  1. Maybe this is a canny plot to throw Josh off his game. He's going to be looking at ways to burn Apple so much that he'll miss other opportunities. Well, why wouldn't Miami try that? Nothing else has worked.
  2. According to the internet, she's an actress who dated Rodgers for a few years. She's now with John Mulaney, a very good comedian, and they had a child together.
  3. Does anyone know if any of the players from that game are still alive? They'd have to be in the mid-90s or even older. It would be interesting to interview the survivors if they're around.
  4. Yep, that's the key. The Bengals' O line going into the playoff game was supposed to be THEIR Achilles heel, so our D line could dominate and keep Burrow from having time to pass. As usual, that didn't pan out. Burrow could have had a coffee and donut and then passed the ball on many plays. Yeah, he made the Pro Bowl last year. And somehow he's available. What a disastrous decision by the Bills not to bring him back. /s of course.
  5. Thanks for the thoughtful response. I agree, we're going to have to wait and see how events unfold, and even then the results won't likely be definitive. Injuries, mistakes, and the usual great plays by someone on the opposing offense, will all affect how successful the Bills D is this year.
  6. This is the pattern with the Cowboys. They pay good players as if they were great players, and then are shocked when the rest of the league says they're just good, no more than that. Unlike S. Diggs, T. Diggs has holes in his game. As a fan of whoever is playing the Cowboys next week, I'm fine with this move, but it's going to backfire as badly as did paying Ezekiel Elliot all that money.
  7. Edmunds was the glue that Frazier's defense depended on. His size and speed took away a huge area of the defense, and that made the style of D the Bills played work. But what Edmunds is NOT is an attacking, vicious, hitting, intuitive, tough defender. I don't think it was a coincidence that Edmunds and Frazier left at the same time. Frazier's system was not going to work without Edmunds. Very possibly, considering the return of White to full health, and Hyde, the Bills D could turn out to be better than ever with McD and a new guy as MLB. If that new guy is an attacking, vicious, hitting, intuitive and tough defender.
  8. There's no big news here. He's turned into a really good player, and the Steelers resigned him to a fair contract.
  9. The Bills' WR room is stuffed already. Unless the guy's last name is Hopkins, we already have several guys better than anyone available.
  10. A lot depends on whether you're Mormon. We lived in Salt Lake City for 10 years and mostly enjoyed it, but SLC is an enclave of the United States inside the Kingdom of Zion. Being a gentile (that's the word they use for non-Mormons) anywhere else in Utah, except for Park City and Moab, will make your life tough. If you're Mormon and going into business in St George, you have a good shot at success. If you're a gentile, forget it. The deck will be completely stacked against you. And, bring your own water. St George has been growing rapidly but lacks a reliable source of water. There is a serious attempt in the Utah legislature to develop a pipeline from Lake Powell to St George. That's Lake Powell on the Colorado River, which you might have heard is going dry (not this year, fortunately) due to too many demands on its water. This insane pipeline idea might actually be approved because of the clout of the Mormons in Congress. Utah is very beautiful, as others have noted. St George is fairly close to Zion and Bryce Canyon, and a few hours away from Capitol Reef. If you like outdoor activities, it's great, not necessarily in the ferocious heat of the summers in southern Utah but otherwise it's fine outside.
  11. First of all, any player's playoff record is a secondary factor. Too much else impacts those results. All the Bills from the great 90s teams got in despite losing 4 SBs, as did Tasker. Yet they all deserve to be there. So does Ken Anderson, clearly. Otis Taylor does too but he must have been caught up in the WR mess, where almost no WRs got in for years while RB after RB did. And now he's dead, before he had the chance to put on the yellow jacket.
  12. The Bills do have a safety who's played for them in the past few years but who always seemed to be a little too slow and often out of position. His name is Damar Hamlin. But could the Bills really cut Saint Damar?
