  1. Good route runners get separation. Route running can be taught (and therefore learned). But it's also a talent and ability the components of which some guys are blessed to have more of than others. It is a large part of the art of wide receiving, especially at the NFL level, and when it's done well it's nice to see.
  2. I interpret you to be saying that our pass catchers would probably look (and perform) a lot better if we had an elite passer under centre. Sure Arod and a good OC could transform this receiving corps such that it would be unrecognizable. Not saying that they would be great, the top shelf talent is not there, there would still be drops, but the passing game would have to be taken very seriously by the opposition as a threat (rather than as an opportunity).
  3. No doubt Bills need OLine help (amongst other things) but I'm a little wary of passing on a player like Oliver (or Bosa) to take a highly touted OT. So many highly drafted OTs disappoint or flat out bust. It seems like a very difficult position to project with any confidence. I get that the Bills have lots of holes to fill, especially on O, but to me if you have the chance to pick a defensive player who clearly projects as elite and may even be a generational talent you run to the podium IMO.
  4. If there was any truth to the story that they were asking for a 2+3 then I have to believe they weren't interested in moving him. Nobody was going there. Even if that was only the opening ask, hard to negotiate down without looking a little foolish.
  5. Wonder what the charge was. Is stupidity a felony? OTOH maybe it was loaded with dynamite. These days you just never know.
  6. They aren't just good. They are great! But only every second outing. The rest of the time they aren't so good. So they have the wherewithal to play at a very high level but they need to be more consistent. But of course that's hard to do when they get no help from the offence. They would be that much better if the O was actually capable of at least holding its own (which it can't). More first downs and time of possession would be great, but apparently we can't have any of that. McDermott and Frazier know what they are doing on that side of the ball both with respect to scheme/adjustments and evaluating talent as evidenced in the draft. You can't win with 1\2 of a football team but the guys deserve a lot of credit for their effort on D, especially given their weekly gut busting suicide missions.
  7. Well Luke Keukly was only 21. And Edmunds has not been the player LK was his rookie year (either before or after he took over at MLB). Somebody asked whether Edmunds was better than Ridley and #65. Ridley is legit as a #1 receiver IMO so the answer to that question is not obvious. Edmunds has all the physical traits, like Allen, but there is lots of room for needed improvement in his case too.
  8. Like Allen he has all the tools. Like Allen he needs to learn how to use them often and well.
  9. Agree, except according to some NY reports he really is thinking about FA (though maybe just to put the Jets on notice that he needs to be paid now, who knows). I really like the player. Big, strong, young, sure handed, gets open and has a nose for the end zone.
  10. I thought he might have been ok in Chiefs scheme. Obviously he can't cover but they run a base 3/4 with lots of nickel and dime coverage mixed that could maybe make up for his deficiencies in the passing game. Could it be that is what Chiefs were thinking?
  11. I would not trade for DT. Go hard at Quincy Enunwa and the Boyd kid in Cincinnati or maybe Sanu - assuming they are on the market. Then use a high pick for a prospective # 1 and our problems are solved.
  12. He could definitely help a WR needy team (possession/red zone) looking to make the playoffs, assuming a team with a competent QB/OC. He's obviously not motivated to play here and could be used to better advantage elsewhere. A 5th could be a reasonable expectation IMO.
  13. Agree the Bills won't touch him. Dont know how good we are tho. More like good to go to the Division basement for a while.
  14. I've seen maybe 3 or 4 of his college games while at OM. Like others I've also seen a little during preseason. Looks to me like he can play and could have a career in the NFL, though obviously he would have a lot to prove just with respect to his ability to compete effectively at this level. He looks to be crazy tho and I have a hard time seeing Coach cutting a choirboy to make room for Lucifer in the flesh. As others have said signing him could create a risk of bad chemistry what with all the challenges Allen has to deal with already and Kelly's volatile personality. Always sad to see someone who is a waste of talent.
  15. We will win because the Pats have won so much they're tired of winning.
  16. Actually im wondering if maybe this isn't so serious. Maybe he gets into an argument with someone he is lawfully visiting (as far as entry/access is concerned), is asked to leave but keeps arguing instead so the owner/ occupant goes nuclear and calls the cops to eject him.
