  1. Will we want to resign them? How much will it cost? If they both walk and Sammy has a great year will we all be pulling out our hair?
  2. OP I understand where you are coming from and I agree with you to some extent. I think as a new coach when youre implementing a whole new culture into an organization its important to draft players that fit what youre trying to accomplish. You need to have a solid foundation and core. However, I do not think that choosing character over talent in every situation over the long haul is a recipe for success. Hopefully McDermott understands this because Dick Jauron/Marv Levy didnt.
  3. To folks complaining about the highlight video making him look terrible, watch this one: Dude looks like a complete beast of a tackler and he seems very quick.
  4. My theory: Whaley wanted to promote Anthony Lynn to HC. Pegula's became enamoured with McDermott who expressed interest in job but demanded he be able to pick his GM or control roster. Pegula's agreed to McDermotts demands, which they were forced to do because other NFL teams were willing to give it to him. Whaley becomes odd man out but is still under contract. McDermott and Whaley agree to proposal by pegulas to work together for the upcoming draft and free agency, after which McDermott will be bring over Brandon Beane and in doing so Whaley is assured of a release from his contract. Also side note: If all of this is true Brandon Beane was likely a mole inside the panthers draft room for the bills, because we conveniently traded ahead of them to secure players they may have also been targeting <---- Roger Goodell league investigation perhaps?
  5. Define "efficient" please? Yards per carry? Yards after contact? Mike is a simple 1 cut runner and hes going to play the L Blount role for New England. AKA rack up short yardage touchdowns and gain tons of yards on teams they blow out.
  6. 13 pages of thread for Mike Gillislee....jesus Solid player who made himself an NFL career. A good backup and a guy any NFL team would like to have on their depth chart. We literally picked him up off the scrap heap and the $ New England gave him is a lot for an RB2. A 5th round pick will make way less money and offer way more potential to the organization than Mike. Plus, the Lombardi trophy should just be given to the Pats for the 17-18 season. Theyre winning the superbowl with or without gillislee and buffalo ain't going to be stopping it. Easy decision to make. Calm down everyone.
  7. Our new D-line coach had him during training camp for the Rams on hard knocks last year. He had a couple sacks in preseason. From what I remember he had a couple of nice moves, but the rest of his game was lacking and he was cut also didnt help the rams D line had a lot of depth
  8. I know he didnt score on it but this play stands out. Fred Jackson almost scores vs Patrots Week 1 2011. We've absolutely been destroyed by the patriots this entire century, but not that day. Fred Jackson wouldnt allow it. One of the best indiviual performances in Bills history IMO
  9. Pats already the best team in the NFL and now are clearly trying to go 19-0
  10. Elite QBs dont grow on trees and tanking to secure a top pick in the draft on the hopes of finding one isnt a recipe for success either. Just look at how many years the Jamarcus Russells, Joey Harringtons, Jay Cutlers etc set their respective franchise's backwards. Keep Tyrod and build a succesful organization. Look for the diamond in the rough and have a good team in place to support him when you find him
  11. I blame Fred Durst for the flat brim hat trend. It started when I was in middle school.
  12. So were at page 4 and none of the discussion revolves around the original premise of the thread.
  13. New Bills coach Sean McDermott spoke on the phone with Tyrod Taylor Thursday and met with the quarterback for a few minutes before his introductory press conference Friday at One Bills Drive. "Fine young man," McDermott said. "I remember going against Tyrod a little bit in the preseason, I’ve watched him in crossover tape, so I know the skill set, I know what he brings to the table." https://buffalonews.com/2017/01/13/sean-mcdermott-cool-tyrod-taylors-future-bills/ Let me preface by saying I am a 100% Tyrod supporter. However, I find it interesting that Tyrod was actually at the building on the day of McDermotts press conference. According to McDermott they spoke over the phone first and then they actually meet eachother right before he goes out and talks to the media. Now call me crazy, but why would a coach who isn't a supporter of Tyrod go out of his way to talk to the man ? I find it hard to believe that Tyrod being in the building was just a coincidence, so McDermott must have asked him to come. I think its telling that McDermott, a guy who talked at his press conference about building a strong relationship with his players, went out of his way to talk to Tyrod. It was the first thing he did after he was given the job. If were moving on from Tyrod, why would he do this? I'll tell you why. Because Tyrod is a veteran leader on the team who commands the respect from all our other players and McDermott is no fool. We burned Tyrod bad at the end of the season and have done nothing to give him assurances he is in our plans. I think McDermott changed that today. https://buffalonews.com/2017/01/13/sean-mcdermott-cool-tyrod-taylors-future-bills/
  14. I want to punch a wall reading this. If the Bills sever ties with Tyrod it will be the dumbest thing our team had done since screwing over Doug Flutie. We're on a 17 year drought. Tyrods contract is reasonable relative to others at his postion, even with the new guarantees. He has played competent QB for us and shown he can score points. If Whaley let's Tyrod walk he might as well sign his own pink slip, becauee you are not going to find anyone better to start next year. Ive been a fan of the Bills my whole life, but if they cut bait with Tyrod and trot out Cardale or a rookie as our starting QB I Will not be watching . This team cannot be any dumber. Why oh why do we do what we do.
