The defense must have one stand in them. -

Well, way to start a defensive stand at midfield. Would be shocking to see defense hold -

Yes, the defense is atrocious, but that doesn't mean that Taylor is a good starting QB. He has made a few "on time" throws today, but the fact that those stand out says a lot about Taylor as a passer. -

I'd trade Marcel Dareus and our first and 2nd pick this year for Luck with no hesitation. -
CBS: Rex could be fired, TT benched Monday with loss
OldTimer1960 replied to NoSaint's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watkins is very very good, but has been hurt. He was not hurt in college, so how could he know and who knows if he will not be injured after his foot heals? In hindsight, there were other great WRs in that draft (OBJ and Mike Evans), so maybe trading the extra 1st was questionable. The point about EJ is off-base. EJ was supposed to sit and learn as a rookie, Kevin Kolb got hurt and couldn't play. EJ actually wasn't horrid as a rookie, even when they knew whe was not ready to play. In year 2, Orton was not clearly better than Manuel, but Marrone wanted to play the vet. I don't think that Orton played well enough to keep Manuel on the bench, but that is water under the bridge. Overall, I am comfortable with Whaley's drafting - I think finding a QB IS hard unless the team totally crashes. -
I'll eat crow here. Several weeks ago I posted that NO WAY should they pay him, but he has played very very well for the past 5 or 6 games - and he has had little in the way of pass rush help over those games. I think that Aaron Williams was a big loss and is likely to retire. I'd take the savings from his retirement and give them to Gilmore.

Do we beat Cleveland next week?
OldTimer1960 replied to sullim4's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If think it is possible for the Bills to lose to Cleveland - especially if Cardale Jones starts. Cleveland lacks talent, but they are very competitive. They haven't won this year, but they haven't posted any complete no-shows and most of their games have been close. I think they could beat a very undisciplined team like the Bills, particularly if the Bills start a rookie who only had 10 college starts. -
2nd string QBs don't get many practice reps in-season, 3rd stringers get mainly scout team reps. Cardale has talent that I don't want to see destroyed by playing him way too soon. He showed last season in college that he was not ready to be a starter. If NCAA defenses can stop him, what's gonna happen in the NFL?

I don't hate Tyrod Taylor, but I think we've seen enough to know that he isn't good enough to be an NFL starting QB. Still, I wouldn't want to see Cardale Jones thrown to the wolves after a season of getting very very few reps in practice and coming from college with 10 starts to his name. I think that would be a monumental mistake.

Yep. Defense was non-existent except when Rothlisberger handed them two interceptions. Offense is beyond bad. No threat of the pass make a an easy to defend one dimensional team. -

The dismantling of a once-great defense is complete. Hiring Rex Ryan has set this franchise back to ground zero. There can be no argument to keep Ryan for next year - he MUST go. -

Far from the biggest problem with this team, but HOW does Carpenter still have a job? -
I was, going to read the linked article - until I realized that it was written by Stephen A Smith. He is the leader in the clubhouse of reporters getting big pay days by being as obnoxious as possible. He is like Jerry Sullivan on steroids.

Why??? Taylor, once again, proved that he can't win with less than an all-time great defense. The Bills' D is so FAR from an all-time great unit, it is laughable. First thing to acknowledge is that Rex can no longer coach defense (his specialty) in the NFL. Yes, they have had a lot of injuries on D, but other teams have put up some semblance of D with lesser personnel. Rex will never be the answer, no matter the personnel. It is time, much to my dismay, to flush this tu*d again and start over. Too bad that we had a very good defense, prior to Ryan's arrival. Sadly, Rex's primary contribution to this team was to go with Tyrod as his QB.

Well, except for destroying the confidence of Cardale who is in NO way ready to play an NFL regular season game. Think 12 of 30 for 125 yards ready, if Cardale starts. Better to throw EJ to the wolves- he clearly won't be here next year. -

Tyrod Taylor proved today why he is thr try-hard likable not-good-enough QB. I am not sure that EJ was as bad as Taylor is. Once in a while EJ threw a pass on time without holding the ball and trying to scramble around then throw the ball nowhere near the receiver. -

Rex CANNOT be back next year. What would he do, hire his Dad's corpse? He brought in his brother to finish destroying the defense- which he has done VERY well. -

It is really time for Taylor to visit the bench for the rest of the season and become a FA at year end. -

Disorganized, undisciplined HORRIBLE defense and really bad quarterbacking. These are the results that you expect... -

If Rex and Tyrod are here next year, I can watch indifferently next season. Rex has no business coaching in this league as either a head coach or d-coordinator and Taylor has no business as a starting QB. Of the two, I would take Taylor next year without Ryan. A great defense should be able to hold any offense to less than 24 points in just over 3Q. It is a miracle when this defense gets a stop and unthinkable for them to get a turnover.
