  1. Yes. With Tebow at QB Fox rode a great defense to the playoffs. Nix has tried to build that side of the ball up. I think most of us would say Fitz is better than Tebow. Team just hasn't produced and I would put that squarely on coaching. Who would you have wanted him to draft at QB that was a "definite" in his three drafts? If you say Dalton and Kaepernick you are just using 20/20 hindsight. Yes, they were good in college, but they weren't can't miss guys coming out of school like Newton or Luck or RGIII were considered.
  2. What coach did you want him to hire?? Reportedly, Harbaugh, Gruden and Cowher were approached. Shanahan was approached. They all said NO. So then what? He hired the best of what was available to help with the issues they had at the time. Offense. Which that side of the ball had been downright anemic for all of Jauron's tenure. Chan wanted Fitz. And the rest of the team needed to be built up in some way because they were in bad shape. He's resigned Williams, Johnson, Chandler and Urbik and Freddy J. He raided other team's practice squads for Urbik and Rhinehart. He signed Williams and Anderson and Barnett. He signed David Nelson and Donald Jones (who is serviceable) as UFA's. Both lines have more talent now than when he arrived. He's not the coach. Obviously the team has not responded to Gailey for quite a while now. He's not a damn fortune teller. Draft picks from every team don't work out. Doesn't mean the reasoning for drafting that player wasn't sound.
  3. His grandson used to coach with the Saints several years ago.
  4. They need to take the best talent available with their first pick. Then trade back into rd. 1 to get a QB if need be.
  5. LoL. Hank is coming back to take the sails out of our winds!
  6. You're exaggerating the drops. That being said, Stevie is open most of the time. A QB who could throw and he would have many more yards and many more TD's. Easy.
  7. Nix has signed FA LB's and drafted LB's. Because they haven't played in a way you like does not mean the position was not addressed. It was. Now QB is a different matter.
  8. Pryce has always been a writer though. Not something he just picked up after he played. He was writing during his career. And I believe he studied communications at Clemson.
  9. Please. Some Bills fans have become like women. Not happy even when they're happy. If you all are so cynical, so pessimistic about any and everything, why not go support another organization? Then you don't have to constantly whine and complain. Go somewhere else and be happy.
  10. This lease is a good development. Only a miserable individual would find a reason to complain.
  11. Agree about the play calling. Between that and his general shadiness, Kiffen isn't long for USC. Pennington was a decent QB, but never elite. Like, I said, Barkley could turn out to be good, but it's no sure thing.
  12. Not necessarily. Barkley had decision making problems, consistently, this season. He's not athletically elite. He also had accuracy issues this season. And he never had the strongest arm to begin with. Living in SoCal I have to watch more SC games than I'd prefer. Barkley might turn out to be good, but he has legitimate question surrounding him that were created by his play. Disagree. Smith will be. Why? He is the QB of the modern NFL. Glennon is a traditional pocket passer. A very good one, but do you really think, if all things are equal coming out of the combine and individual workouts that Glennon would go before Smith? Or that the Bills, specifically, would draft Glennon over Smith? QB's who can throw and provide a run element are more desireable. Now Smith isn't RGIII or Newton by any means, but he's more mobile than Glennon.
  13. The penalty has a one time moratorium after year 7 only from what I've read. Year 8-9 the penalty is back in effect.
  14. A different QB would help Gailey if he were a QB who could be accurate and hit throws down field consistently. Gailey's issues are exacerbated by the mediocre QB talents of Fitz. If Tom Brady was his QB the Bills would be in the playoffs easily. Even with the bad defensive effort. There would be less three and outs. There would be less drives stalled inside the opponents 35 yd line. Which would stop Chan from punting from that area of the field. Many more deep balls are completions which would lead to easier points scored. There would be an overall, positive ripple effect, in spite of Gailey's shortcomings.
  15. 1. Totally agree. Hope McKelvin is back as well. 2. Bills are no worse than most teams. Every team has multiple players banged up by this time of the season. The problem is when a team loses multiple players to IR earlier in the season.
  16. Why do you think Kelly is the guy for the job? You think his system would translate to the NFL? Shaw from Stanford is the one to get or O'Brien if a college guy is desired. The Fewell boat has sailed, I think.
