Earl Thomas is trending, let’s click on that
Malazan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Classic attempt to misdirect. The guy's a major douchebag, but regardless of what he sticks it in and who else is there...you don't get to wave a gun at him (loaded or not) and chase him with a knife. -
Dan Fouts is out at CBS; replaced by Charles Davis

I've heard him. Git r' done, Beane -
If Gore wants to play, I'm glad he has a place to do so.

Auditor: Favre received welfare money for no-show speeches
Malazan replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea, no..having been involved in local and state government...the corruption is..astounding. This very article says it was almost 100 million and only the dumbest idiots who are way too egregious get caught. Even then, only a small handful actually get caught or face consequences. -
What is the one spot on the roster that still has a hole?

You may be able to find your answers in the thread asking the same exact question: -
Bears decline 5th year option on Trubisky
Malazan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, he'll either win the QB competition and seize the job in which case they'll be fine with a new contract (the 5th year pays a fair bit anyway) or he won't and they can move on.. I suspect the latter outcome is more likely. -
Dalton to the Cowboys 1yr $7M per Schefter

I like the move for the Cowboys. You can't pay Dak 40 million unless he really ups his game...like surpasses Mahomes.. -
E:60 Project 11 about Alex Smith - Must See TV

I really wanted the Bills to sign him when he shook loose from KC. I think he was an underrated QB. -
Drafting Fromm and Bass shows foresight
Malazan replied to racketmaster's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sure, but the team has rarely been a position to solve problems before they become gaping holes. Beane has shown a dogged determination to give himself options so he's not locked into moves he really doesn't want to make. It was inconceivable that we'd be discussing possibly filling the backup QB role before it became a gaping hole a few seasons ago. -
So everyone in a family should be punished for 1 family member's actions? What the hell is wrong with you?

NFL Unveils League Office Pay Cuts, Furloughs
Malazan replied to Lurker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sorry you thought it was 'trashing you' to point out that: 1) They didn't cut the salary of the people making less than 100k 2) The people who can't do their jobs at home are getting furloughed 3) That there's likely a large overlap between the two groups Hope this helps. -
NFL Unveils League Office Pay Cuts, Furloughs
Malazan replied to Lurker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, furloughing them is truly the kindest thing that could be done for them..What do you think the people who can't do their job from home are likely making? Look, I won't give them crap for furloughing workers, but nobody should be lining up to sing their praises either. Matching donations is pure BS. They'll write it off in taxes so it's you and me who end footing the bill for their "donations". -
PHI Eagles projected to be $40+M over the cap in 2021
Malazan replied to Mango's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One of the things I like about Beane (or at least whomever is negotiating contracts for him) is that most of the deals you can get out of them after 2 years. He seems to know they're going to have dump some guys and seems to have given himself enough flexibility over the next 2-3 years to move on from who wishes to move on from without suffering massive cap implications to do so. -

Beane/McDermott - finding value & talent to match needs?
Malazan replied to FlaFitz1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is only sort of true...Whaley did all of the work for that draft. It's extremely likely he didn't make the picks, but the Bills board, the scouting work, everything except for picking the name off the board at the time of the selection was based on Whaley's work. -
Love that they doubled down on WR in this draft
Malazan replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think they have a good chance, but ultimately it doesn't matter. They were drafted to avoid what is happening with the raiders or the jets this season. They're counting on rookies to come in and be #1. It's pretty rare that succeeds. It's already 50/50 and even less to get success the 1st season. Given that either Josh pans out and needs a contract or he doesn't and a new QB is going to need solid weapons...drafting receivers in a deep draft (with the bonus of expanded rosters possibly making getting them on the roster easier) is a savvy move. -
Love that they doubled down on WR in this draft
Malazan replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Neither rookie may make it onto the roster this year. Why does that "pump the brakes"? There's an old adage that it takes 3 years for a WR to develop. Beane's moves tend to have a defining characteristic of making sure he isn't locked into doing something he doesn't want to do. In 2-3 years those 'top 3' are likely to be moving on and/or due big pay raises. Drafting WRs before that means he won't be forced to hand out a contract he doesn't want to.. -
There's two lines of thought on this...and the prevailing one is that he cost draft pick, but he wasn't a draft pick. They're grading the draft picks, not the value that trading draft picks returned (think how crazy that would get with 2nd/3rd/4th/5th/6th/7th round picks). The grases sound about right. I think the Jets draft is a little overblown because they have such glaring holes in places. Bills have the opposite problem...not a lot of holes. Looking at a lot of their picks it's easy to see the draft picks having trouble making the roster in many places which is why you see them doing things like drafting a kicker and backup QB Mims for example is going to be a day 1 starter for the Jets regardless of how he does in camp(I mean, barring a complete Jachai Polite level implosion). Epenesa is going to make the roster for the Bills, but he's likely to be deep in the rotation even if he performs well. He's going to have to really impress to get any significant playing time.
