McD’s fingerprints on draft choices
starrymessenger replied to WIDE LEFT's topic in The Stadium Wall
Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl without much in the way of weapons. A first round D selection could be a good pick. Depends on the evaluation and ultimately the player. Having said that I think the Bills go WR in the first and they will add another later in the draft or in FA (Mooney?). i would agree with that if indeed that's the direction they go in. -
McD’s fingerprints on draft choices
starrymessenger replied to WIDE LEFT's topic in The Stadium Wall
Mahomes won this year because he has Spags, a great secondary and Chris Jones. -
Seeing the Chiefs lining up with a first down at the five yard line in OT how could one not think back to Brady and the Pats lining up with a first near the goal line at the end back then. And the outcome was the same. No surprise.
-
He's got Samuel and CMC so he puts the game on Purdy's shoulders/arm in the face of a blitzing front backed up by an outstanding secondary. He did this at a crucial interval and he went back to it even after seeing Purdy running for his life and/or throwing off his back foot. Allen can sometimes get away with this. Purdy? Colour me puzzled, but then I'm not a genius like him.

Catching their breath. They are gassed.

He never does. Likes to lose the same way every time.

Hot Mic Baker Mayfield returning to Bucs
starrymessenger replied to BaaadThingsMan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Baker's not by any means elite and he has yet to prove himself a franchise guy but he's a good starting calibre NFL QB who you can definitely win with. That's actually saying a lot because there aren't many of them and it's not easy to do. I wish him all the best (except when we are in Tampa or he is in Blo). -
Should the Bills trade up for their own “Julio Jones”
starrymessenger replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
You are right imo about Nabers. I really don't think there is much to differentiate him from MHJ. Not saying they are the same player. They are not. I mean in terms of what they can bring to a team by way of value added. Nabers too is absolutely phenomenal. You can nit pick all you like but there are no holes in his game. He's as impressive a route runner as MHJ and he's better after the catch. Both these guys are lights out. -
Agree with what has already said regarding his not being a first round pick though that's where some mocks have him. Some have also suggested that he can play on the outside because of his speed. Maybe in college but not at the next level imo. Also, as you mention, he's a smaller guy with injury history (was it four games just last year?). He's a good route runner and can absolutely be an immediate contributor somewhere in the slot. Not what we are looking for.

Gunner's 2024 Mock Draft - FINAL v3.0 NOW LIVE (p.13)
starrymessenger replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
If he hadn’t had a better second day you’d have to ask a lot of questions. The DBs are at a big disadvantage in those drills all by themselves and often having to guess what the WR is going to do. -
Will Derrick Henry be a Bill in 2024?
starrymessenger replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think he catches really well. Don’t think he had a single drop. -

if B. Rice is sitting there in later rounds we should run to the podium. Developmental pick but has all the right traits. -
The Bills' abject lack of a deep middle passing game
starrymessenger replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
They seemed to take a step back against KC. Kincaid had 5 receptions on 5 targets but only for around 50 yards. -
Right. The game is actually less important than the week long practices for evaluation purposes.

I think a lot will depend on how many premium prospects at the WR position are still on the board after say the 20th spot. Or if there is a guy they have targeted and really like they may move up especially if they fear a team ahead of them taking the guy or being leapfrogged by a team with a big WR need picking after them but capable of moving up, even aggressively (KC). -
Three Potential Landing Spots For Tee Higgins
starrymessenger replied to Peace Frog's topic in The Stadium Wall
While Higgins has lots of nice things to say about the Bengals he and his camp continue to insist on a contract. The Bengals are not extending him so maybe where they wind up is tag and trade. -
And corndogs.
-
My nightmare is KC leapfrogging us to nab a WR that we covet and would have taken at 28.

Though a very tough call right now I have DM as the #1 prospect at QB though I think he's going 2nd or 3rd in the first. JMO but I cannot imagine JD as a 4th round prospect. I think he's also going 2nd or 3rd overall.
-
6'3" is a lot better for "physical dominance" imo.
-
I think Pats go QB (JD) and Tee Higgins in FA. But I do agree MHJ is hard to pass on.

I would pair Mooney with A. Mitchell. I would not be surprised if the Pats took Higgins in FA to pair with JD. Higgins is what Devante Parker should be but is not. They are fine with what they have got as slot receivers. -
Especially for a guy whose calling card is supposed to be physical dominance.

I think Leggette's 40 could disappoint those thinking he's running in the 4.3s. My guess is low to mid-4.4s at best. His field/ play speed is probably very fast and frankly I would think that's more important than his 40 time but he is a long strider who needs a few steps to max out.
