Favre wasn't good anymore after he left GB. His arm was shot. He got TDs by throwing up ducks and hoping his receivers outfought the defenders.

The nfl.com website has a "players" tab with a list of popular active players for fans to read about. Here it is: Patrick Mahomes Tom Brady Ezekiel Elliott Saquon Barkley Aaron Rodgers Drew Brees Todd Gurley Khalil Mack Ben Roethlisberger Aaron Donald Kyler Murray Not only is Josh Allen not on the list, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and Ben Roethlisberger are!

I think Rodgers has more left in the tank than Favre did when the Jets picked him up. The Jets receive Rodgers, the Packers' 2023 first-round pick (No. 15 overall) and a fifth-round pick (No. 170) in exchange for New York's 2023 first-rounder (No. 13), 2023 second-round (No. 42) and sixth-round (No. 207) picks, as well as a conditional 2024 second-round selection that could become a first if Rodgers plays in at least 65 percent of the Jets' snaps this year.

They’re BAAaaacK! Players back in Orchard Park for workouts
Utah John replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm glad you got a taste of nice weather. From the looks of the photos of the Bills coming into the facility for the offseason program, it was long pants and long sleeves weather. There were some shorts but there were also some pretty warm looking sweaters. Anyway, it's normal for the weather to be variable in the spring, but overall it's pretty depressing in April there. (Like many others I no longer live in Buffalo, but I still consider it home.) -

April in Buffalo is the worst. Everywhere else it's warming up, trees are in bloom, birds are singing. I very well remember Aprils in Buffalo -- 42 degrees and clouds and rain. And this is when players come back for their first offseason activities. Too bad the CBA doesn't allow this part of the offseason schedule to be done in May, when Buffalo turns beautiful. -
Not taking anything away from Mahomes, but he did get really lucky with respect to his surroundings. First, he got to redshirt his rookie year, learning on the job while watching Alex Smith run the offense. No too-early pressure on Mahomes, and plenty of time for him to figure out what's what in the pros. Second, he got Andy Reid as his HC, a brilliant offensive mind who consistently outthinks opponent coaches and who keeps coming up with creative ways for Mahomes to use his talents. Third and fourth, Kelce and Hill. Fifth, a front office that keeps finding ways to keep the roster intact even as players come and go. When a weakness appears in a given season, that area becomes a strength the next. Again, this is nothing against Mahomes, but it's worth considering whether he'd have done as well in Buffalo or anywhere else.

yeah,,,,,,,no.

I would usually take the most money, but I would also want to look at the working conditions, and the nature of what my duties would be in a new job. Players always yammer away about wanting to win. This move means the only way OBJ ever gets a ring is to use some of his millions to buy one from a hard-up retired veteran from an actual champion.
-
How do the Ravens pay OBJ $18M and also pay Lamar Jackson? Ain't gonna happen. This is a clear message that Jackson is going to another team this coming season, and that the Ravens are going to start the search for their next franchise QB. To me, this is all nuts. I realize the NFL-agents-media complex wanted to punish Jackson for not employing an agent, but the Ravens are tossing away the services of their best player, one of the best in the NFL. And for what? An aging, injury-prone formerly excellent WR, who's getting close to retirement. By the time the Ravens find their new QB, OBJ will be long gone, along with the Ravens' chances to unseat the Bengals in their division.

New stadium cost goes up from $1.4 billion to $1.54 billion.
Utah John replied to cba fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
They get the money but it's not coming from their pockets, it's coming from the fans, the public. Sure, fans don't have to buy tickets if they don't want to. But they do want to. When the Raiders moved back to Oakland, they charge a hefty PSL for the right to buy season tickets at Oakland Raiders games. Those PSLs aren't worth anythng anymore. -
Jeffrey Simmons extended with Titans - 4 years, $94 Million
Utah John replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
And we traded away the pick that became Patrick Mahomes. No sense in looking backward at the draft. Everyone does their best, and sometimes it works out better than others. -

I still can't believe the Pegulas get credit in this deal for the money collected from PSLs. That's money from the fans, from the public, not from their own pockets. And they even get to count the money that it costs to sell and administer the PSLs. They ARE responsible for cost overruns, which could turn out to be a lot of money, so they're not getting off scott-free. I just think the PSLs should be regarded as another category of funding for the stadium, so we could see more clearly who's paying what. A lot of what's being counted as money from the Pegulas is actually money paid by the fans, for PSLs. It's crazy. -
Brandon Beane Set To Double Down on 2022’s Big Disappointments
Utah John replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
Brown (and Morse and Dawkins) will look a lot better when playing next to starting-caliber NFL guards. -
FA Cameron Fleming RT Why don't we go get him?
Utah John replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall
Would signing him affect the third round pick Beane wants to get for the loss of Edmunds? -
Conlan was a great mid-field thumper, but his 40 time was measured with a sundial. Watching him chase someone was just pathetic. MLBs like him were great in their day but not now.
-
And early on, the Bills had Peters covering kickoffs. He would just run into the wedge and send players flying. Eventually they discovered he was pretty good at tackle. As I recall it was his agent who really pulled him away from Buffalo, for reasons that never made sense. The Bills are paying Dawkins tackle money which >> guard money. Not to say they won't do that if the tackle would be getting rookie money.

I sure hope not.

How long before a defense coordinator is signed?
Utah John replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall
If you really think Frazier is coming back, then this is a problem. I think he got tired of being passed over for HC jobs and was just heartsick. But he's at an age where retirement feels really good, and where HC job offers aren't flooding his inbox. A good DC who wants to grab the job and keep it could keep Frazier retired. -
The Texans trade with Miami to get Tunsil was the beginning of the Texans' collapse. They gave up waaaay too much. The Dolphins used the picks and drafted well, making them the clear threat to the Bills for the AFCE. But the Texans just lost their way. Remember it was the Texans that beat the Bills in the playoffs just a few years ago. Since then they've shed Watson and Hopkins for nuthin'.

Lamar Jackson as TV analyst? It’s logical.
Utah John replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall
Jackson is a great player, and it would be a big loss to all of us fans if he decamped to the broadcast booth. He's one of the most talented offensive players in the NFL. He's a very good passer and a great runner. Do you really think he's going to toss away the chance to keep playing a game he loves? -
Are the Pats going to try him out at QB?
-
I suspect the reason Frazier left (yeah, he's coming back next year, sure, hahaha) is that he knew Edmunds was leaving. Frazier put together a very good regular season D, and Edmunds was a big part of it. Replacing Edmunds with a normal-sized, normal-speed LB is probably not happening, and Frazier didn't want to have to re-do his entire D with someone less athletic.

Darren Waller Traded Due Wedding Details Leaked
Utah John replied to aristocrat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Considering the diva-ness of today's NFL players, it's not surprising that Waller would want to be traded. Probably Josh's announcement put a crimp in Waller's dating. What's surprising is that the Raiders didn't try to get more value. I can see the Bills giving up a third for him -- he's a true weapon and could be used alongside Knox, Diggs, and whoever WR2 turns out to be. -
Predictable move. Good move. This is what normally happens when a very good team wants to keep as many of its parts together as possible.
