  1. storied franchise in the biggest of markets
  2. early forecast is 39 degrees and possible snow showers
  3. Sounds like we should see the much used 10 yard LOS cushion from our DBs - really strike fear into the Chiefs There sure is - but we will have to wait until Wednesday/Thursday to see if he's participating
  4. gets the popcorn ready for the show....
  5. My thoughts exactly haha I've seen some definite improvement in our coaching staff, all coaches who are new to the NFL are going to have hiccups along the way, it's a process, and that's been the message from OBD since they all arrived Let's just take it one week at a time and enjoy the ride
  6. sorry if its getting "tiresome" to you but it was an honest question that ive been asking repeatedly because people, all season, have been bringing up this Marrone thing so I felt like I MUST HAVE missed something that someone actually said...so i was not looking for empirical evidence but rather what I personally must have missed....but it seems like, as you said, its simply just fans hating based on guess and you dont have to be a dick about it (see Kelly The Dog's much less a$$holish response to the same topic and maybe learn from it)
  7. also FSU vs Louisville in what could be a really great football game tonight - to go along with the TNF
  8. again....what do we KNOW about Urbik not doing it "Dougs Way" and thus not playing???? Is this stated somewhere or are fans just guessing at why Urbik was not playing? And as you say, the NFL has seen a number of successful jerks, and IF Doug is truly a jerk (and not just fans blowing smoke), all good jerk coaches have to start as an unknown or unsuccessful jerk coach first right? Maybe we have our very own successful jerk coach in the making right here
  9. here is the link http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/bills-nfl/woods-mindset-is-to-be-bills-no-1-receiver-20140911?two-bills-drive here is the quotes: "“That’s football. The competition level is going to be high. If the coaches see something they like, they want to go with it and test it out,” Woods said. “They challenged me to compete, pretty much. They wanted me to keep fighting and make plays.” "“It was beneficial because it gave me insight into the situation. I didn’t know really what was going on,” Woods said. “I felt like I was working hard. He came and spoke to me, gave me his opinion and what he thought of it. He wanted me to just step it up a little bit, and I responded, I think.”
  10. FANS think Urbik is better than Richardson...its not fact that Urbik is indeed a better player than Richardson I will reserve judgement on the Urbik issue, have no clue why we waited so long to insert Urbik but I cant believe it was because Marrone "doesnt like him" - in one game he certainly played wayyyyy better than Richardson, and im hoping that continues.... maybe Richardson looks really good in 1 on 1s/in practice and shows a lot of potential but it doesnt translate to games? maybe Urbik's history of not being a great guard made Marrone try to "chase greatness" in Richardson? maybe, like EJ, Marrone thought Richardson just needed time to develop? Richardson DID HAVE some really solid moments, especially in the run game....sooooo I cant say he should have been taken out immediately. The plan was obviously to go with C. Williams, but he got hurt, and we have been scrambling ever since......but how the coach handles a LG spot should get him and his staff cleaned out?
  11. couldnt agree more with the last paragraph and thats what ive been trying to convey...regardless of what posters/the media drums up about the style of coach Marrone is, if it produces wins, im all for it! I too want to see the best players on the field, but as I have said, the coach knows who those players are wayyyyyyy more than we fans do and regarding Woods, we do know that Marrones tactics worked because Woods specifically said that...after the benching he said something along the lines of "coach wants me to step up and not take plays off", "I know what I need to do"...so i think its clear, in that one case, the demotion worked and didnt create any kind of hate towards the coaches
  12. shhhhh, hes not babying the players enough!!! havent you read the thread : ) these guys will keep cooking up stories about how there is dissension in the ranks so they can attempt to win people over to their side that Marrone and co. are the problem and should be let go NOW silliness
  13. ummmmm yes he was trying to teach Woods a lesson, IT WORKED, and Woods even said so himself...soooooo why is this a problem?? Mike Williams is being very professional about not playing (helping fellow WRs on the sidelines, keeping their heads up after dumb drops and fumbles) - so even if he is in some type of dog house, its not like its been a cancer to the team) - we have no idea why Marrone feels like he does, but we are getting great results with our WRs on the field and its not a problem in the locker room from all indications...soooo why is this a problem? Should Marrone baby his players and let them rule the roost? Is that effective leadership? We should fire a coach because he has successfully used a demotion to motivate a young player? We should fire a coach because hes keeping a 4th string WR on the bench while others are getting the job done? And as to why Urbik didnt get a start sooner, we dont know because nothing is on record as to that.... This witch hunt for Marrone seems like making a mountain out of a mole hill for fans who should be BEYOND HAPPY that we are in the playoff hunt halfway through a season....or have we forgot that we have been trying to achieve this goal for 15 years? Again...the BOTTOM LINE is that continuity is one of the main factors that breeds success in the NFL, so why would we be wanting to insert another coaching staff/system/philosophy and set us back, yet again? Seems dumb
  14. how do you know this is going on? ok maybe talent-less was a bit of an over statement how about, a losing team, and has gotten winning results (so far) in year 2 of his regime?
