Baseball is a far more grueling sport than football. Pitchers pitch every 5 days. NFL QBs play every 7 days. Pitchers usually throw about 100 pitches/game. QBs throw 30-40 passes. Pitchers are always "throwing hard," even the off-speed stuff is going 75-80 mph and the arm motion is the same. QBs usually throw the ball less than 10 yards in the air.

I am really worried about deGrom. The list of different injuries to his pitching arm is long. I think his mechanics are among the best in the league, but it just doesn't seem healthy for a guy with his build to consistently throw high 90s, low 100s, and his arm is suffering. I hope he can get AND stay healthy. I have a lot more confidence in Scherzer coming back and kicking ass for the remainder of the season.