  13. Milano made first team All-Pro last season. And he's not one of the 100 best? Come on.
  14. I've had ST for years, and I would set up my DirectTV DVR to record the three or four games I was most interested in. Then I'd watch the Bills live but move through the others during the week, skipping the commercials and the chatter. It's one of the things I liked best about ST. I don't know how this will work with YouTube. I won't have a DVR. Does anyone know if YT lets you record shows and save them somewhere (in the cloud?) and watch them later?
  15. This year should be another great year for the Bills. They've upgraded in the areas of obvious deficiencies, several key players are back from injury, and the FA losses are not that important or hard to recover from. But, it's going to get bumpy soon, or at least it might do so, in 2024 and 2025. Key players are going to be getting old (Hyde, Poyer, Diggs, and Miller) and it's going to be hard to bring in good replacements until they're gone and off the books. Beane is going to have to up his game with drafting, to find replacements that can step in quickly. If that doesn't happen, a lot of wheels are going to come off at the same time. The question is whether the Bills can rebound from the valley that awaits, or slide back down into long-term mediocrity. It will be important that McBeane not feel tempted to splurge on short-term fixes that will eat up salary cap space in the future. They did this with Miller, and the jury is still out whether that turns out to be a good move in the long run. McBeane generally have NOT done this, partly because they feel safe in their jobs and know they'll be evaluated by the long-term success of the team.
  16. The Bills designed their D around Edmunds, with his great length and height and speed. He just took up a lot of space and forced the opposing O to limit what they could do. At the same time, Edmunds clearly never had the anticipation and brutality that great MLBs have. Without him, the Bills will redesign their D, hopefully making it more aggressive. I think the D line will be a lot better this year, and if Tre White is really back, the defensive backfield will also be good. Milano will be his usual great self. So all we really need is an aggressive, high motor MLB.
  17. Wake me up when anything Cowherd or any other sports pundit says, affects the Bills' play on the field.
  18. So they used to let you make stuff but not anymore?
  19. We see you.
  20. But what's the effect on other players? Not good.
  21. I just watched the GMFB discussion of whether the Bills are better or worse than last year. The conclusion was they're probably about the same, but they need to heal from within after the crushing emotional blows they had last year. So Diggs skips out. One of the team's leaders, and probably the most vocal leader. This is terrible. McD is right to be concerned. What are the other players supposed to think? That the Bills can just show up and go 12-7 or better and sweep to another AFCE championship? I sure hope that's not the thought. There's never a time for complacency.
  22. Our Barkley is a lot cheaper. We couldn't afford theirs.
  23. The comments are based in reality, that the Bills suffered an incredibly difficult season of woes and still finished 13-3. Presumably lightning won't strike twice, and they'll get through this season with fewer injuries/snowstorns/tragedies. Not mentioned was the departure of Leslie Frazier. Many people like to criticize Frazier for the Bills' D dropping off in the playoffs, but the truth is that the Bills have enjoyed an outstanding string of defensive seasons under Frazier as DC, at least in the regular season. I think McD and Frazier were on the same page, but that's not the same thing as saying McD can fulfill the DC duties as well as HC. It's not a matter of putting great players on the field and telling them to go play. There are detailed and sophisticated schemes involved in setting up attacks that the opposing O isn't ready for. Someone was coming up with those schemes for the Bills, and I think that someone was Frazier. If McD is too busy to do that this year, or just doesn't have Frazier's creative abilities, the D could suffer. The point is, it's not clear at all whether the D will sustain its level of excellence.
  24. Put the football field on the infield of the racetrack during a race, and there'll be new meaning to running to the restroom.
  25. Compared to today's announcers, the MNF crew (for this special Thursday night game) was pretty useless. Gifford did OK calling the plays, but Tarkenton and Cosell added nothing to the understanding of the game. I think they were all unprepared, probably coming off a Monday night game before this one. How many times did they mention Joe Cribbs not being there due to a holdout, or Shane Nelson being gone due to a knee injury? This was worse than listening to the Manning brothers kibbitz during a game these days. I had forgotten how much bigger Rich Stadium was in those days. And it was nearly sold out, pretty good for a weeknight game with school/work the next day.