  15. I was pointing out that the things Simon tried using as examples of Marrone's "schtick" are all created by fans/media...nothing actually ever said by players.... what WE, as fans, THINK about certain skill levels of certain players is most likely quite different than what Marrone and his staff (you know, the professionals) know about their players....how do we, as fans, know Mike Williams talent is any better than Woods/Hogan? The answer is, its probably not, or he would be on the field. How do WE, as fans, know that Urbik is clearly better than the other guards? We dont, we THINK that he is, because of what we have seen... The hate for Marrone as "having it out" for certain players on the team is pure fabrication, and seems like a with hunt The guy is currently getting results, and has taken over a talent-less team and has - through half a season - turned us into a contender, yet some of us want Pegula to clean house and restart the entire "rebuilding process" all over again - the main reason why we have sucked for 15 years is NO CONTINUITY
  16. Someone pleaseeeeee explain to me what Marrones "schtick" is? And why some of us think the players (veterans) hate it? Is there any concrete examples of this or is this all the media driven nonsense (his apparent "dispute" with Hughes, who he's been getting great results out of by the way? His "argument" with the FO after training camp? Not playing mike Williams - who we have not needed because our WRs are doing great - thus causing his agent to request a trade? Also, notice how mike acts on the sidelines, true team player despite his apparent "rift" with his head coach. His demotion of Robert Woods in training camp that worked perfectly and Woods publicly said he needed and benefited from and now he's playing like he should? Or is it his handling of the guard situation where he has not played Urbik for reasons none of us actually know, other than the fact they were trying to ride it out with the rookie and now switched and inserted Urbik?) I'm dying to see what everyone is talking about as far as Marrone and his "schtick"? THANK YOU - sorry to repeat post, must have posted at the same time - this is what I'm saying!
  17. Let's get through the Kansas City game first - then worry about short week Miami (which will be short week for both teams) And Fred expects to be back for the Miami game, at least in his own words
  18. Great post - until the end, and only because I disagree with you blowing up the coaching staff is a terrible idea, for the sole reason (there are several though, but this one is the most important) that continuity is what breeds success in the NFL - constant turnover of coaching staff and front office has been a major factor in why we have been in rebuild mode for 15 years You may not like marrone (I personally like his mantra of constantly getting better, holding players accountable, not confusing effort with results) but he's getting results, no? Is there public dissension among players? I think you may be reading a little too much into certain players (where has it been said urbik has been sitting because he doesn't kiss marrones ass? Couldn't it just be that we drafted a guy we are high on and thought he would improve the more he played, and that for a while he was showing glimpses of improvement so why pull the plug before it was glaringly obvious we needed too?) and their dislike of Marrone...I see a team that has good chemistry and is being led from the top down The crossman hate I just don't get.....special teams have been pretty damn special I'm not going to touch the Hackett debate because I think - as you pointed out - it's not all on him and he has definitely had success with his passing schemes, and his "predictability" is probably a combination of factors that you mentioned Russ Brandon has been doing a hell of a job marketing and running business side of the buffalo bills for years, I don't get why he would/should be replaced either....as long as he's not making football decisions, which he's not (and you also seem to infer - blindly - that he could be pressuring Whaley into decisions, which I think is unfounded and kind of just wrong), he shouldn't be replaced either Now if Pegula were to bring in an outsider to view the situation and make recommendations in the offseason/next year going forward, that sounds like a progressive and intelligent way to go about continuing to build a winning organization Great post - looking forward to more of these for the 2nd half! Go bills!
  19. I have been trying to figure this out - looks like its DEF a bar, unless someone went through the trouble of writing the drink specials on the black board in their basement haha and in a couple shots I think I see random old white dudes sitting at the bar
  20. saw some of these on twitter this week, cant see these photos on this page at work, but MAN, some of the bills wives are very attractive....love them in their halloween costy's
  21. I hope the Jets injure every one of their players - dont feel bad about saying it either....ill take a win against a limping team just as much as ill take one against a fully healthy playoff contender.... the ONLY thing that matters is throwing up those W's as stated repeatedly throughout the thread....like last week this game will be won in the trenches, if we can plug gaps/holes and stop Charles, and we can pound the rock....we should win, if not, we will need to count on miracles (which we MIGHT be running out of our share by now)
  22. Dareus is under our control for two more seasons (contract next year, ability to tag him for the 16/17 season) - yes I want to re-sign him to ensure he is a bill for a long time, but we have the ability to ensure that for at least two more seasons Hughes is a luxury, and if signing that luxury to a 8-10 million a year deal for the next five jeopardizes our ability to upgrade the o-line, add impact players at WR or TR or RB, continue to build franchise wide depth with QUALITY players and re-sign our young stars (Glenn, Gilmore, Watkins, possibly Orton, kiko, etc.) then I'd rather let him walk - situational pass rushers can be had for cheaper and we already have some good DEs on the roster that can contribute immediately Yes we are currently in good cap shape, but I do not want to rush to ruin our good cap position by handing out huge deals to players who may not be worth that kind of money Hughes on a 3 year, 21- 25 mill contract? Maybe I'd be down for that....anything more than 3 years ties up a lot of potentially needed money in the future
  23. can someone post a link to this cover instead of embedding it? it isnt coming up on my work comp...or at least who the artist is thats covering the song...please and thanks
  24. the very premise of the opening of this thread makes it pointless the REASON we should have beaten the Jets handily (and we did by the way) was because they give too many turnovers and have horrible QB play....soooooo, saying "if they didnt throw INTs and have terrible QB play, the game would have been close" is like saying "if we were playing a completely different team"....we beat the Jets because they were what we thought they were....any NFL win is a good win
  25. Players have to want to resign extensions before their current deals are up though - it's a two way street I agree with OP about bringing in replacements for lost talent - not always easy to do You only have so much money to work with - the current broncos roster is beautifully put together BECAUSE they have hit on their younger drafted players (Thomas's, some linemen and pass rush) - not to mention they have the best QB to ever play the game under center, that can't be overlooked The basic premise of the OP post is sound, it's just in the execution
