Analyst rates Tyrod ahead of Cousins
section122 replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't want to go digging but I do remember you saying that Hoyer was your option and drafting someone. You don't strike me as someone that would be happy with regression from the starting QB position. I think TT outperformed both highly drafted QBs from this last year. So can I get Majbobby to go on record saying his preferred course of action is KEEPING TT and drafting a qb? -

Flacco was better than TT. If you read the original post I stated that he is living off his reputation from the SB a few years ago. Flacco has been bad the last 2 years. Look to RG3 and Cousins for a perfect example of why there was no competition. You don't draft a guy in the first round to sit him for your 6th rounder and up until this year I wouldn't have said TT is better than Flacco. Maybe it is the knee injury, maybe it is something else but he sucks bad now. I gave you all the way to 21. Where would you rank your solution Brian Hoyer? Yeah Flacco beat TT that is exactly how the NFL works. Flacco's mighty 13 points -
Kyle Posey: Debunking the Tyrod Taylor Myth
section122 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah I supposed this is the Watson thread. I would perfectly okay with the picking up TT AND trying to get better at the position. It makes no logical sense to me to get worse at the position in the hopes of getting better. At 10 drafting a QB and picking up Tyrod would put the Bills at about the 20th most cap space in the league commited to QBs. Yes I absolutely would. Wentz had a few good games to start the year and then people stopped paying attention to him. Wentz threw for less Tds, had less total tds, a worse QB rating, a worse QBR, more ints. Here is a fun stat for you. After his first 3 games (so the final 13) he threw for 11 tds and 14 ints. People have got to stop trumpeting Wentz if they want to be taken seriously when discussing TT. The Eagles went 4-9 over that span so please people stop using Wentz. All it does is show you watched sportscenter in September. Brandon Tate is really the name you want to use. Doesn't that show just how sorry the receiving corps was though. I will give you credit though. Texas Roadhouse is amazing. Best ribs I have ever had! -
McDermott hire further diminishes Whaley
section122 replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is stupid and pointless to write a negative spin piece on a guy's first day on the job. It does nothing productive. Are you telling me that a piece couldn't have been written about who McDermott is and the style he will bring? All it does is incite people. It further drives a wedge between the team and the paper limiting access. It is a self serving article as all it does is show that getting clicks is more important that content. -
Analyst rates Tyrod ahead of Cousins

Just Googled Joe Flacco. That's it, I didn't add anything to it. Here is the 2nd result. He has to play, but there can be no more excuses. It's not as if his performance just dropped off this season. He wasn't very good in 2015, either. Flacco played in 10 games that year before he suffered a season-ending knee injury. He completed 266 of 413 passes for 2,791 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also had 12 interceptions and finished with a quarterback rating of 83.1. This season Flacco finished with 4,317 passing yards by completing 436 of 672 passes, but he also threw 15 interceptions and had mechanical and accuracy problems. Bisciotti thought Flacco's difficulties were related to the injury. When the offensive line got hit by injuries early in the season, Flacco got rid of the ball too quickly. They need to criticize Flacco for poor footwork and pocket awareness. They need to demand patience going through his progressions instead of throwing to his check-down guys so quickly. Agree with all of this. I would like to see a team built up around TT. Then I would like to see some competition for him. Some say you can't win with TT and KC is doing just that with a TT clone. I don't know if TT is the long term answer at this point I would lean no. He is however without a doubt the best option for the Bills. They can keep TT AND try to get better at the position it doesn't have to be one or the other. -

Analyst rates Tyrod ahead of Cousins

I did indeed forget Carr and Stafford (like I said I'm sure I missed at least 1). I left Flacco off because he was terrible this year. Flacco - 6.42 ypa, 22 total tds, 15 ints, 3 fumbles lost, 58.6 QBR, 83.5 QB Rating Tyrod - 6.93 ypa, 23 total tds, 6 ints, 2 fumbles lost, 67.4 QBR, 89.6 QB Rating I ranked Tyrod above Carson because he is a shell of himself. Going forward I would prefer Tyrod to Carson Palmer. It isn't too far off either: Carson - 7.09 ypa, 26 total tds, 14 ints, 4 fumbles lost, 60.4 QBR, 87.2 QB Rating Alex Smith is Tyrod Taylor. He is the best player comparison in the league to me. He takes care of the ball, is mobile, and can struggle passing the ball. He also proves you can win with a TT type of QB. Even assuming I give you those guys, that puts him at no worse than 21. However you using Flacco and Carson speaks to me point of many of the TT bashers don't watch other teams. Hell you would have to try hard to say that Cam had a better year than TT and be able to prove it with any appreciable stat. Eli struggled this year as well. Watch other teams and you will see a lot of the things that you and others crucify TT for from their QBs. Dammit it took me too long to get stats and post my reply! -

