  1. Scouts and GMs will be looking closely at his performance against top level competition at the Senior Bowl Jan 30. If he does well you will have to spend a first to land him. I like him a lot and think he would be the ideal 2 year project with definite franchise QB potential. Only question marks are level of competition and, get ready for it, possible "slow eyes". Regardless IMO he has as much upside or possibly more than Goff who will be the first QB off the board. Really there is a lot to like there.
  2. Kudos to Cogs and to the Bills, who went from having no guards to having one of the best in the game. Heck, even if the run game was limited by injury I thought he had a good game against the Jets # 1 rush defence the other day.
  3. His hands may be large but are said also to not be very good. Lots of drops. He's also extremely slow.
  4. Thats pretty good but it has a 200MM price tag.
  5. That is terrible luck. Sorry to see a great player go down like that just when he's about to get his well deserved payday.
  6. For the first 59 minutes Fouts had his nose firmly planted in the Jets rear end. Really enjoyed Boomer too. His pregame call was loud for Jets win. No hedging. As the half time segment was ending he was desperate to jump in to let everyone know how the Jets were going to come back and wrap this thing up. Super smug about it. Super stupid too.
  7. The loss with Bledsoe against the Steeler backups years ago still casts a pall over this team and fanbase. Someone said that even if they lose the Jets will still be 10-6 and will take satisfaction from their season. I disagree and think that a loss to the Bills will curse that team for a decade. Its a huge game for the Jets and not just because it determines their playoff fate this year. They really cannot afford to lose. It will be an unpleasant memory forever.
  8. Thats what the interview and other due diligence procedures are all about. I would make it clear to him straight up that he is in no way ready to start and sits for years in the most likely scenario. If he can't live with that I would pass. You local boys may be closer to the action than us out of towners, but he seems to have turned it around maturation wise and I have to think Jimbo could help mentor him for that.
  9. You are right IMO. He's best served going back to school for another year but if he comes out this year he is an ideal prospect to sit behind Tyrod for a couple of years. If he comes out he will likely cost at least a third. If he waits and has another good season he is a first rounder IMO. He's mobile, has a cannon for an arm and, here's the thing, he is accurate with it. Hes also a red ass competitor. I like that.
  10. I agree. Third round would be great but I think you need to spend a second to get him, especially where we are going to pick. Maybe Jimbo can mentor him on the maturity thingee.
  11. If the Jets can't win this game they will be an even bigger laughing stock than the Bills.
  12. No snark. If you know the player your opinion on whether he was in fact at less than 100% is entirely valid and appreciated.
  13. He said before the game that he was throwing as hard as ever, but you know the player so I'll take your word for it.
  14. Yeah, our STs stunk even with arguably one of the best gunners in the league so somehow I tend to doubt that Boobie was anything of a difference maker in that regard. I think everyone agrees he couldnt hold Fred's jock as a running back. And with respect to age, STs is where you want a younger player who can work on being a useful backup and maybe someday a starter, not exactly something you could hope for from Boobie. Seems like more a Doug Whaley defence argument than a football one. With respect to Gillislee, who I think is a good find, I wonder if he could be serviceable as a return man for kickoffs and maybe for punts. He has excellent vision and a decent burst even if not a real burner.
  15. Fred was'nt good just because he played for a lousy team. Fred would have stood out on lots of teams, especially better one's I would think where Ds wouldn't have keyed on him as much. In the year he broke his leg, he was pretty much top three or so of all purpose backs in the league. Heck of a player. Did everything well. Wishing him well in theplayoffs.
  16. Can hardly wait to see how Coker does against Clemson. He wasnt dealing with the Bama D to be sure but the Spartan's are'nt dog meat and they pretty much took the run away forcing Coker to beat them with his arm, which he was clearly able to do.
  17. Absolutely correct of course, but somehow i don't think that Cook would have looked much better than Coker had he been under centre for Bama. So I think I'd rather have Coker in round 5 than Cook early on. Bama's D was great last night but NFL defences are pretty good too.
  18. I agree Boobie over Fred made no sense. Herron over Fred maked no sense either. But turning the page our stable of backs looks great for 2016. I really hope Karlos is able to avoid concussion related problems that could threaten his career. IMO he is a gem with a higher ceiling than given credit for. I first thought of him as a good change of pace north south one cut and go kinda guy. I think he is more than that. He has really good vision and can cut sharply more than once a carry. Plus of course he is a load and fast enuf to turn the corner as well as run inside. I love seeing DBs and LBs shy away from that big train comin!
  19. Yeah i would like M. Sanu, but you are right he's allegedly unhappy with the # of targets he gets in Cinci.
  20. Except that some scouts and NFL execs dont like him either (reputedly) and he is considered by some the most likely QB to drop in the draft. You have to at least entertain the possibility that some QB needy team (and the Bills are in that group still) will jump on him thinking they got a bargain. Speaking as a casual fan I hope thats not us. I think id rather have that Coker kid somewhere in the 5-7 rounds. The other guy looked like a poor man's Brandon Weedon. One of the knocks on him was the level of competition he's faced (except maybe for Rutgers). Well he was up against a really good D yesterday and look what happened. So pass. JMO.
  21. He's not going anywhere IMO. Broncos have groomed him now for years and have a lot invested in his development. I'm going to cheat and say I'd like to have them both and see them compete for the starting job, but of course that makes no sense for lots of reasons. Just saying i like them both. If I had to chose based on what I've seen to date I would opt for Osweiler. He's been impressive and his game is better suited to the NFL. He is the prototypical pocket passer. I like what Tyrod has been able to do but there is greater risk there - risk of injury and that he may ultimately be limited by the holes in his game (unless you blame it all on Roman, which I would hesitate to do).
  22. Some here seem to think that if healthy Harvin is legit as a # 1 guy, so why not ask him to assume a low cost, limited and contingent role in the O. To me this distorts the actual profile. No question that earlier in his career he was one of the most dynamic and explosive weapons in the game. While calling him a "gadget player" is probably unfair much of his production was from use otherwise than as a WR. He has never been anything like a true # 1 receiver IMO. Whats more it looks to me, whether as a result of injury or or other reason, he has lost some of his burst and cutting/change of direction ability, which is important because tho he is a burner hes hardly the fastest guy and there are many players just as fast and faster. So as a wideout he was never as good as some people seem to think and hes not as dangerous a weapon now as he has been in the past when looking at his total skill set. And thats before you even get into the possible head case problems and potential negative lockerroom issues. Again, if you dont have to pay him for non-performance the issue is not financial. Its a roster spot and loss of an opportunity to invest in someone who might actually help improve your WR corps moving forward. Instead of dredging up a Percy Harvin how about doing what teams good at finding and developing WRs do, like Zona, Pitt, Cinci etc...Find a John Brown, Martavius Bryant etc...in the draft. Look for good free agents -Cinci have Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu as FA in 2016. They are not going to sign or franchise both of them (and probably neither of them will be franchised). Look for promising players late in the draft- someone like Keyarris Garrett of Tulsa - Antonio Brown was a sixth round selection too. Opting instead for Harvin, whose not even sure he wants to play football and has done nothing recently to show he does, is just lazing out and hoping for the best. Its what fraudulent coaches, GMs and organizations do. Heres a thought - lets start doing it right, even if that means doing it the hard way.
