  1. I know I know but I let the Rush lovefest go on for too long Much like the poster above I also feel to each their own. I have a rather eclectic musical taste and don't need to convince others that my music is "right" or better than others, and am glad you agree. I was nervous posting what I did because I know many are insanely defensive of their favorites. I hadn't heard any Rush since the 80s as I think it scarred me Much better singing imo! I always respected them musically as I find them very talented. I often get tricked into listening to Tom Sawyer during a solo if I turn it on then remember how much I despise Geddy's singing. On a side note I'm loving off the wall during the offseason. Good topics and people seem to be more fun/rational here. I'll still avoid the PPP as I don't think they are ready for liberal/socialist agenda
  2. Okay I swear this isn't a troll post.... I can't stand rush. Musically they are amazing - yyz is a great tune. Geddy lee however is nails on a chalkboard to me. I can't stand the high pitch singing and often used to confuse them with heart. I understand there is an extremely loyal fan base and they get rated high by many on the all time great list but not for me. I can't be the only one but I will be the one to break up this rush lovefest. (great place for the devil emoticon but they aren't available on my phone)
  3. sure but how many stars don't get that call when Durant was clearly fouled by LeBron at the end? The Heat definitely out played the Thunder for a majority of the game and deserved to win don't get me wrong but I was shocked they didn't give Durant the star treatment there (esp since he actually WAS fouled). On a non conspiracy note LeBron got away with one of the worst travels I have ever seen in the NBA in the first quarter taking by my count 4 full steps before passing the ball!
  4. wow that was an instant classic! You know why you work for tips? Cause no one will give you the whole thing! I almost got busted at work watching this because I was laughing so hard! :worthy: :worthy:
  5. Not trying to be rude but I'm not following your response. The first one says that it would take many people and would be impossible to pull off, then you turn around and say a small group of people could pull it off without it being a league wide conspiracy. Oh nevermind I think I just figured it out . So I guess my question becomes does it matter who is doing it if it is happening? If it isn't the league themselves but say the mafia or some other group? I think it would be worse if it was a league conspiracy but either option sucks. wow that is a statistical anomaly for sure. Another interesting read thanks for posting the link . I always wondered how refs were unbiased in their position. It would seem to me someone would get involved with reffing/umpiring because they had a love for the game but couldn't play it. A love of the game would lead me to believe that at some point in time they had a favorite team which would be hard to be unbiased towards. Imagine if any one of us became an NFL referee, wouldn't it be difficult to impossible to not favor the Bills if you worked the game? I met a girl in high school who's father was a major league umpire. On her birthday he got Jeter to meet with her and give her some autographs, pics, etc. Shortly thereafter he was involved in a controversial call which benefited the Yankees. The umps name was Ken Kaiser and when I heard his name on sportscenter all I could think about was his daughter telling me about how awesome Jeter was and how happy her dad was that he had made time for her. Here is the link for the game: http://articles.baltimoresun.com/1998-07-05/sports/1998186116_1_orioles-umpires-yankees
  6. No not every ref/umpire would need to be in it just a select few. A select few that are loyal to the brand and maybe even receiving extra payment. One ump or ref in a crew could very easily make the difference needed to swing a game. As for writing a book, they would be admitting to cheating as well as breaking the law. So not only would they be disgraced but they would end up in jail. Then the league would say there were rogue and the league had no knowledge of this happening (see Tim Donaghey sp?). I encourage you to read the original article that I linked. It is well written without being accusatory or too far out there and also just a plain old good read. I want to be clear though that I don't believe all games and leagues are fixed just that if they were this is how I would/could see it happening, and it wouldn't apply to all games just one's that mattered if it were indeed happening. I don't think the NFL cares about a Bills-Browns game but I could see them caring about a Pats-Bills game if playoff births were involved (ahem*just give it to them*ahem).