I am convinced that a lot of posters here that bemoan TT don't watch other qbs week in and week out. I made a list to see where I thought TT stacked up. I would like to ask anyone to challenge me on this: (in no order just gonna go stream of consiousness) Much Better: Brady Roethlisberger Rodgers Matt Ryan Drew Brees Andrew Luck Russell Wilson A little Better: Cam Dalton Winston Dak Cousins Eli Jameis Mariota Going with those names Tyrod is the 16th best QB, yes I left out Flacco who is living on a SB from a few years ago, the corpse of Carson Palmer, and others. I could even make an argument against Cousins and Dalton that wouldn't take too much work and Eli if you looked at his performance this year. For the TT haters please tell me who I missed (I'm sure it was at least one) but doing this exercise yourself might show you that he is better than you think when stacked up against the rest of the league. TT contract next year would make him the 17th highest paid qb next year which would be right in line with production. -

I got tricked into giving the guy a click. Can we take the link out of the op so he doesn't get any other freebies? -
Aww dammit. Part of the reason I liked this hire is there wasn't an obvious play on the name! Maroon Wrecks and now you've taken that from me! Seriously 4th quarter comebacks is such a stupid stat. If a QB plays great for 3 quarters and the team has a commanding lead no credit for a 4th quarter comeback If a defense scores a td and the team takes the lead the QB gets credit for a 4th quarter comeback If a team scores on the first play of the 4th quarter to take the lead, 4th quarter comeback. Here is some fun too (and a great example in making stats useless): Aaron Rodgers has 10 4th quarter comebacks. He averages about 1 per year. Same as Tyrod. Also averages about 1 every 15 starts same as Tyrod. Jay Cutler has 21 4th quarter comebacks. Clearly he is a clutch qb. Dave Krieg had 24 which is more than Jim Kelly (22). Tony Romo who many consider anti-clutch has 25. Colin Kaepernick, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Matt Cassel, Josh Freeman, and Jay Fiedler (as well as a bunch of other scrubs) have the same as Kurt Warner.

Blokes! Then he said Walter Football analyzes and scouts College players! Just messing with you but Kizer has been universally panned since declaring. It has been Trubisky and Watson as the top 2 qbs in the draft for a good bit now. The process begins now though. Regardless of what we have read or seen up to this point. Last year Goff and Wentz weren't the first 2 picks off the board. I think Trubisky is the first qb off the board with Watson not too far behind him (even though I prefer Watson). I won't be shocked if that is in the top 10. I'm torn about this draft. I don't know if I prefer picking up the option on TT and drafting Watson, skipping Watson altogether and building on the team, etc...

1. Defensive improvement namely at the safety position 2. Bring back Tyrod and have a healthy Watkins 3. Not allow a 200 yard rusher during the year 4. Have 11 men on the field for every play. 5. Find another receiving threat on offense (WR or 2nd TE to pair with Clay) 6. Stay Healthy

