  1. I 2nd this. We really could use a stud lb that can cover and tackle. With the protection a good line would give him that would be huge step into being able to be near top 10 defensively.
  2. He only says this because Bills teams have probowlers at almost every postion most years.
  3. His main issue since being drafted has been a lack of strength. He has been injured most offseasons and hasn't really been able to work on it with trainers because of this. Last off season was the first one where he really could have worked with coaches on strength and condition but was lost due to lockout. This one could be his first real chance since came into league (if signs before draft) to actually work on fixing this with a teams strength and conditioning coaches. If he ever improves his strength proportionally he could be a very goodLtt for years, and could help him avoid some of the injuries hes had so far in future. I personally would love to see him resigned, but only if injuries are reason, and its not a lack of work effort ioff seasonon. Wdon'tnt need another player like Jason Peters, but I have not heard anyone say he is lazy or not willing to work at it yet, so I'm for giving benefit of the doubt here, and hopping that we are able to sign him if isnt too high a price.
  4. Of course your talking 3 years down the road if he's like Stevie.
  5. Please not London. yes he makes allot of tackles, but hes a trailer, who runs around blockers, and isnt great at pass coverage. Never been a fan of his, unless your playing a bend dont break type of defense, or have a freelancing go for broke type defense with a high scoring offense. Think we need someone with more size who is willing to take on and shed blockers to improve out run defense in a way that gets them off the field rather than prolong drives.
  6. Comming off an injury and over 30 hump, good luck getting a 1st for him, even if they wanted too.
  7. Well they arent that much different than Denver. Rely on defense and running mostly. They do have more playmakers, and most importantly better receivers, but not that much better qb. Think biggest difference is they wont be intimidated, and have been there before. Think most important factor will be which Flacco shows up, and if can get on hot streak during game. I think if NE scores early and takes Rice out of the game as a factor, NE blows them out. Thier best chance is to keep it close and wear out NE defense with steady dose of Rice. Honestly think NE wins this one, but am hoping I am wrong.
  8. If all he did was win, allot more people would have liked him. Mostly all he did was campain for himself, and alienate his teammates.
  9. Raiders dont have a 4th round pick in next years draft. They had to either pick him in 3rd or hope still was there in 5th.
  10. I would have boycotted the Bills if they signed him, and still would if they did now. I have boycotted every sponsor of the Eagles from day they signed him as well, and make sure never to watch any game he is involved in.
  11. Wouldnt work either way if they had the same mass. round would get stuck in straight area, and squares corners would stick way out. If looking to force with same mass round would have a better chance than square though. As square would protrude out much farther, and if get it through with force wouldnt be a square anymore, and would chop off atleast 2 of corners in process of forcing.
  12. Missed out on Willie Colon as well as he decided to resign with atl, not sure if anything left better than the undrafted freeagents out there anymore for RT.
  13. Only problem with young top players is they typically want to go to the already good teams or big market teams where they can get marketing deals. To get them to come to small market team like buffalo, have to way outbid the larger market teams typically. We need more than one or two splashes in next few years before one or two players can put us over the top. I agree with the build from within till close then wont have to overpay as much for those players and they will be able to see the prize at the end.
  14. 1 A+ 2 C 3 B+ love first pick. Feel have way too many needs on lines and seriously need linebackers to grab a cb at this point. Teams dont even need to throw for anything more than change of pace currently. Also not a big fan of the one they grabbed. Like that they finally got a linebacker for probably the worst group in the NFL.
  15. I do not believe he has the speed or athletic ability to play DE. In confined area he is very good, but that doesn't mean he can play in space, and seal an end. Moving to end wouldn't limit his exposure to run much either, as they could go to his side, and unlike the middle were there are multiple linebacker to cover, on the end they can bring more blockers than players and expose him even more. If they go to a 3 man line, they will never have a good run defence with him on the field in my opinion. Is a great asset in a 4 man line however.
  16. If Kyle Williams is our starting NT, I thinks its going to be a very long year for the defense. He was barely adequate at holding point of attack consistently in a one gap defense, were he just had to attack that whole. Now he will have to control the center and be able to shed them to cover either gap, or tie up center and guard to free up a lb consistently. Hes just not that type of player. If hes at nose, the LB's will have to be able to go through linemen to make tackles, which is not ideal for that style of defense. Even Ray Lewis looked ordinary when he didn't have a big NT in front of him to keep him clean. I am not saying he is not a good player, just that I think he is a lousy fit for this type of defense IMO.
  17. Most likely because he has a hard time dealing with press coverage. Timing is very important in passing game, and when pressed he has a hard time getting to his spots at the correct time. QB's will tend to look for the receivers they will know will be where supposed to be at the correct point in time, so if he cant learn to beat the press more consistently, will have a hard time getting a QB's confidence. Without that, he wont get many opportunities to show off his open field abilities.
  18. He see some great pockets, while watching the other teams QB from sidelines.
  19. Have a feeling they picked this guy up to fill in at lg if they don't get their LT in draft, and will keep Levitre as LT. He is a bit slow for tackle, but may be descent as a guard. Hangartner was actually a good guard when he played for Carolina, against some pretty good tackles. He played much better in the guard spot than center while there. When he snaps he has a hard time getting his arms extended for his blocks and can get bull rushed. When he was playing guard he rarely was hurt by bull rush, as was able to control with arms extended and keep them off his body. Was surprised that Bills put him at center and moved Wood to guard. Woods looked so natural at center, and Hangartner seems to struggle getting out of stance at times.