  15. Lets be honest. Most, if not all fans, were 100% behind the Rex hire. He took the Jets to two AFC championship games and was the only coach who actually gave Belichick and the pats a run for their money within the division. Terry and Kim Pegula are rookie owners who have no experience and probably approached the Ryan hiring much like any fan would have. They listened to the fan excitement and Russ Brandon more than they listened to their GM and that is a huge mistake as an owner (Side note: Im not saying that Whaley wasn't ok with the signing either) However, credit must be given to Terry for realizing this error and correcting it by firing Rex. He had to swallow millions of dollars and personal pride to make the right decision for the franchise. Now he is giving full authority to Whaley to find the next head coach, hopefully this is a sign that the ship is finally going to head in the right direction.
  16. When you get brought back for a second interview it usually means you have the job. That was the case with Rex. Whaley may have been ok with the Rex hire because it had already passed the point of no return. This video is proof that pegula wanted Rex and just wanted Whaley to OK it, which he did. That does NOT mean Rex was whaleys preferred choice if he conducted the whole process
  17. The video is proof that Whaley, if involved in Rex's hire at all, only gave the thumbs up. But it does not mean Rex was Whaleys preferred choice. It sounds like Rex was a Pegula/Brandon decision. Whaley has basically had his hands tied as GM and has never had 100% authority to run the football operation. If anything good has come from Rex's failure, it's that he now does have 100% control and he will either live or die with the next coach HE hires.
  18. The video is from when they announced Rex's hiring. It basically contrdicts a lot of the finger blaming the media is directing towards Whaley. Perhaps he IS telling the truth and he has no say in Rex's firing. My guess is that the vision for the team was controlled by Rex, who reported to Pegula directly. Whaley was tasked with finding players Rex liked and that's it.It's no secret Rex and Whaley had a strained relationship. Sounds like Whaley didn't agree with all of Rex's decisions, but he went with it because Terry had given Rex a lot of pull within the organization. Hopefully now Whaley gets to run the show entirely and we can finally see what he can do
  19. https://mobile.twitter.com/NICK_WKBW/status/813897172500496390/video/1 Looks like terry made up his mind to hire Rex after interview #1 and never really took in whaleys input. With reports that Whaley and Rex never got along it's no wonder this team never made the playoffs. Looks like Terry has realized the error he made and is now giving Whaley an opportunity to finally 100% run the show himself
  20. No. They are different. But benching Flutie gutted that locker room and destroyed the franchise. Cutting him was even worse. Letting Tyrod walk and not picking up the option is on equal level in my eyes
  21. I've been a fan of the Bills my whole life (29 years). Benching Doug Flutie for Rob Johnson vs the Titans was the biggest gut punch I've ever had as a fan. It made no sense at the time and it sent this franchise into its current 17 year death spiral. Then comes Tyrod. Literally the best QB we've had since Flutie took the field, and we are doing him the same way. Write it down: letting Tyrod go will be the biggest mistake this franchise could make. I feel so strongly about this that I will honestly question my fandom of this team. And I am not joking
  22. I hope the fix is in, Lynn is already the best choice. Why? Continuity and hes already shown he can coach up a good offense utilizing the pieces he is given. He sounds like a very calcutated, confident and detail oriented coach when you listen to him talk in his interviews. This team does not need to be blown up. It needs a defensive coordinator.
  23. He wants to keep the offense intact (for all the above mentioned reasons) and blow up the defense (in another thread discussion). The defense is the real culprit for our failures
