  1. I agree whole heartedly with this statement. I also add that this is why Arizona was a great landing spot for Floyd. If he were to go to a team where he was going to be the star (ala Blackmon in Jax) I don't think it would be as good of a situation. Having Fitzpatrick (see what I did there) as a teammate to guide and direct him can do nothing but help.
  2. Thanks I passed it to her as I liked it a lot. She gets final say though of course I was going to put /thread after I saw his post because it had me laughing so hard but I wanted to keep getting feedback
  3. That first link is some terrible "journalism." It might just be me but this doesn't seem like that bad of a statement. First Murray sucks... bad. There is a level with Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer and then everyone else. I was rooting for Murray because of the historical aspect but the way he struggled through his 2 previous matches I didn't think he had a shot. Secondly, I'm assuming none of you liked Andre Agassi much. He was the ultimate cocky tennis player to sampras' boring guy routine. When someone is the best in the world at something why is humility expected at all points in time. Federer is enjoying his accomplishments and there are many of them. Good for him for being able to enjoy them in the moment. Especially as his career winds down I am happy he is able to get the record for most weeks at #1 and am proud of him for working so hard for it. I think he should be able to be proud of it himself as well. They are all excellent but I like Nadal the least out of the 3... something about manpri's
  4. Was thinking about that some it will be easier with than others... On another note we are 2 pages deep and not one person requested a pic? Sheesh you guys are slippin! (that and poojer hasn't weighed in yet)
  5. I know it isn't their signature but elderly woman behind a counter in a small town is by far my favorite Pear Jam song. As for their signature to me it has to be Yellow Ledbetter (that riff!) Vedder muttering make me cry right before the solo is amazing. Guitar Solos and the feeling from them... man I love music
  6. It's a strange line betwenn not caring and making sure she doesn't pick something actually terrible. I am following somewhat along the lines of pushthepile's idea with a slght twist, while in the car we listen to them and decide what we like. My one rule though is no Michael Buble under any circumstance! I'm 30 and she will be 27 next week so we plan on waiting a bit (shooting for somewhere in 2014), but I am stressing this to her as well - now if I can just stop her sister/friends from popping these kids out and giving her baby fever! Flock of Seagulls will be nowhere near this wedding TBD will continue to be my escape as well. I tried explaining what this site was and she just called me a nerd Definitely want a classic for exactly the reason you stated. I'm glad there is hope that she will continue to be understanding after the vows. I won't have to wait long to see but just yesterday she was mentioning how she couldn't wait for football to see some of the girls. As for the kids like I stated earlier I'm okay with waiting I just have to catch the baby fever before it gets to bad. A friend of ours just had a baby and on the way to visit them I had to remind her that no matter how cute and adorable that baby is don't get any ideas. She agreed and said I had nothing to worry about.... until she held her in her arms and gave me that look
  7. wow I forgot all about that song! I think the varying definitions of signature song make this thread an interesting one. I have seen several songs listed that I disagree with, but then realize that is my perspective and not theirs. Here is some more 80s/90s power ballads that might not represent the bands style but that I think of when thinking about the band: Nelson - after the rain Skid Row - 18 and Life Meatloaf - Paradise by the Dashboard Light (why do women love this horrible song so much?!) Poison - Every Rose has its Thorns The formula of releasing a power ballad as the second single really helped launch quite a few bands regardless of how close to their actual musical stylings it was. (as an aside how awesome was hair metal?!) Some more for me: Van Halen (Roth) - Hot for Teacher Van Halen (Haggar) - Right Now Kansas - Carry on My Wayward Son Zeppelin - Stairway Lou Reed - Walk on the Wild Side Foghat - Slow Ride Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water Frampton - Do you feel like we do Heart - Crazy on you Rush - Tom Sawyer Manfred Mann - Blinded by the Light (extended version is so much better) Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the Name
  8. This is a running joke between us how awesome that you quoted it lol I was hoping you would weigh in as I knew you would have great insight! I'll run Cherry Pie by her and try to keep a straight face her response should be a good one
  9. Interested to know the outcome of this post. What did you go with? I'm going the personal route myself and am going to buy each of them something a little different. *Jack feel free to merge if necessary but if you could leave my thread title it would be appreciated as I'd appreciate some help with song ideas
  10. thanks for the link to the other forum discussion about it. 4 out of the 8 are Bills fans so I think I'm going to do a Bills gift for them unfortunately dhgate has no jerseys up that I could get customized. Anyone know any places similar to dhgate (read I don't care about authentic) that could help a brother out. As for the songs thanks... keep em coming! Noone wanted to touch the advice part huh?
