  1. Peak Jamal Charles couldn't have hit the LOS fast enough to find a whole last year...........it often did not exist.........which in turn made the backs they had more tentative. It got frustrating at the end..........I remember cussing out Moss in the finale for being tentative on a play I thought should have been an 8-10 yarder that he only got 4 yards on. When Williams came in he just barreled into the hole and ripped off big yardage.......you saw a difference. Like Moss you can time Williams 40 (4.52) with a dun dial.
  2. Yeah like I said though..........if you don't block well, eventually it will compound when your backs get tentative.......then they leave yards on the table. It really all starts with blocking. Even players with extraordinary skills will not be as successful if they don't trust their blocking. Antonio Williams nice performance was more an example of a guy who hadn't been battered by unblocked defenders all year than anything else, IMO. His college tape was not very impressive. He is not as good as Singletary or Moss but if you block for him and he sees that and believes, then even he is a probably an adequate RB to win games with.
  3. Devin Singletary (4.6) and Zach Moss (4.3) both averaged more than the league averaged per carry.........and yet the team average was 4.2........so crediting the success to Allen and pinning the failure on the two lead RB's isn't an argument that holds water. I will say this........the blocking was so underwhelming for such a long stretch of the season in the run game that I felt that late in the season Singletary and Moss stopped trusting it. They were hit in the hole by unblocked defenders so regularly that they stopped hitting it as hard. I think we saw that in the finale against the Dolphins when early on I thought the RB's left some yards on the table.....and then when Williams came in he ran with abandon thru those holes and got impressive results. The backs are plenty capable.......the numbers back it up.......they produce and are strong relative to the league in yards after contact. As for replacing them........Leonard Fournette is a much more impressive beast of a RB than Najee Harris and Travis Etienne...........and he's a career 3.9 ypc RB and only averaged 3.8 last year in Tampa. If you don't block it up it doesn't matter if you are a generational talent............and if you do block well then your RB doesn't have to be great to put up huge numbers.
  4. Our pro bowlers are for real, though. Shaq laid an egg in Miami.
  5. Miami got a player they can use.........they had needs at ILB.......for the 2018 version of Shaq that they accidentally bought.
  6. The running game was disappointing and the backs were part of that but I think we have it out of perspective. They were pretty much a middle of the pack running team........about 19th in ypc and attempts but 11th in big plays(20+) and 3rd in the % of their runs that went for first downs. There is a perception that they are really bad at it, but relative the the rest of the league they aren't. As you said.........they can get A LOT better if they just block better. Their RB's are unspectacular but they also have very good #'s in terms of yards after contact........they are more than sufficient if you give them a gap to run thru. The Bills OL really struggled to block for the run last season.
  7. Do you mean like Karlos Williams and Mike Gillislee.........who they got for a 5th round pick and nothing? Sure. But Devin Singletary is a career 4.8 ypc back..........Carson is at 4.6 but has more mileage and injury concerns. Why would you want to pay 7X as much money for Carson? Part of the issue has to be the old "grass is greener on the other side" or something because people act like they would be getting a massive upgrade and the tape and the numbers do not support that.
  8. This is the kind of attitude that helped St. Louis win the Cup!
  9. In case anyone is unaware of my feeling on runnin' bax..............I would not sign one for good money in UFA even if I didn't have to take relatively extreme measures to do that......like restructuring the contracts of guys like Tre White and Dion Dawkins who were just recently signed. At the point they are wrt the salary cap......in order to add a very good player they likely need to push some money of players already under contract down the road.........just to sign a player to a backloaded contract that pushes money down the road on them too. I'm not against that.....their window is open.......but do it for players at positions that actually change the outcome of games rather than players who you just feel like change the outcome of games. There can be a difference. Follow the Vegas lines.......RB's don't move them.
  10. Or could it make that someone feel more discouraged about their situation?.........in the exact way that insta flexing is so good at doing........and why it's such a great way to advertise products at the young, impressionable and insecure? Can't say it isn't that either. There is a mixed message but it's his message and he's entitled to post whatever he wants and celebrate however he sees fit.
  11. Well ya' see not that many people in their 20's are wealthy nowadays..........times are tough for that generation.........and there is a lot of social posturing at that age.........so they are often trying to make their lives look like what they think would be considered "great" online. There's a lot more on google about the phenomena and we have some experts here.......I don't want to speak out of school but the bottom line appears to be that "it says more about them than anything".......amirite in that synopsis yolo?
