The jury is still out on Beasley, for me. I have not thought much of his "The Cowboys didn't respect me" whining. And, today he was not good. I hope he makes my concerns look silly. But, at the moment, I have them.

Today, the Bills defense gave up eight points and (about) 245 yards. Might it be more appropriate to simply say, "Well done!"?

I noticed this. Every time Bell made a play, I thought it was for a big gain and was surprised when I saw 2nd and 6, or 3rd and 5. I think the other factor about his runs is that he starts so far behind the line of scrimmage and uses such patience, his 7 yard (mesmerizing is a good word here) run is really only a gain of four. As for the Bills, it helped that we really flew to the ball today. While our tackling could have been better, we definitely swarmed.

This is fair and I think Allen would be the first to agree with you. He sure knows how to get back up when he's been knocked down.

Yes, the offensive line had some moments they would like to get back. I still am very optimistic with this group. Let's keep in mind: - This was the first game (as has been mentioned) with a totally overhauled group. - The Jets D-line (as has been mentioned) is very good. - Morse missed the entire preseason. I think this is really big for the entire group. The O-line plays as a team and he is their leader. I expect them to get much better and quickly. I think we are going to like our O-line this season.

I see this as an early sign that the Jets are focused on containing Allen, keeping him in the pocket.

What part of your quote, "If the Bill's fail, everything I have heard from Beane leads me to believe he will throw everyone under the bus he can to blame for the failure before himself." Is out of context? That is just a very wrong thing to say. When talking about last year's early season QB mess, Beane took responsibility acknowledging he did not bring Anderson in immediately. When talking about Shady's lack of production last year, Beane took responsibility, saying he didn't do a good job bringing in the necessary parts on offense. Beane criticizes his own performance regularly, owning it. Meanwhile, you slime him him with, "I believe he will throw everyone under the bus". If if it makes you feel better calling me a dork for calling that out....yeah, I'll accept that.

Wow, that is harsh. That is a flat out character assault. I have seen nothing from Beane to predict that potential behavior. And, I have to be honest. Tossing that statement out blindly, without justification, leaves me with no respect for your opinion.

This statement from Wawrow, "As for completion percentage, I think that needs to improve, but I am not as concerned about it as others. To me it is more about decision making and choosing to take the shorter, easier throws as opposed to leading the league in tossing it deep." captures exactly what I am looking/hoping for from Allen. If his recognition and decision making matures, the rest will take care of itself.

While I agree that Allen, Morse and Singletary can significantly lift the Bills this year, I view our defense as the real key to success. We have, potentially, a top five D possessing not only shutdown capabilities, but also point scoring talent. Our surest path to the playoffs is with the Bills defense bringing 60 minutes of hell every Sunday. That will be our foundation. The offensive side of the ball can then, if all goes well, take us from good to great. I don't have a clue as what to expect from special teams play in the coming year.

An epic "Dad Story" where Mom would neither understand, nor approve.

What I remember most about that scene was when I jumped down (no small jump!) on to the field and ended up next to Dan Marino. My first thought was, "Holy crap, he's huge!". Then, I ran like hell out onto the field.

I believe (if I have my dates correct) we also stormed the field and tore down both goalposts in December of 1990 after defeating Miami. The key was that the win clinched home field advantage through the playoffs. I (both shamefully and proudly) had my hands on both goalposts as they came down. The fans remaining in the stands then passed one set of goalposts up to the owners box a a "gift" to Ralph Wilson. The network carrying the national late game periodically cut back to the stadium to track the progress of the goal post's journey. My single happiest day as a Bills fan.

Wrong. As long as we use our differences to demean each other, there will always be division. I enjoy learning from folks who are different from me. Are you from a part of the world that I've never been to? Please, tell me about it. Are you from the city? I'm from a rural area. Please, tell me about it. Do you worship in a different way? Please, tell me about it. We are different from each other. We do not need to hide from that fact or ignore it. I do not need to meet people just like me. Honestly, I bore me. If you're different, let's enjoy it. Please, tell me about it.

You just read my mind. I live in Boston and tuned into WGR (10 minutes ago) to get a "hometown feel" for the Bills as we near the final big cut. Instead, I got a fantasy breakdown, with a very serious piece of advice, "spend your money in the draft if you want a player!" For Crissake, this is a big, big week. Show some Bills knowledge and talk REAL football.

This is where I get tangled up with the Morse scenario. I agree that moving cautiously is correct when dealing with concussions. However, I am not as comfortable as this board seems to be with him waiting until week one to play. Offensive lines are teams unto themselves. Individuals need to learn how to work most effectively together, gelling into a high-performing (we hope) unit. Inserting Mitch Morse, the group leader, at game time, doesn't make me optimistic about our offensive line's readiness to start the season.

Maybe this is how they are re-imbursing Brady for his hometown, capsaving discounts. Oooh those evil Patriots.

First off, great synopsis. Good read and quality thoughts. Thank you! I think Allen's performance itself showed us precisely why he was out there. He needs to become comfortable operating within the flow of the game. He needs to be able to perform while handing it off 75% of the time. The stupid (and it was) throw across his body provides a teachable moment. The two minute drill TD re-enforces the good and increases confidence. Whether he's the star or we're grinding it out with the run, he just needs to continue his development with awareness, discipline and readiness. He needed to be in there for game three and benefitted from it.

Oh, I definitely think he suffered from being a bit slow to process and recognize what the defense was doing and therefore, what his best options were. I don't mean that as a negative - he was a rookie who wasn't supposed to be starting yet. This year, I am hoping to see the "time to recognition and decision" be shortened. Teams that bring pressure will test that improvement. It's all part of...the process.