He was what he is a middling qb. He wasn't playing well at all. Before the 3 game skid that led to his benching he had 11 tds to 8 ints. He had 2 games completing less than 40% of his passes and this was before his last 3 games where he went for 1 td and 5 ints. He finished the year at 13 tds and 12 ints. If Tyrod proved this year to not be the answer then these numbers absolutely show Hoyer isn't the answer to any question. Tim Tebow led a team to the playoffs and won a game. That 10-6 is slightly misleading. He gets credit for the Bills game as a w where he went 2-4 before being knocked out of the game. Between the 2 years he went for 18 tds and 16 tds. I know by reading your last part that you aren't advocating that he is better than Tyrod so I'm not targeting you. I just don't want Hoyer anywhere near this team. I would turn into Ryan/Maj when it came to discussing Hoyer.
-
I would keep Tyrod for 2-3 years. Worst case is Watson and Tyrod don't develop further. Best case you trade one of them after they both show out. Again having 20 million of cap space allocated to the qb position isn't crazy money. According to this it would put the Bills about 13th in allocated money to the position.
-
I know Bloke came back to discuss this but it really doesn't get much worse than WalterFootball. Seriously. I would dig up info to make them look bad but I would have to give them page hits to do so. As to Watson I couldn't help but see Tyrod in him. A scenario that crossed my mind.... How about picking up the option on Tyrod AND drafting Watson. Let there be a competition. It would tie up about 20 million in salary cap to the QB position which wouldn't be outrageous and let the best man win. If Tyrod wins out then Watson sits and learns. If Watson wins out we have a backup with a similar style. Tyrod sticks around for 3 years and then Watson gets his extension. If Tyrod progresses then the Bills have a good problem.

Quick personal anecdote: I worked for a local ARC which works with developmentally disabled adults. "The R Word" was worse than the f word or any other curse. I still cringe when I see it expecting people to come out of the woodwork to shout someone down. I used to love Walter Football. Then I realized he has no idea what he is talking about. He is no better than a poster here. I cringe all the time when people parrot them. On top of it all he hates the Bills and every move they make.

HC candidate Kris Richard interviewing 1/8
section122 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not arguing against him as a HC I'm just saying there are warts present with him that could be making the Bills leary. I'm staying out of the discussion of who should be HC. BOB had me excited when their were rumors of him getting fired but that is about it. At this point I am in wait and see mode with whomever they hire. I just hope it is a good one -

I agree and was sad to see him go. I know he is an ass but he was a pretty good fb cooach. It is his dream job! -

Both the Redskins and the Browns situations were flash in the pans. The Skins were 3-6 before going on a tear and Hoyer completed 55% of his passes with 12 tds and 13 ints. Shanahan may end up being a great HC but there are certainly reasons to be weary of him. As to the DC I pulled something together last week that showed 6 of the top 10 offenses and the top 4 overall by DVOA offenses were led by a defensive minded HC. The Bills need to hire a good HC. Not a good OC/DC. -

Just last year every Atlanta fan wanted Shanahan fired, Browns fans weren't sad to see him go when he left, and was a disaster in Washington. Good for him for this year but 1 great year shouldn't erase all of the other red flags. He may be a great HC but he has had a lot of bad with his good. As for Bevell it is strange that he doesn't seem to get much play from any team really. With Carroll being a defensive guy Bevell should get all the credit for the Seattle O but it looks like another coaching season gone and I haven't heard his name linked to anything really. -
Schefter says decision is made - Tyrod is gone
section122 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was speaking to this earlier. I think that the Bills failure in developing a QB has led the fans to have no idea what they are looking at. They have no idea what a young qb finding his way looks like. They are unfamiliar with the ups and downs that go along with the position. Lastly they don't watch enough other football to see what it looks like with other teams. People want: Carson Wentz a guy who had less tds throwing, a lower ypa, more ints, less total tds, and a lower qb rating or a Blake Bortles - less TDS, lower ypa, worse comp %, more ints because they don't watch them every week and see the faults they see in Tyrod they watch HIGHLIGHTS! -

I border on the JfH level of optimism. This last week has been less than inspiring to say the least. The Lynn presser was bad, The NYJ game was brutal, the Whaley presser was a sh*t show regardless of who you think is to blame, and now news of cutting the best qb in 15 years. I'm not liking anything that has come from OBD recently. This has not been the best week for the Bills.... -

Denver is my predicted landing spot for him somewhere in that neighborhood. Even if it isn't Denver after watching Fitz get $12 million and Brock get $18 is it really a stretch to say Tyrod will get somewhere in that neighborhood? You are so right. I mean seriously look at Russel Wilson he has missed 0 games in his career due to injury! What you need is someone like Big Ben. He's huge and hasn't missed a game since week 7! I mean he has played in all 16 games 3 out of 13 seasons in the NFL compare that to Russell who has only done it 4 times in 4 years in the league! -

Yes I absolutely think Tyrod will sign for more than 2 years and more than 27.5 million guaranteed on the open market.
