Details of statement against Big Ben are released.
CodeMonkey replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Beat up? I must have missed that part. And yes it is disgusting. But what does him being a "G'damn pro bowl QB" have to do with it? What makes anyone think just because he can throw a football he should be a good person and not a scumbag? Dude, he plays football and is probably as dumb as one of the balls. He is not Mother Theresa. -

I probably should not even respond but sometimes people cross a threshold of insanity and you must. How in the world to you get "cut n dry" that he raped her out of that? She couldn't remember if they had sex or not (he really must be little Ben after all) and said he did not rape her. Bottom line. He is a scumbag who probably !@#$ed her. She was so wasted she has no clue. Only one person (Roethlisberger) knows for sure and he isn't talking. No legal case obviously. Whether the commish gets a wild hair up his ass and decides to punish Roethlisberger anyway (which apparently he is entitled to do and I still find astounding) remains to be seen. -

Yeah. All NFL players and coaches spend all of their free time at church oriented social activities. Didn't this horrible disgusting rapist get the memo? Football is such a wholesome and spiritual activity that anyone having the audacity to be accused of a scumbag act should not even be allowed into a stadium, much less play the holy game. People like BR, Lynch, Jim Kelly (Before you ask), OJ etc etc should never EVER be allowed to play this game. -
Random, important question- Rio de Janeiro

Having been there a few times I'd be amazed if you found any bar showing American Football much less things like the draft. I doubt it's even an option with their TV provider(s). The internet will have to be your friend. -
Rapelisberger could still be suspended

I'm not nervous about this in particular. If he is guilty then he should be punished appropriately and severely. I only get nervous when people get punished based on accusations only ... for example as you say "the NFL not needing to prove anything". Yes, any employer being able to do that makes me nervous. -

Yes details ... trickling you say .... out is certainly proof of guilt. I stand corrected. -

You know, a lot of professional athletes and other celebrities could certainly benefit from such a service. -

If an investigation on the up and up is done and they find evidence that he did what these girls said, then certainly. At that point it is much more than just accusations. Obviously the whole concept of accused versus proven is lost on you. -

Yes of course. But even in privately held businesses there are laws protecting employees. -

Wild, and a bit insane in my opinion, stuff! This can't be legal, can it? I understand convicted, but just accused? What if this weekend a girl goes to his front door selling magazine subscriptions then files a police report that he raped her (assume for arguments sake that he did not). What then, suspended for the season and the Steelers fined a million dollars? Lunacy. -

This is getting out of hand. A rumor about a team getting fined for something one of its players was accused (not convicted) of. -

Lynch was convicted. Not to mention caught in the act. -

With him directly? Probably most but I imagine some would back off. With the NFL? All advertisers would stay of course. Remember the Vick stuff at the beginning of last season? All of the "not on my team" stuff you read. Remember people thinking advertisers would drop off etc. Did it adversely affect anything? Not in the least little bit as far as I can tell. And Vick was convicted, not just accused. You honestly believe one player on one team in the NFL is going to be able to stop advertisers from wanting to reach out to all those couch potatoes watching the NFL Sunday afternoons and Monday nights? Not on your life. And even if by some quirk in the universe the people would stop watching games because of this, and advertisers dropped out in droves and the TV contracts dried up, do you think suspending said scumbag player for a couple games would change that? That is not the world we live in. -

I would not be fired for simply being charged of a crime. I doubt you would either. Unless it was a crime against humanity like becoming a cheatriats fan. Then I would of course deserve it. Wow! That's even more open ended than the patriot act!!! So basically it is up to the whim of the commish. Nice. How does making money (which is the main value upon which the NFL is based) apply here? -

I'm still confused as to why people think he could be, or should be, punished by the commish. Is he a scumbag? Maybe, don't know. Did he rape any or all of these girls? Maybe, don't know. Is he brain damaged for continuing to put himself in these situations? Definitely. But you simply cannot punish someone because maybe they did something wrong. No matter how disgusting the thing he may have done wrong is. Some choose to believe the accusers. Some choose to believe the accused. I choose to wait and let the court decide. It's the only thing that makes any sense to me. Imagine what this society would function like if every accusation was considered as fact immediately. If it does not make it to court (and yes, paying off the accuser if the act actually happened sucks in a situation like this) you have to treat that as if nothing happened. It is very simple. It really is. -
You say that based on 2 words from one definition? How about these since you seem obsessed about "fan" coming from "fanatic": A person marked or motivated by an extreme, unreasoning enthusiasm, as for a cause. a person whose enthusiasm or zeal for something is extreme or beyond normal limits Informal a person devoted to a particular hobby or pastime; fan a jazz fanatic Or from a thesaurus: fanatic - a person motivated by irrational enthusiasm (as for a cause) enthusiast, partizan, partisan - an ardent and enthusiastic supporter of some person or activity As to the bolded part of your quote, give me a !@#$ing break and grow up.

How the Mighty Have Fallen A little tough to hear but I can't find any fault in what he says. But give them another 3 or 4 years and we will be right back in the hunt ... right?
-
Also A fan, sometimes also called aficionado or supporter, is a person with an intense, occasionally overwhelming liking and enthusiasm for something. Maybe the whiners as you call them have an intense, occasionally overwhelming dislike for the object of their fandom sucking balls the the last decade. You can be a fan and not follow blindly forever. Just sayin.

Was this the same night he said firing Gailey was a big mistake?

Bradshaw spells it out for Rapelisberger

My comment wasn't about getting in trouble, it was about Bradshaws comment about staying out of clubs his entire career. -
I certainly can't argue with that!

I'm sure TB is correct. But that same logic could be applied to going anywhere, not just clubs. What's the guy supposed to do, sit at home and read (assuming he can read) for 14 years? Not terribly realistic. If you were young, rich, and famous, which would you choose? -
If she was raped ... and that's all we can say right now ... then I'm sure everyone would detest him even more than Vick. I certainly would. But if she is bringing a false accusation .... and again, that's all we can say right now ... in order to get a payday then she is the scumbag. It is amazing to me how people can jump to illogical conclusions so quickly and believe one person they don't know over another person they don't know. If this was Lee Evans or Freddy Jackson instead of a non-Bill, would you be so quick to believe the girl?