  7. I tried telling my friends the same thing. This year Wade has turned into a punk. Starting in the All Star game when he broke Kobe's nose, the Pacers series when he mugged the guy (and a foul a "regular" player surely would have been suspended for), to his pouting all throughout the Boston series (Rondo's quote was very true). I'll also add the making fun of Dirk incident from the finals. Wade lost me this year. I was always a fan but not anymore. He has zero class and has played poorly throughout these playoffs, only getting a pass because of people's hatred towards LeBron. The funny thing about this playoffs is I have pulled a 180 on LeBron too. Never cared for him and rode the not clutch bandwagon for a long time. Factor in the decision and his quitting on cleveland in the series against Boston and I was very anti-LeBron. This playoffs though he carried the Heat without much help. Bosh missed a long stretch and Wade has been terrible throughout. LeBron had amazing games in 6&7 of the Boston series and I thought he played well in Game 1. He didn't fade in the fourth quarter at all (no matter what sportscenter tells you) he just had no help. Best stat of game 1 to me wasn't the 41-40 durant/westbrook over the Heat, it was Wade 19 shots 19 points, Durant 20 shots 37 points. I understand the LeBron hate it just isn't warranted in these playoffs.
  8. One woman, who would only identify herself as Victoria, told us at her front door that she’s appalled by what happened. “We have children that live out here. We have a neighbor that has her three grandchildren out here all the time. Our young grandchildren are out here. This is a family neighborhood,” she said. “And the game of golf is supposed to be a gentleman’s game, and I can’t believe that anybody would allow something like this.” First they are freakin boobs! Who gets so offended by boobs?!?! Secondly kids aren't scarred for life by seeing boobs, if anything it's a good thing. Lastly, golf is a gentleman's game and most gentleman I know love boobs! I can't stand the puritanical view on sexuality. Victoria may be appaled but I applaud this! (except for the ages - that said free boobs are free boobs I won't discriminate!)
  9. My thinking is that all games aren't rigged but that there are desired outcomes by the league. Certain games at certain times imo are pushed towards an outcome. If it happens the league is happy if it doesn't they missed an opportunity. I think this would be easily achieved simply by having a few calls go one way or the other. I'm not saying that this is the case in either of the games you mentioned (as I agree with your point) just my feeling that this is how "fixing" is or could be done. I think the risk is to great to make anything happen every time exactly how the league would want it and much easier to conceal if outcomes are guided and the result is achieved routinely but not every time. I ref soccer currently and have reffed basketball in the past. It amazes me how momentum can be swung by one call as well as outcomes of entire games depending on timing and egregiousness of a call.
  10. It is so odd getting excited watching Pats* highlights. That said what an impressive showing. The play at 50 seconds in is the best to me. He gets chop blocked ends up on the turf gets up and still makes the sack. Very impressive highlight tape to say the least. Man I can't wait to see this line in action!!!
  11. I swear that if I had won that big powerball drawing (600 mill+) I was going to try and buy a stake in the Bills. I was also hoping if I didn't win it someone from this board would have for the same reason.
  12. where were all these hornballs when I was in school?!?!?!?!?!
  13. Ronn Lucas is a ventriloquist and clean enough to have a disney special in the 80s. I wore that vhs out watching it so much. I just found some youtube clips off it and it still made me laugh. Not sure how much is on netflix but his special was who's in charge here.
  14. http://deadspin.com/5918141/david-stern-asked-jim-rome-have-you-stopped-beating-your-wife-yet-as-todays-interview-turned-ugly rather interesting response by Stern. I'm sure he's sick of the question but I think the problem is that the idea exists and so many people accept it as fact. Much like promo mentioned and I alluded to earlier at this point in time if it was fixed people wouldn't be shocked. An interesting article I found on the opposite side of a conspiracy theory and the convenience of them: http://deadspin.com/5914370/no-matter-who-wins-the-nba-draft-lottery-is-fixed Math is hard and sometimes counterintuitive. There's a three-in-four chance the team with the worst record doesn't land the first pick, but it's still technically an upset when they don't. At Grantland, they've chosen five teams that, if they win the lottery tonight, would be evidence of a conspiracy. Those five teams' odds add up to better than 43 percent, so it would be almost as much of a surprise if one of those five teams didn't win.
  15. Yes he did however the sale is still not final. The purchase agreement was signed but the process is still under way. http://www.thepostgame.com/blog/hruby-tuesday/201205/conspiracy-theory-david-stern-michael-phelps-patrick-ewing-michael-jordan The conspiracy theory (not that I buy it) was that the #1 pick was part of the deal for Benson to buy the team. The draft lotto does have a rather fishy (or convenient or coincedental) history though. From Ewing to the knicks, to the Magic getting the #1 pick (traded it and ended with Hardaway), chicago winning when d rose (local kid) was in the draft, to last year when cleveland won the lotto (after losing LeBron who they won the rights to draft in another "coincidence", and this year. I don't get the idea for the lotto other than to prevent teams from tanking (which they still do anyway) Again not sure where I fall on this but the NFL and NBA sure do get some juicy stories at just the right time. With billions at stake I wouldn't be shocked if sports were rigged just very saddened.
