Agreed. That's why I'd like to supplement a (high) draft pick with a veteran free agent (assuming Gabe is gone). We can't afford Higgins or Ridley (who McD wouldn't want for other reasons). Pickings look slim. Maybe Mooney on an incentive laden deal. Has had a 1000 yard season. Still only 26. At least we could probably afford him. Maybe he would flourish with Josh. A lot different passing game than in Chicago.

DK didn't go in the first two rounds either. That was a mistake they won't make again. I expect Leggett to go late first early second.

Coach has to know if his player can execute what he's being asked to do. Hamlin? Really? I'm not surprised at the result. He is also responsible for ensuring the players are disciplined enough to get the job done before he calls it. This was a completely undisciplined fiasco where the intention was telegraphed. Gee maybe they didn't practice it enuf. Oh and maybe the defensive set should inform as to the viability of the call. What was it eight or nine guys in the box? Of course the coach is not on the field but that doesn't take him off the hook. If it did they would all have championship rings because I'm pretty sure most NFL coaches know enuf to tell their players exactly what they need to do. So good execution is not just a player responsibility.

How about the D-line? 1 sack in two playoff games

Milano and Douglas are playmakers imo. Bernard is a playmaker. Johnson. There are plenty of Guys who can make plays. -
Nabors is the second best receiver in this WR heavy draft. He will be long gone and probably well out of trade up range.
-
Yes he may be there at 28. Thing is he would be a rook and therefore in need of development. I would add 2 WRs to the starting lineup but I'd like to get a vet as well as a rook. Darnell Mooney is an UFA. Ran a 4.38. Gets separation all day. Had a down 2023 with nagging injury and an offence that really couldn't make the best of his talent in the passing game. Sure give me Tee Higgins but I don't think we have the space for that. Mooney is a comparable type receiver to Franklin and you can probably sign him to an incentive laden affordable deal. Hes 26 yrs old. Then I'd draft another in the first. The top five guys are likely gone by 28 but you might have a shot at Xavier Leggett, maybe even with a small move up the board. If he's there I'd run to the podium. You'd prolly have to do a Mike Ditke/Ricky Williams to get him.

Where does this regime go from here?

I'd target Darnell Mooney in FA and take another wideout in the first round of the draft, maybe Xavier Leggett. I'd even move up if a blue chipper fell. This years WR draft is full of potential #1s but you are risking it if you wait till the later rounds even if there may be some promising guys there too. -

I'd say the Dan Fouts Chargers or the Warren Moon Oilers because Josh is more like those guys than like Rivers imo. Both HOF guys who never saw a championship game. -
Unlike some I've got nothing against Mahomes. He's obviously a great QB and frankly seems a pretty good stand up guy. I think Ravens beat him though and im good with that because I don't want to turbo charge Nick Wright.

And that's why it was a bad call. Terrible execution. To me that's 100% coaching.

Tough nuggies. Comes with the turf. All he's asked to do is kick.

Random talking head says something about the Bills

I like Joe Burrow but Cincinnati gave him great 1,2 and 3 receivers. Bills surrounded Allen with triple A talent. -

At least two of those drops were guaranteed TDs. Cook and Diggs. Sherfield's was good for at least three points as well...oh wait -
McDermott - Excuses, Valid but concerning

Yeah but McD does have Allen. -

Allen was the best player on the field yesterday. -
We would have had a chance. He made sure we didn't. I blame Bass for not doing his job, pretty much all year.

If he does that I'll eat my jeep.

Divisional Playoffs - Chiefs at Bills - Post game thread

Well if Bass makes the kick you at least have a chance. Football's a funny game. -
Sign a top FA receiver and draft another one - in the first round. Then McD can draft/sign all the corners and safeties he wants.
