kareem abdul-jabbars opinion piece on ferguson

No offense, but I hate that saying. It's so often used as a mindless dismissal of injustices. I prefer the saying, "let the punishment fit the crime." -
Florio says Marrone will be fired after this season
Rob's House replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd like to see Marrone get another 2-3 years either way for continuity's sake if nothing else, but I don't expect the Bills to do much this year, and I can easily see a new owner cutting bait and starting over with his own rebuilding plan. It's not what I want to see, but I'll be fairly surprised if Marrone sees a third year as Bills HC. -
I think it was an unfinished Dylan song that OCMS finished and recorded, then was covered by Rucker several years later.

Your point here fails too. The theory you're advancing is that more whites than blacks use drugs, more blacks are arrested for drugs, therefore racism. It's a silly argument that must be due to naivety or just plain ignorance. I'll give you an anecdotal example to illustrate the point: My brother in law and I are both drug users by the definition I'm sure you're using, but it's not due to luck, chance, racism, or finances that he's in jail and I haven't had any trouble with the cops since the 90s. All "drug users" are not the same. Are we pretending that tooting rails is as dangerous as smoking rocks? -

So if the cause is irrelevant then what's the point? And BTW, your lazy argument was an implication that at least one of the root causes of inequality is asymmetrical policing, which you supported with pitiful analysis, now you're trying to deflect with this "anger" business. I just find it funny (funny stupid, not funny ha ha) when liberals start pontificating from atop their high horse about things the don't understand. And if it's about inequality, wouldn't it be worth discussing the cause of that inequality? Or is it just easier to say racism, discrimination, not fair, without a logical or factual basis? -

This is lazy analysis. You've started with your conclusion, found some statistics that do nothing to inform us on causation, then declare your flawed argument is now supported. BTW, the over policing excuse is one of the weakest in the guilty white liberal's arsenal. It fails to explain the disparity in murder rates between the predominantly black projects and its evil white counterpart. If white liberals knew dick **** about the issue they'd understand that the problem, regardless of how it came to be that way, is primarily cultural, and all the feel good "solutions" the white guilt and black apologists throw out there will do less than nothing to help the next generation of black children, unless you first change the culture that produces that outcome. And only a starry eyed dreamer or a fool thinks you can fix the problem by creating an opportunity for someone who doesn't care to take advantage of it. -

I wasn't referring to him or Kareem Abdul Ali, but rather the white people that buy the bull **** he's peddling. -
If you want to expand your appreciation of country music, I recommend listening to John Anderson radio on Pandora. It provides a nice blend of older and newer country. You won't hear a whole lot that came out in the last 10 years, but unless you're into a lame pansy in a cowboy hat singing about how hot some girl is, how cold his beer is, or how he won the girl over by being the biggest "yes-man" kitty boy imaginable, you'll be glad to have it filtered out.

Just goes to show how farcical the white liberal view of the projects is, but then the view must be different from high atop the hill. To the feel good white liberal, the projects are overwhelmingly populated by honest, peaceful, and virtuous black folks who are kept in poverty by the crippling racism and discrimination by white people. The good liberal can then wipe a tear from his eye, then with the same hand pat himself on the back for being so concerned and compassionate. He gets extra brownie points because it's his own alleged advantage that outrages him so, and against which he rails. The irony is that by perpetuating this fantasy, the good liberal is also perpetuating the situation he purportedly seeks to alleviate. His ilk provide the foundation of a welfare state that makes this culture possible, provides a convenient excuse to the shiftless to remain shiftless, and ridicules those who seek to improve the situation as it exists (as opposed to the fantasy in the liberal's head) as heartless and racist. But the liberal dare not educate himself for fear of losing the gratification he receives from his ironically self-serving philosophy. -
Why Does Al Sharpton Need Police Officer's Name?
Rob's House replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Don't presume to know my experience. And don't put words in my mouth. I know white guilt is your thing and I don't want to deprive you of it, but this situation has all the markings of a manufactured crisis. Claiming some urban cops are not evenhanded when dealing with people of different colors is not the same thing as establishing the kind of systematic and violent discrimination and violence that we're being told exists. If cops were mowing down black "kids" the way the race hustlers and guilty white liberals would like us to believe, they wouldn't have to exploit Trayvon Martin typed scenarios to stir up controversy. -
If I had to guess I'd predict our opening day Oline will be Glenn-Williams-Wood-Urbik-Pears. It's not the sexy pick, but probably the right one. Rookie OLs are rarely upgrades over average veterans.