  20. If you ever watched Rob Johnson in practices, he was awesome. He almost always through to right person, beautiful looking ball, understood the offence and helped the players around him with the plays. He was one of the greatest practice QBs ever. On the field, with the pressure around him, was a different story obviously. You don't coach on the field however, but in practice. He probably makes a great teacher for QBs, as he really understood the plays, and how to execute them, and how to go through progressions in theory, even though he struggled with it in actual games. I wouldn't hold having an ex pro QB who stuck around the NFL for more than a few season, no matter how successful was on field, tutor an amateur. A lot of times, the backups and even 3rd string QBs who stick around pros for more than a few seasons get to understand the coaching side of play QB, better than the starter in some ways. They often relay in the plays and help the starter learn the game plan and go over film with him to find ways to help find things may have missed or give look at from different viewpoint. That role is not unlike the role that Rob is playing for Colt according to this, and he did that for several years for a lot of different QBs not named Flutie. Now if he had Flutie as his mentor, then yes would be worried, as dividing locker rooms seems to have been his specialty. I doubt Flutie would have had half the success he had with the bills, if Rob hadn't been their either honestly. Not because Rob tutored him in any way, but the rest of the offense was helped significantly by Rob in practices, due to the way he understood the offense and guided the younger players on the team. Flutie was not type to put the time in or go out of his way for anyone but himself. Plus if Flutie was better when he didn't have to start too many games in a row. If teams had a chance to game plan him and prepare too much, the "magic" wasn't so special. Having a true pocket QB as the other starter on and off, made defenses game plan like we had a QB that could throw the ball down the field, which helped a gadget player like Flutie a ton. Back to point, I think a player like Johnson is an ideal choice as a short term mentor/coach for players just coming out of college to help them prepare for the huge jump to the next level.
  21. When they drafted him, they knew he didn't know how to run routes in a pro offense, and it would take him some time to learn. He was just starting to understand the basic offense when he went down his rookie year. He never had a chance last year, as was on PUP for whole first half of year, and wasn't really full strength till the last few games. He isn't a slot receiver so had no position to play him, except when LE or TO sat out a play or two once he was. He still has allot to learn and needs playing time to develop. Hopefully he will be healthy for the whole off-season, so they can give him a good look, and he can get a chance to show whether he is ready or not. He has the physical tools to be a very good receiver, but unless he has learned how to run his routes consistently, the QB's are not going to look his way often. If the time with TO was as good as he said it was, he may make a huge step this off-season with conditioning, and put the required time in to learn to run routes better and study the film to learn the position better. He should be ready to compete for a starting role this year, but hopefully they bring in a Veteran WR for him and Steve Johnson to compete with. I am looking for big things from him this year, but lets hope they hedge there bets and bring in some more competition at the position.
  22. I have to agree with this statement. I was on side of trading Peters, not because think he is a bad tackle, but because he seem to not care and not want to be here anymore. Even if they paid him, not sure he ever would have been happy after the holdout and not getting paid when he wanted. Both sides needed a fresh start there. I actually thought that Walker would be able to hold the fort till Bell was ready, but apparently Walker either wasn't capable, or just didn't put the effort forth he needed to, since he didn't want to move to LT to begin with. I still think Bell may be a good tackle once he finishes developing, but considering how raw he was, when fully healthy he held up pretty well I think. They definitely should have brought in at least a veteran to back him up who had some experience. Even if was just a backup, having a veteran presence to lean on and learn from would have helped, and when he got hurt initially, would have been able to stay on bench till was fully healed, instead of coming back early and getting injured again. They gambled big time at one of the most critical positions on the offense, and it failed.
  23. We played a Hybrid version of 4-4 in High School as well. But ours was weird in that we had 2 safeties and one CB. Allot of the teams in our League ran a 3 back system anyway, but if they ran a Receiver out to that side, the LB on that side would slide out and Bump him and cover short zone if pass. The couple of teams that did pass, only had one descent receiver anyway, so our CB would just shadow him. Worked real well against the run and with 2 safeties, we didn't give up many long plays for pass either, but the one team that had a good TE gave us trouble with that defense. 4-4 in its truest since wouldn't work in NFL for anything but short yardage or red zone where don't have to worry about long ball, or have a big receiver for fade routes if in Red Zone, but see teams bring safeties up to where basically lined up in 4-4 formation often when they are struggling to stop the run. As mentioned earlier, they do so many variations now with stunting and varying coverages, tough to say what really running at times. Seen anywhere from 0 men down on line to 7 with same personnel with some of the Patriots defenses. The key being that don't telegraph where lining up by personnel on field too much where they can't as easily key on personnel to know what your going to do. That would be main issue with 4-4, as if have 4 true linemen, and linebackers, would be tough to stop a good offense from taking advantage in passing game.
  24. How? He is large slower LB that relies on strength and taking direct angles. London is undersized small LB that relied on speed and runs around the blockers. Can't think of a much different type of Lb to compare him too.
