  1. All of this because the Pegulas took a kid out to dinner? Can we analyze what entree the kid ordered? Or, is this the classic TBD ordained "smoke screen" taken to the ownership level!
  2. Seriously, a TV event to announce the preseason teams. Not even a schedule with dates, just the teams and if it was game 1-4. And I know people who watched it
  3. The NFL and the players union regulates how often they can wear pads in practice. You think they would allow a "friendly" to be played?
  4. Nonsense. 8 days a year is not make or break for any cities economy.
  5. First line, blah meaningless. The rest could be very good stuff though. Gives him a jump start with the current players, particularly if the "legends" know the current players off the field and could give insight as to where the players heads are at.
  6. If you managed to convince yourself the Bills were going to be 0-16 the past 18 years, just think how happy you'd be when they ended up 8-8ish. It might be a better strategy than expecting 10-6 or better then being very disappointed at 7-9 and no playoffs.
  7. Makes sense to go with something like Prime. Why give something away when there are fools ... err ... people willing to pay for it! Mo money, mo money ...
  8. Following the $$ is always a good move. But things like FB are a shotgun approach with anyone, anywhere following the team. It's like asking a thousand girls to sleep with you hoping one says yes. Assuming they owned the board, they had the data for every member. That's much more of a focused targeted list of potential customers, both new and upgrades. The money in this case I suspect was like you mentioned, the cost of running the board and maintaining it and maybe being in some way liable for what happened there. Much cheaper and easier to do it the way they are now.
  9. Seems like it might be fun at least once, particularly if you have kids to bring.
  10. As soon as the Juice's prior commitment is over.
  11. It wasn't a comment on the Leafs. It was a comment on the quality of the Sabres. They still suck, and are out the playoffs again. That game was just a recent example he might have seen. A glacial pace it seems.
  12. Yup, the legendary Buffalo Bills smokescreen
  13. You know I keep hearing this. But the Bills have been treading water for nearly the past 2 decades. Season ticket sales are very strong. I have to believe Pegula not only isn't losing money, but is making a pretty fair amount. A very large number of Bills fans only require them to be in Buffalo to support the team. How exactly will they drown? I would think for as long as they have been treading water, if they were going to drown it would have happened already.
  14. Yes, but what do the Bills do?
  15. They didn't tank, they just sucked. Still do as a matter of fact. Watch any of the Toronto game last night? Holy crap do they still suck.
  16. Only a valid question if you believe the Bills started EJ in order to lose the game to improve their draft position. I don't think that way. IMO it was done simply as a business decision based on TT's contract situation and the fact that he was slightly injured.
  17. I agree with this. Even with the mediocre on a good day product on the field the better part of the last 2 decades, a lot of people still bought seasons. Put a quality product on the field and those people will find a way to come up with the additional money, and the ones that cannot or will not will be replaced by others that will.
  18. The NFL has sucked about as much money as they can out of the American consumer. They have to expand beyond the US to continue to increase their yearly take. If that will work or crash and burn is up for discussion.
  19. A few short seasons ago many here thought the Bills won that offseason because Rex was on his way.
  20. I'm not saying it is going to happen, or even likely, but I do think it could. The Bills have 8 regular season games, a couple preseason, and (please god someday) a playoff game or two a year. Hardly make or break for the Buffalo economy as a whole. As someone said, Pegulas passion is hockey, specifically the Sabres. If push came to shove and he had to foot the bill for a new stadium or move the team I could see him selling the Bills and getting back to what he loves, the Sabres. Not one of the "all-time worst business decisions in the history of business decisions" at all. In fact, it would probably give him a few thousand less headaches a year and maybe make him a buck or two if the new owners really wanted the team.
  21. Makes me wonder if there will be a sports book in the shiny new stadium.
