He was perhaps not really in a position to have regrets but we all saw Bill hug and whisper a few words in Josh’s ear after the win in NE. Bill isn’t an exuberant personality given to hyperbole. Like him or loath him the respect he showed #17 is surely one of the most meaningful of compliments that he has ever been paid to date. Of course anybody who had a realistic shot has to regret not drafting him. People have for years speculated regarding his ceiling, really to no purpose given the lack of evidence and the many uncertainties affecting a player’s (especially a QBs) development. Suffice it to say that we now know that his ceiling is to become the greatest active player in the game. Is he there yet? Nope. But he could well be on his way.

Bringing Josh Allen along slowly - Always the debate
starrymessenger replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think Josh saw the field quite a lot his rookie year (12 games). I was one who argued in favour of sitting him because he was obviously raw. I was wrong. I think he could have started earlier but I don’t think that would have made much of a difference in terms of his progression and that he’d be pretty much in the same place today. I rather tend to think that if he had had the benefit of developing in a big school program he’d be further ahead even now. -
All Pro Ballot: Bill Barnwell Edition

I agree with you, sort of. I think they are a good base nickel D with really an outstanding secondary (esp when TW is good to go). A good nose and pass rushing DE would probably put them over the top as a complete and stellar top shelf unit. Frazier and McD are also pretty good at scheming, disguising coverages, play calling on that side of the ball etc… What it comes down to imo is how they perform now that crunch time has arrived and with it consistently superior opposition, including the opposition that they are likely going to face against which they do not match up especially well, and that they have not been built to defeat. I actually have a lot of faith in McD and Frazier getting them ready and think they have it in them so I believe that they are capable of coming up big now that they will have to. If they can do that I will unreservedly conclude that they are really very good. But I haven’t seen it yet, at least not entirely to my satisfaction, and so the jury is still out and the final grade has yet to be assigned. -
If Beas is 100% he’s absolutely a top slot WR and playmaker and a crucial cog in the O machine. Thing is I don’t think I’ve seen that guy all year (when he sees the field). Is it the injury? Has he lost a step? Regardless Isaiah needs to see the field more, as many have said. He has great chemistry with Josh. Daboll needs to find ways for him, which he should be able to do.

Who the BLEEP do they think I was?
starrymessenger replied to Long Suffering Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Saw where the Pats actually had a good pressure total (40%+) which surprised me because based on the eye test my impression was that the O-line did a pretty decent job in pass pro and run blocking (which frankly surprised me). -
Myles Bryant totally overmatched by Isiah.

If the Bills re-sign Edmunds, they're stupid.

I’m not a fan of Tremaine. I think the point has been made that his length is actually a disadvantage when trying to disengage from blocks because he then lacks leverage and he appears to not use his hands well either. And there are other issues/problems that have been extensively commented. There is no doubt however that he would look a lot better in a D that featured a Star and Kawaan Short at the top of their game like Luke Kuechly had in Carolina. He would probably even turn in the occasional big play. -
Leslie Frazier's interview Monday 12/13

There’s nothing inherently wrong with McD’s D imo. Its just that it would be a lot better if the down linemen were better. In Carolina his Ds were good against the run. Here not so much. They don’t reliably execute their one gap assignments and penetrate the backfield to disrupt the offence. It’s probably one reason for the emphasis on Dline in last years draft. -

Yeah he is more conservative than his mentor Johnson was in that regard. There isn’t anything wrong with that philosophy. In fact you are probably further ahead if you can bring pressure when you want/need to with a four man front. Unfortunately we can’t reliably do that (yet). -

He’s a very good change of pace back if you pair him with someone like D. Cook. But clearly he’s our #1 for now. -

True. The Bills are no longer a contender, but they are a dangerous team. Thanks to Josh. He is a big horse.