  16. Just an interesting read here. Not too much that isn't already known and kind of a long read but an excellent article. Makes you think for sure.... http://www.thepostgame.com/blog/hruby-tuesday/201205/conspiracy-theory-david-stern-michael-phelps-patrick-ewing-michael-jordan So what is your favorite conspiracy or one that you think for sure happened? I'm a Lakers fan and that game 6 stunk to me at the time (not that I was upset by it ), also the draft lotto this year where the league owned team won the first pick was fishy. As for football I'll stick to the idea that there was more to the spygate story than was let on and that it was no coincedence the Patriots* won the super bowl after 9-11.
  17. At this point in time cuts don't need to be made with cash considerations in mind. The Bills are not in salary cap trouble. With 7+ million available I don't understand why people are playing the bean counter role. The Bills have the luxury of fielding the best team possible regardless of salary. The extensions (and the money they add) shouldn't matter much at this point. Nix has shown he will pay for performance so the players don't need to worry about that.
  18. Bob saget does this. He plays on the shock value of everyone associating him with full house and has some of the dirtiest material..... And it's not funny at all. As for standup that's dirty but hilarious Eddie Murphy's raw and delirious are 1 of the best stand ups I agave ever seen. Raw is better buth they both are good in their own right. Also Damon wayans stand up is hilarious too.
  19. Agree completely! Did anyone know who Victor Cruz was before the start of last year? All he did was become Eli's main weapon and make that offense go.
  20. uggghhhh the reason it upsets you is because its happening to the Bills. They worked their butts off and can't celebrate when they are succesful?! come on man swagger and attitude are huge in sports... It can cause intimadation as well as jacking up your teammates win/win. They are a football team not a freakin church choir group! Thank you! Last night I was playing cards and on a smoke break mentioned how I couldn't wait for football (the Bills fb page posted a pic from the stadium and it was literally the season tix I held for 5 years). I was with a niners fan, a giants fan, and a fellow Bills fan when I mentioned that the Bills could have one of if not THE best dlines in football. They obviously laughed and the niners fan said who is even on that line? I mentioned mario, kyle, marcel, and mark (had to school them a bit about his production last year) and their response? Wow that IS good! When is the last time that happened? Part of the fun about being a fan is talking junk to fans of other teams, and it's been a long time since we've been able to say anything. So screw you conservative fans shout it from the mountain tops! Look Out NFL Here Come The Buffalo Bills!!!
  21. That B*tch is crazy!!!! So of course I would
  22. dang guess we were both wrong It will be interesting to see what Bosh can do for the heat. He will finally give them an answer for garnett or he will screw up their chemistry. I think the heat have been playing excellent without him but am sure he will be a welcome addition back to the team. The "Heat" is really on for coach spo though. If he can't get it done this year (smart money says even if they beat Boston the okc/sa winner will beat them) I think he's a goner. Phil has been mentioned as wanting back in and Miami would be a natural landing spot for him (team on the cusp needing that final something extra) but I don't know if he could mesh with Riley. As an aside I am a Lakers fan and was disgusted with myself for rooting that hard for the Celtics last night. I guess my dislike of how the Heat went about being assembled makes me despise them more. (I can't believe I just typed that)
  23. I dont think it was Jamison playing d last night - I don't even think he is on the Celts. I'm pretty sure it was Petrus but what a pump fake from d wade. I agree that Boston could be up 3-1 but they could also just as easily be down 3-1. The whole reason I came to this thread though was for this: What happened to d wade? This playoffs (and some of last year) he really has turned into a punk. From making fun of Dirk, to the cheap shot/crying in the pacers series, to moping in this series. I have lost so much respect for him as a player. Meanwhile LeBron has earned a ton of respect. He is literally carrying this team ala his Cleveland days. As for the clutch gene convo I think he made 2 great clutch plays last night - the 3 in the last minute to tie and drawing the foul on kg to get a chance to win. I am enjoying both of these series and I wouldn't be so sure about okc gaining control of that series. It will be crazy if san antonio loses 3 in a row after running off 20 straight esp at home, this series has 7 games written all over it.
  24. If she's hot it's worth it.