  17. I wonder if someone is unlawfully in a dwelling if he/she refuses to leave when asked to do so?
  18. The time to land Bridgewater was months ago when he could be had for next to nothing. I thought he was by far the best option at the time. I assumed that we passed because of the injury thingy. I sure hope these guys knew what they were doing when they drafted Josh Allen. Not targeting Teddy was dumb IMO. Bridgewater is not at all like Tyrod. In fact he's sorta like the opposite.
  19. We don't have an offence to speak of so the game shouldn't be competitive, but I wouldn't discount the possibility that McDermott, Frazier and the Bills D bounce back enuf to prevent a total humiliation on the national stage. They will wear down eventually since we are only playing with half a deck but I expect a much better effort than against the Colts.
  20. Pic of Tucker's reaction is priceless. After the Ravens scored I thought to myself (having no dog in that fight) wouldn't it be a hoot if the best kicker in the game muffed the extra point. I knew it wasn't possible tho. Football is a funny game that can mess with your head.
  21. Whoever starts Monday night the end result will almost certainly be ugly. B&B are probably salivating at the chance of setting a record for points by one team in a game and of creative and never before seen ways ways to run up the score. And its probably likely that it will develop into a NE pickfest regardless of who is serving them up. I think signing Anderson was a good move. They needed to bring in a vet and they did. But I don't think he should be playing. To me his role should be mentoring Allen full time. He's probably the best QB coach the Bills have right now. He should be doing what McCown is doing for the Jets. So I would start NP. If I thought, like most people, he was for sure the worst excuse for a QB to ever walk on a football field I probably wouldn't do that. But I'm not there yet. Allen wound up in a situation that is very much less than ideal. Many feel it could derail his career. But so did Peterman. He might never be any good but I think he would look a lot better in an O organized and play called/designed by Andy Reid or Sean Payton. As far as the arm strength narrative is concerned, I don't think it accounts for his failure entirely. To me his problems have more to do with processing and adjusting to the speed of the game, same as for almost all raw college QBs. Many knowledgeable posters strongly disagree so I know I might be wrong. In any event I doubt that Coach has the stones to trot out NP as his starter any time soon or perhaps ever again.
  22. No doubt that, unlike Allen, PM was drafted into an ideal situation. The same smarts in evaluating talent on the offensive side of things that led the Chiefs to trade up for him is evident in their other selections as well, most notably in a couple of their mid round picks. They really don't miss much. And their competence goes beyond scouting and is equally evident in knowing how best to use the tools they have, in developing an overall philosophy and in implementing the practical applications through play design and in game play calling. Mahomes would have none of that in Buffalo so it's safe to conclude that his stat sheet would reflect that. Nevertheless he would still be the same extraordinary talent. Accuracy, field vision and arm strength were all things that were abundantly evident in his college tape. Footwork and the historically bad performance of air raid QBs transitioning to the pros were the negatives. Allen also has mechanical issues to address but the only positive things where he compares well with PM for now is arm strength and mobility. Unfortunately the other things on the checklist, field vision, processing ability & consistent accuracy are by far the most important and the most difficult to develop. Mahomes showed that he could do those things early on. I don't disagree with you that if Allen can develop into a franchise guy the trade down will look a lot better than it does today. I give Allen a better chance of reaching all or most of his potential than some other posters. To me he is/was entirely legit as a high first round selection so that even if he busts I would say the pick was justified by the talent. His physical traits are elite, and he often enough displays excellent accuracy, albeit not consistently. His intangibles are off the charts. But one also has to acknowledge the risk. If Allen succeeds he will be very much the exception to the rule. Nevertheless I continue to believe that he may very well prove to be that rare outlier we all hope he is. To me the risk reward profile is a lot more favourable than it was with EJ for example.
  23. Yeah, I saw him try to arm tackle Marlon Mack at the line even though he had a clean shot. He wanted no part of # 25. Very bad.
  24. As was Edmunds. Really bad.