  12. Physician, heal thyself.😘
  13. Suggestions to avoid controversy: - Have your agent edit a statement like that. - Don't use a self aggrandizing photo for that kind of content........on the couch, sans shades, smiling and holding baby with (fully clothed) wife would be more apropos. - THEN later send the self aggradizing lambo pic but make sure Rachel is semi-clothed in it.
  14. That they are recovering addicts or sensitive to their struggle? Talk about throwing around a dismissive, nothing statement inappropriately. You and Hap know your way around the google machine, but still.........sometimes it's OK to accept that you might not know what you don't know.
  15. It was a joke, dude. Laughter is the best medicine.........well.......I mean drugs are the best medicine.........but if you can't take them laughter is pretty good.
  16. The disconnect that you and @YoloinOhio seem to have is that being a recovering addict it's considered essential to let go of judgements as part of containing your ego. You aren't any better or worse off.......you are simply an addict. As a non-addict.........perhaps you're ego isn't hurting you at all...........it strengthens many (though I would say that Yolo may have an internet addiction you should have looked at). Asked my buddy who is a sponsor to look at it and he said that it looks like Poyer just quit drinking but is kinda' posing as if he is in recovery.......which is different.....it's a process. It's going to hit some people like that.
  17. Yes you can. 6 second delay still but just sync it up using dvr.
  18. "I realized my issues were not even close to other’s life issues" is a judgement. Judgement = ego. Some would say that's incongruent with recovery. And not necessarily a true statement. Maybe they don't wish they'd sustained 8 concussions or whatever and have had their wife talking about expecting him to be physically handicapped after football. It's all relative, is it not? So while it doesn't bother you, that's fine........you probably shouldn't shout down another addict whom it does........even if you are trying to put a friendly spin on it like he is totally mis-understanding him or something.
  19. That's not a very cool story, bro.........more like an attempt at a very personal attack on the main board. Again, I commend Poyer for putting down the bottle.........it's not the answer to anything..........malicious attacks on a message board aren't either.
  20. As a close friend of numerous alcoholics and recovering addicts of other substances......and therefore meeting new ones and their stories all the time......the message of "whoa, those guys at AA are really f*cked up.......I went 3 times and I'm scared straight" while posing in front of a pile of money on wheels in luxurious abode.........ehhh........maybe not universally useful........but cool story anyway, bro.
  21. I still would follow the premium position model in the draft...........but yeah they should be investing in that offense.........that's where the chips and $ will pay dividends. They have a TON of money.....and 3 of their first 4 #1 draft picks......tied up in that defense.
  22. Glad he is in a good place. Now is the time to hit him up for a pay cut.
  23. This board and the fascination with runnin' bax. How many examples do some of you need to see to know that you don't draft them early, don't trade good picks for them and don't pay them big. Very simple rules. If Barkley becomes a free agent and has to take a cheap, Leonard Fournette kinda' deal.........and you really need a veteran RB.........that's your opening.
  24. Yeah, it is........to prove it I will give you an even more extreme example than say........last weeks signing of JJ Watt for $15M per year aav that has just a $5M cap figure in year one. Let's say the best defensive player in the NFL was available in UFA and he wanted to go to a winning team with a good QB.......there aren't any $25M per year pass rushers this season........but let's say that you sign one to a 5 year $125M contract. That deal has a $20M signing bonus and $80M in other guarantees.........so a huge deal with $100M gtd. First year.........base $1M and $4M in amortized bonus($20M/5 years). That's a $5M cap figure, boss. Rest of contract: 2) $15M +4M 3) $20M +4M 4) $25M +4M 5) $44M(only $19M gtd) +4M The advantage of putting the guarantees into base salary is that they can be converted to bonus money to create cap room in future seasons.........which is exactly what's going on in KC and Tampa right now. Mahomes signed a $50M per year deal last summer.........his cap hit for 2020 was just $5.3M. So yeah they could easily afford that much cheaper DE equivalent of Tre White and Stefon Diggs and fit him under the cap for $5M in year 1. But damn........it's hard to do with less than $5M in space.........a good free agent is going to want a signing bonus of at least the aav of the deal.