  17. Won't happen until season is over, if then. But it does needs to happen. Gailey's teams consistently lose big. Lose in bunches. Look undisciplined w/penalites, look ill prepared to give a professional effort, etc. He needs to go.
  18. LoL. Levitre getting 22m/4 years??? No way. Maybe Urbik will get something similar to that. Levitre will be near forty million bet. 37-39m just like Stevie and Kyle W. Top OG's in the league are getting 9m or so. That rate you have on McKelvin is not exorbitant at all and the Bills have the cap space. It comes down to how much they value him on D. He's a beast on ST's. Great returning and covering kicks/punts. Don't forget D. Nelson and D. Jones are restricted FA's this off season as well. I know some love to hate on any WR not named Stevie, but the Bills WR's, Jones included, are open A LOT. I don't think any of them will be what they totally can be with Fitz at QB.
  19. He said he is open to staying. That's as good as it gets. Because a player wants to stay doesn't mean the team wants him to. It is a business for all involved and emotion can't enter into it on either side. For folks who worry about it though, Nix has a good track record of keeping players who produce for the team and don't constantly run off at the mouth (i.e. Whitner. Who I liked by the way). I doubt there is any danger in Byrd not being taken care of and signing elsewhere.
  20. It does? Where did he say that? He just talked about a mindset. If they pay him he isn't going anywhere. If they can't agree on a contract he will get franchised until they do work it out. I wouldn't be worried about Byrd. He grew up around the game. Of course he would be pragmatic about it.
  21. I hate the thought of another coaching change, but when the coach REFUSES to use his only, legitimate gamebreaking offensive player week in and week out he has to be fired.
  22. Gailey consistently punts inside the opponents' 35 yard line. Consistently refuses to give CJ carries. Consistently has a team that strings losses togethsr, but cannot string wins together. Consistently throws more than runs in spite of his best playmaker being RB. Consistently coaches his team to non-winning records. I don't need to see any more of this joker. He needs to go. TODAY. I hate seeing yet another coaching change, but he makes it obvious he is not the man for the head job. Disgusting...
  23. Folks are being so emotional they can't hear the nuance of Nix's statements. Gailey and Fitz are the guys, for now, is basically what he is saying. The fact that he talked about drafting a franchise QB of the future should tell fans all we need to know about his view of Fitz. He ain't the answer. Now they have to find someone better. Can that be done by next season? We'll see. But Fitz's sand is running out. Gailey could be gone if Mr. Wilson decides. So it's not worth asking Nix about Gailey's status right now. Everyone knows the results have not been good enough, including Chan and Fitz. But no reason to throw people under the bus. I think it's fairly apparent over the past three years that Buddy sees what we see. He might not move in our time, but he will move. See Mario Williams and Mark Anderson... As moronic as Gailey can be he would probably be less so with a QB who can make all the throws a starting QB in the NFL is supposed to make. And our WR's would be a lot better too. Having Fitz is like playing with one arm and that's the arm that can't throw. Nix said QB will be priority in the off season for a reason. We just have to be patient.
  24. Why do you take time to post all of this if you just know he would never come to Buffalo? You assume a lot. You don't know what he would or wouldn't do. And truth of it is, Kelly hasn't proven jack-ish at the NFL level as a head coach. He might be horrible. Good in college doesn't mean good in the pros. Good system in college doesn't mean good system in the NFL.
  25. That's not true. He's forced fumbles. He makes very good one on one, open field tackles. He leads the DB's in tackles this season and has been one of the team's leading tacklers since he's been there. I don't know what more you want. Byrd has 282 tackles. Ed Reed has 587 and Polamalu has 613 and both have played more just about three times as many years as Byrd. He's on pace to have more tackles then either of them. Eric Weddle has played two more years and has 503 tackles. Weddle has two forced fumbles in his career. Reed has 11. Polamalu has 8. Byrd? 9 forced fumbles in less time. I don't know what people are looking at when they say Byrd doesn't add much in the run support. His rookie year that was true. But from year two on that is a highly inaccurate statement. He's an all around safety and one of the best in the league. And it's obvious. If the Bills don't tag him or get him a new contract he will easily be well paid like a top safety by another organization.
