You lost it at "I still like what the Lions did". There hasn't been a 1st round selected RB that has lived up to the hype for the team that drafted him since Adrian Peterson in 2007.

Have you seen him? He is built for wind confusion. -
Bills Sign UDFA 6’6 WR Shavers (Reportedly 3 year deal)

There isn't a lot of video of him from what I saw but yeah he doesn't look very fast in the little bit of it. Not 4.38 likely. There are a few of these traits WR's with stories of interest. Shavers wasn't one of the plethora of 5 stars in this draft but he was a big time recruit with rare size. Back in 2017 that is. The Bills got another one with Jalen Wayne part of the Reggie Wayne family. I was hoping for Shedrick Jackson........nephew of Bo. He signed with Cinci. All of these guys will probably be playing spring football in a couple years but it adds interest to the preseason etc.. -
He's better than Bobby Hart. But I doubt he moves better. Hart has played a lot of tackle in the NFL and keeps getting jobs because he's a good athlete for his size. He was one of the top tackle recruits in the country entering Florida State. 5 star I believe. Just hasn't materialized but it's not that he's incapable of moving like an NFL guard. Torrence is reportedly very good at technical aspects of the game and smart which allows him to be quick to identify blitzes and stunts.

They traded a franchise QB who then guided the other team to a SB for the right to have a ton of extra draft capital. And came out of it with a RB and a MLB in round 1? When they have holes at many premium positions. Their running game was fine. People who think Hendon Hooker is going to be a franchise QB also probably thought Mason Rudolph was too. Yeah it was a poor use of draft capital.

Oh so you weren't confused by his throwback facial features? Be honest.

Beane magic 2019 round 2

Then it's official.......the runnin' back well is dry.

I wasn't too encouraged by Edwards' introduction to the WNY media. Had a real "I probably couldn't play today" vibe. I have no expectations there. I wouldn't be averse to selecting Ekiyor as well if available. Liked him too.
-
I actually presume Edwards is done with the concussions. I have zero faith in Beane's flyers. McGovern contract they can get out of after next year. Only thing I have less faith in than his flyers are his surprise healthy UFA signings. The runway is probably about done on Ike Boettger too. I saw guard as more of a need in this draft and there was more depth there than some years so never really considered they would add less than two interior OL.
-
More in the line of versatile OL. A once highly regarded OT prospect early in his career who projects to the NFL as a guard. Similar to a Ryan Bates versatility.
-
For perspective......probably 7-8 of the first 10 picks this year would have gone ahead of last years top 10 had they been coming out........a draft which wasn't as criticized as this group. There are a few like Harrison and Bowers who are locks but not as many as this years group. Caleb Williams is wildly overrated by people who think he's so much better than this years QB prospects.
-
In fairness.........this was said last year as well. A lot of big measurable having, high recruit pedigree players figured to be available and they just didn't pan out and produce up to expectations last season.
-
It's good that we have a few bored people like yourself who chime in with criticisms of your fellow fans despite no interest in the draft yourself.

As noted earlier, JBC was the victim of that long bomb to Shorter versus LSU. Considering the huge cushion and JBC's 4.4 speed it gives a nice perspective on how Shorter can run by a player on a long route who is certainly quicker in a shorter space.

RD 5, Pick 150: WR Justin Shorter, Florida
BADOLBILZ replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah he really ate up Jarrick Bernard-Converse on that play. JBC is a draftable talent. -
Bills make wholesale rotations on the DL. Everybody has to be an every down player.
-
The more the mouth-breathers boo him.........the more recognizable and important he is. The boo'ing just makes him a bigger part of the game and gets him more camera time etc.. Funny that the idiots still think expressing their public dislike of him is going to have any negative effect on him or the league whatsoever.

RD 5, Pick 150: WR Justin Shorter, Florida

Yeah that was my first reaction. One of a higher than normal number of former 5 stars(35) in this class that gets so little love. Also another player who may address the lack of size that I think showed up in the bad weather of that playoff loss. Hard to be incredibly accurate outside the hashes in that stadium late in the year. Bigger players in the passing game were a priority, IMO. And a potential Gabe Davis replacement. I don't think he deserved the selection over what was left on the board at other positions but it's easy to see why. This wasn't a BPA, IMO........this was another clear response to a perceived "short" on their current roster. -
I think you want to come out of a draft that is strong at a position with value talent from that position. Would have been nice to stay put and select Rush, IMO. Not hard to envision boundary CB being a need next draft and having to draft a lesser talent earlier to fill it.
-
Yeah they don't have it. Unless Davis elevates his game. Hopefully they'll be able to work the middle that much better though.

If I felt the way that Marino does I wouldn't have had Williams as a 5th or 6th round pick. Sometimes I am perplexed about how some of these guys who make a living doing draft analysis stack their boards. He's also not really high on Torrence despite having him as his 40th best player. My opinion is about the same........it's an awkward fit.......but in general I wouldn't have had him that close to the 1st round to begin with. Marino was literally mocking him to go in round 1.

McShay is not one whose acumen I respect at all but he has a strange value aspect in that everyone on set gets his goat no matter what show it is on ESPN........especially Kiper......who by rights should be the easy one to pick on. So ESPN gets a lot of mileage out of his constant state of annoyance and perma-scowl all draft season. He's neither a good evaluator or good at presenting his opinions but he's their bumbling heel. I wonder if they will reach a point where they elevate someone whose opinions are respected.
-
Kincaid/Torrence feels very much like a reaction to that loss to Cincinnati. Anyone who was there not only saw them lose the LOS against a team that isn't great at the LOS.......but also the reality that the receiving corps was ill-equipped for the conditions. The Bills not only play in a windy stadium but they play on a crowned field that makes it more difficult to be deadly accurate outside the hashes. You want to be able to throw inside them when the weather gets bad and/or you want some options outside who have a large catch radius as Cinci had with Tee Higgins.
-
Yeah I was just referring to the rationale if they were going to draft for need. I go premium positions early. Sanders, due to pass rush potential, is the most likely prospect to give you premium position type(pass rush) production. Tackling can be improved. Turning a 6' tall 220 something LB into a guy who can be moved around to impact the pass rush is much less likely.
