it will or will not accomplish. You are entitled to your views and beliefs and to present them on this board - and I think you try to provide a basis for your opinions and beliefs. I do have a problem, as you do, with a number of the posts you mentioned - they are offensive. In the same respect, the specific post of yours that I had a problem with was one in which I believed you were personally insulting. As a matter of fact, all of my posts in this thread have been on that topic - and I typically do not post a lot. I wasn't trying to single you out as a serious offender (it was just the one post I responded to, and I responded to others as well) and I am not trying to be the civility police here. I understand passion and the occasional emotional responses that are going to happen: It just seems that there could be a higher level of overall civility on this board, which is supposed to consist of fans of the same team with the same wishes for success. That's all. Not on a crusade and won't interrupt your thread anymore.
  19. So, we do finally agree on this? And do you not think calling people idiots, their beliefs a "joke," and insinuating that they are stupid or intellectually inferior to be personal attacks?
  20. My point is this: Why does anyone have to be calling anyone else an idiot? Sorry, just don't get it.