I know. I just wanted to seguay off your point to clarify the distinction that I wasn't endorsing the cops, while also highlighting your point that law enforcement is still the government and should be treated with a healthy level of skepticism. -

Rob's House replied to Beerball's topic in Off the Wall Archives
If you're going to drink and drive it's best to wait til after 3 am to drive. By then the cops aren't on the lookout because the bar crowd has cleared out, and there aren't many cars on the road so you're less likely to crash. Also, if you can't handle your buzz you have no business driving. You know who you are, make arrangements. -

I know this wasn't directed at me, but my problem with these protests has nothing to do with trusting LEOs. If that cop shot this guy down intentionally, in cold blood, and because he was black I still don't think it justifies the level of national attention because we're being fed a bogus narrative: that racist cops gunning down black "children" is an epidemic. I'd like to see some statistics to see just how frequently unarmed black "children" are gunned down by white cops. I'm guessing it's not a lot, and 1 outlier does not make an epidemic. -
He's probably a significant upgrade over Thad, but not even on the same level as Tuel. That said, he'd be the second best QB on the roster.

I just watched the video and my first take is that the kid walking into the track to confront an oncoming race car is arguably the dumbest thing I've ever seen (and I've seen a guy go 70 on a bike with his feet up on the handle bars). He truly earned his Darwin award. I feel sorry for his family, but I don't mourn the loss of his contribution to the gene pool.

Where did this DT Cohen come from
Rob's House replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm glad we've cleared this up. We're all entitled to our own opinions, it's your opinion that a Mork from Ork reference in the wake of Robin Williams death is offensive because ??, it's my opinion that your outrage is stupid, and that Jauronimo handed you your ass in this thread. It's probably also your opinion that I'm a real dick. That's ok. Glad that's settled. Fargo is a based on a true story about people who died. I find it offensive that you would hold up some silly tale about a pretentious writer inadvertently selling his soul to the devil as its superior. -
Would you swap EJ for Manziel right now?
Rob's House replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just remembered why I stopped frequenting Bills boards. You're either a protein guzzling EJ fanboy or you're a haterade drinking troll. There is no in between. -

Some of us are annoyed by the faux outrage put on display constantly by the "look at me" crowd any time they can exploit something mildly off color (or offensive to the easily offended) to showcase their moral superiority. And it runs deeper than a post, or a thread, or even this board. It's an unfortunate, and quite frankly embarrassing, phenomenon that permeates the culture, like emo and hipsters. The only thing I find interesting about your participation in this thread is that you admittedly have no problem with an aggressive overreaction to an innocuous comment, but for some reason your offended that others were curious why the aggressive party was offended and had the audacity to ask him why he thought it was offensive. That is your position, isn't it? -

Wow. I live in a nation of !@#$ing idiots. How desperately do these dipshits need racial strife to turn every isolated incident into a national crisis. I'm not a big law & order type, but it wouldn't break my heart if they started treating these rioting and looting sons of bitches like the criminals they are. Rubber bullets would send these opportunistic pu$$ies back to their ****ty government subsidized apartments quickly enough. -
Reporters arrested in Ferguson, MO

It's worth noting that reporters don't have any greater 1st amendment protections than the rest of us do. -

I find your post to be sanctimonious bull ****. Dude made an innocuous reference, and as soon as he did I knew a self-righteous !@#$ or 2 would chime in with their moral outrage. Plus, did you know the man? Did y'all hang out? Or did you just like characters he played on TV? Do yourself a favor and grow up. I like grits with ham and cheese. -

Fortunately they're unlikely to be perusing this thread so I think we're ok. -
I'm iffy all around. Cyrus Koundjio looks like raw **** to this point, but often times OL take time to get acclimated, so maybe there's something there.. Henderson looks good, but for how long? If he makes the team will he get comfortable and start tosuck? No QB on the roster gives me much confidence, but all give me hope. I'm keeping my fingers crossed because I know the talent is there, but I'm not sure if it's in the right places. We'll see.