  11. I'm getting married in less than a month and thought what better place to seek some advice than the friendly confines of tbd. So I've got a few questions answer what you please. 1. What is a good gift for my groomsmen? I've got 7 plus my father. From previous weddings that most of us have been in humidors and flasks are ruled out. (Damn partying through my 20s and all the easy ideas got taken) 2. What was your wedding song (or ideas for one). We don't exactly have an "our song." I like metal, hard rock, and classic rock while she prefers hip-hop, pop, and country. It prob won't come from any of these genres and are leaning to older songs. Since there are many *ahem* experienced posters on here I was hoping you may know some obscure songs or just classics that we have missed. 3. (This should be good but what the heck) some advice for the newlyweds. I'm marrying her in the start of August because it is the most boring sports season (she knows this and is okay with it). She enjoys football season mostly because she gets to hang out with the other wives/girlfriends while we watch the game, and she is well aware that Sundays are off limits for anything. I've gotten her to become an UFC fan but still working on the other sports. She really is amazing, not bitchy/bossy at all (man I hope that doesn't change ) and someone who puts a smile on my face many times throughout the day. So any and all help (especially with question 1 and 2) would be much appreciated. Thanks tbd!
  12. Yeah I gotta agree pantera has to be walk. People may not know the bad or who sings it but most people (that listen to metal) are familiar with the riff.
  13. What a crock this is. A 34 year old man is acting like a b*tch. This story is so ridiculous added on to the fact that the article is trying to make it sound legitimate. Wow some people........………
  14. ugh she's rich so if she paid me but she's 30 single and about to have her second kid? I guess i've done worse
  15. No link to the video in the article?! Or is just bc I am on a mobile?
  16. Murray and ferrer are playing an amazing match right now. Both sets went to tie breaks and it's 1-1. I'm rooting for Murray to at least make the finals and depending on who he would play maybe to win the whole thing.
  17. I wonder if we'll ever find out her idenTITy was my favorite comment
  18. Best post in this thread. and funniest post in this thread... got a chuckle from me. Well done 2 for 2! Pride is an interesting thing. It is necessary to accomplish equality for those that have not been given it. However too much of it and a backlash is caused. It is 1 of the 7 deadly sins and it is easy to see why. For those claiming that this isn't or shouldn't be an issue, I agree it shouldn't, but it is. Racism still exists and homophobia is even stronger. Witness the vote in NC a few months ago. I am proud of homosexual people that are proud of who they are and aren't scared to live their lives how they see fit. Should it be a news story? No, I don't think so, but this is the age where celebs can't move or breathe without tmz telling the owrld and this is just part of it. Lastly, his feelings that people thought he was ashamed of being gay is what prompted this. It wasn't him wanting to cause a stir it was him wanting to set the record straight (no pun intended ) and again, I can respect that.
  19. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few but the highlights that stand out to me are: Crowd surfed my way to the front of Woodstock 99 and was in the first few rows for rage against the machine. Got Jim Kelly club seats randomly sold to me for 10 bucks apiece. Unfortunately it was the 6-3 browns game a few years back. My sisters company gives her court side tickets to Su basketball every year and she used to bring me. Front row pantages theater for phantom of the opera when I was a kid. Awesome awesome show.
  20. everytime I see this thread I think of this.... one of my favorite movies of all time and one that still makes me laugh! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Nro-xZ7GgA
  21. Voyeurism at its best (worst?). I dont know a single female that doesn't love this show if they have seen it.... Unfortunately including my fiancée.
  22. Watching with my nephews who are 6 and 3 and just got to America from Italy Friday. I wonder if I can hold my breath for 90 minutes lol.
  23. Couldn't agree more. My father took swimming lessons in his fifties! He wanted to be able to swim with his grand kids and had to admit that he never had learned... Wasn't easy but loves the time he gets with his grand kids!
  24. Yes he did go 11-5 one year in Cleveland. The other 4 he went a combined 25-39 and he finished in 5 years with a winnin percentage of .450 hardly what I would call good. I think beliechick is a great coach so I don't know where you came up with the idea I don't. (I even stated it in the post you referenced) As for the 11-5 without Brady and with cassell people often forget that was a team that had gone 18-1 the previous year. So he did have success but not nearly the level he had with Brady. Still a great coach but I think his sb appearances and wins say more about it than the 11-5 season do.
  25. That's why I originally bumped this thread... I want to bet this bad!
