  1. If he's fully recovered from injury Jets got a good back for next to nothing.
  2. If they were in a deep cover 2 and you couldn't find a run game that's when you'd have a problem. Devin is right now contributing all this offence needs in the way of a run game. He's fine as the lead back provided he's good with ball security. The Bills seem to improve their running offence as the year goes on (at least they did last year) and the appear to be doing so again. For his whole career he's been a durable workhorse, including his college days. He's not a game breaker but he's good enuf to keep us from having to pass 60 times a game, which would make that deep cover 2 thing a problem even with Allen, Diggs and Davis. In an ideal world I too see him best as complementary back to a true # 1, but that guy was not CMC, more like the guy in Indy or even the Jets rook. But those guys are hard to find, especially if you don't take an RB with an early pick in the draft. Even as a passing team we do need to run the ball but I think our RBs are capable of getting the job done.
  3. It's been 2 1/2 years since CMC has been a game breaker.
  4. To me Singletary has shown that he can function adequately as the feature back and he does not have CMC's injury history. I don't think whatever extra marginal value CMC might provide is worth the 32nd pick. Pass.
  5. I think you meant to say Mahomes. I agree that Herbert is much less visibly animated than either Allen or Mahomes. That's probably what caused Miami to discount his competitive nature. But there are different ways to show leadership and the best cred is to do so by example, which all three of them do. I'm sure the guys in the huddle trust Herbert and believe in him. He is a great young player and it's important too to say that he appears to be a good person without character flaws, so no Jeff George or Cutler who may have had the skills but not the (leadership) personality. Eli was definitely toned down but he's a funny guy and no doubt his teammates knew him a lot better than any observers. Regarding the question asked in this thread about trading a young superstar QB in his prime of course that is hypothetically possible imo. I say that believing that Allen's particular combination of physical skills, intelligence, psychological aptitudes and work ethic have perhaps never before been seen. But every commodity (or player) has its price, its just that it's likely to be prohibitive. Like maybe four all pros in their prime at positions of need and a half dozen first round picks. A perennial bottom feeding team with few prospects for improvement in reasonable time frames despite having a guy like Allen could feel that their path to competitiveness might be shorter if they traded him away.
  6. Thinking that Herbert was not a leader and a winner is what led Miami to pick Tua ahead of him. That was a mistake. The guy actually is very competitive.
  7. He’d be a great complement to a true #1 back.
  8. But does he even have possession and a complete pass in that case.
  9. Or catch it himself. He’s bigger and stronger than Levi.
  10. Its the opposite of having vision.
  11. Should have been a completion. Not on him.
  12. I think Josh is trying to beat the wind but putting too much mustard on his throws.
  13. I thought Pickens was the best WR in the draft. A steal in the second round. Pickens has since training camp looked every bit a NFL ready QB. Steelers have excellent receivers and our secondary is beat up. That’s a great matchup for Pitt.
  14. Lawson got pressure in spite of a blatant hold. Hope Poyer is ok. Looked like he was in pain on the bench after his pick. He’s already banged up.
  15. And Diggs is a better, more important player himself since he got here. In fact Allen was why he was happy to come. Diggs does a lot to bring more out of Allen but Allen makes everybody on O better. I look forward to seeing him work more with Shakir. I think their skill sets will complement nicely. Maybe very very nicely ala Brady\Edellman.
  16. Shakir/Allen combo is going to be lethal.
  17. Davis is a HOF RB. We have Devin and Moss.
  18. Elway wasn’t a winner until Terrell Davis showed up. We just don’t have a #1 RB.
  19. The guys calling the game were silent too. Weird. So obvious.
  20. Hes had more than his share of hard luck. I too wonder whether he’s maybe just not sturdy enough to play at this level.
