It's not a matter of scripting, but awareness. Have you ever seen a player intercept a pass but rather than score, take a knee about 5 yards from the end zone so that the offense can run out the clock rather than allow the other team the ball again? Awareness. Look, Josh is a baller all day long no doubt and I'm glad he's a Bill. But a MVP also has that awareness of the game situation.

Hamlin officially wins PFWA Comeback Player of the Year
CodeMonkey replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills kept him on the roster for something, the feel good award for the NFL to tout is something. He did do one relevant thing on the field this season, he was instrumental in "the fake punt" after all. Keeping him around this season qualified him for the NFL pension plan. At the end of the day he was a player on a team, and it's probably impossible to come back any farther than near death on the field. Let the guy have his full 15 min of fame (and his pension). -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - I Just Love the Bills
CodeMonkey replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well written as always. Your new Zenlike attitude to your fandom is a much smarter, and infinitely healthier (mentally in particular) way to be IMO. Congrats -
Am I the only one not planning on watching Chiefs/Ravens??
CodeMonkey replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm not a football fan, I'm a Bills fan. So I almost certainly will not be watching. -
Damn, I hate it when I mix nicknames

Would the Bills have beaten the Ravens?
CodeMonkey replied to Dan Darragh's topic in The Stadium Wall
One of the talking heads commented after the game that given the injuries to the Bills D, they likely would have gotten steamrolled over by the Ravens. I tend to agree with that, but any given Sunday ... -
I disagree. I think he did a pretty amazing job with the D considering the endless tidal wave of injuries. No issues as a DC, but at HC he has some glaring deficiencies.

Ahhhh, but put on your "more money" NFL hat for a moment. If that play had worked, to Hamlin in particular, and the Bills went on to win, just imagine the feel good stories that we would be reading today. I have no way of knowing if that was thought about pre game, or even at the heat of the moment. But why in the world else do you get it to Hamlin with that game on the line.

The Ripoff Report 2023 Finale - Autopsy and Prognosis
CodeMonkey replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall
I believe the announcers last night said there were teams sniffing around Brady for a head coach position. I'm actually surprised KC didn't take advantage of Klein on Kelce even more than they did. -

Do you wonder if the league is fixed?
CodeMonkey replied to The Red King's topic in The Stadium Wall
More, or less than they would love the coverage of Taylor Swift during superbowl week and the game itself? -

You might very well be correct -
Do you wonder if the league is fixed?
CodeMonkey replied to The Red King's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well, it certainly turned out in a way that makes the NFL happy. -

You need better reading comprehension. I do not believe it is possible to rig a NFL game. -
Do you wonder if the league is fixed?

Yup but that chance was removed. And KC-Swift vs Buffalo is a ratings machine, Fuels the tin foil hats even more. -

No PI/holding on the turnover on downs that essentially ended the game is the biggest complaint I have seen, I have to agree with that one actually. But bad calls are a part of the NFL. -
Do you wonder if the league is fixed?
CodeMonkey replied to The Red King's topic in The Stadium Wall
It would be too difficult to "rig" games and have it not leak. But there are more than a few NFL fans, not just squealer fans, who firmly believe the NFL wanted Chiefs + Swift vs Bills who point to the 2nd half of todays game officiating as proof. I am by no means a conspiracy theory person, but they did get some help today. It does help my world domination plan. Swift comes to Buffalo and falls in love with the city and its people. Meets T Pegula and buys both the Sabres and Bills so Terry can spend all his time with his wife. Hands of gold Swift brings the cup and superbowl to Buffalo! -
Fish FANS think it's unsafe to play in the cold....ironic?
CodeMonkey replied to Matt_In_NH's topic in The Stadium Wall
More unsafe to play in 100+ degree heat with the direct sunlight on the players bench. -

CodeMonkey replied to The Red King's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just answer me one question. How could it be scripted? Who is scripting it, who is benefiting? And how are they doing it with no leaks. For it to be scripted at a conspiracy theory level, there would need to be a LOT of people involved. No one gets mad and blabs? No whistleblower gets approached and leaks? Come on man. Bad calls happen because the NFL rules are too anal retentive and abstract to be enforceable. That's what you are seeing as scripted. It's the same old "the refs hate the Bills" being the reason they sucked for so long. -
What Bills Christmas presents did you get?

Hamlin, IMO, is on the roster for the public relations bonus to the team. Or, to avoid the PR fiasco if they had cut him. But based on the CPOY definition... "shows perseverance in overcoming adversity, in the form of not being in the NFL the previous year, a severe injury, or simply poor performance." ... he probably deserves to be considered. However it also says "who overcomes adversity to return to remarkable performance" There has been no performance really, much less a remarkable one. Hamlin will win because it is a very feel good story that the NFL loves to put forward to the public.

This will be the first game I miss in 27 years. Thanks NFL
CodeMonkey replied to Heavy Kevi's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's the NFL as always making the money grab, they made the deal with Peacock. The one and only thing they care about the fans is how deep their pockets are. No you won't
