Not to Add Fuel to the Fire This Week but.....
CodeMonkey replied to BRAWNDO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's pretty simple. When Mr. Wilson passes someone will buy the team. If that person/group wishes to keep the team in WNY I have no doubt that a deal will be done to keep them there. Having a few years left on a lease on that stadium would not keep the team in Buffalo. At most it would make the team a little less attractive to all potential buyers. If the new owners want to stay in WNY let them negotiate their own deal. This lease extension simply is the smart move at this time. No more and no less. -
Was Mario being a crybaby, you be the judge

New York Jets coach Rex Ryan said he didn't see Austin Howard use illegal hands to the face in blocking Mario Williams on Sunday. What he saw, he said, was his right tackle playing an outstanding game and keeping the $100 million defensive end at bay. http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/8362395/new-york-jets-rex-ryan-austin-howard-blocked-buffalo-bills-mario-williams-legally This was a matchup between a 100 million dollar DE against a practice squad RT. Hands in the face or not, Williams should have been able to blow up Howard all day long. Williams had a bad game, he should have just admitted it and moved on. -

I can only speak for myself, but it would be exactly the same except for those 8-10 days a year. I did overlook one thing though. My family enjoys going to camp at SJF multiple times every year. That would be missing for them as well. Do you really think the Bills are the difference between WNY being hell on earth or not? I think you should ponder that statement a little because I think you are being just a tad over dramatic -

8 to 10 days out a a 365 day year (2.74%) is a big enough quality of life benefit to matter? That plus there are 50,000 season ticket holders out of the population of the entire region. I'd prefer them to stay, but the Bills going or staying means exceptionally little to the overall quality of life for most people in the area in my opinion. -
CBS talking heads, who almost all picked the Bills last week, all except 2 pick the Bills this week as well. ESPN talking heads, who picked the Bills 9 to 5 over the Jets last week, 3 out of 9 (not everyone has their picks in yet) pick the Bills this week. http://www.cbssports...rs/expert/picks http://espn.go.com/nfl/picks I see a close game. But that's what I said last week as well, so what the hell do I know.

I know there is alot of negativity

Perhaps. but the last time the Bills won 8 games in a season was 2004, so ... -

Nothing wrong with being optimistic, and there is nothing wrong with being a homer. But the Giants are the Giants, the Pack is the Pack, and the Bills ... well, are the Bills. Play a game with those 3 teams and tell me which of the three doesn't belong in the group It is only 1 game so far, and there has been some anger and panic expressed here. But I think for most it is more acknowledgement and resignation. For most at TBD this is not the first time at the rodeo. Maybe everyone should homer up and not give in so easily. But after the last 12 years, and the vast majority of the Bills history (under .500 for it's NFL existence) you can't really blame them for not wanting to get their hopes up too high. -
This should come as no surprise to anyone. Despite what you think of Rex as a person, there is no doubt he can coach ... particularly defense. In my opinion Rex > Chan + Stache. This above all else makes me dubious of the Bills ability to leapfrog the Jets for a shot at the wildcard this season. I figured the Bills would need to have more talent than the Jets on both sides of the ball to overcome the coaching deficit, and I figured it would take at least one more draft that was offense centric for that. I didn't plan on the Bills defense to look like a big steaming pile of **** Sunday though. Hopefully that at least was an anomaly that we will see corrected very soon (like this Sunday!).

Fixed. What the fans think and what the players think are not necessarily the same thing.

Bad Strategy.. Kick off specialist..
CodeMonkey replied to Meark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could be wrong but didn't I see him punting during preseason as well? So he would be a backup punter in addition to kickoff specialist? -
At TBD that is every time the Bills get smoked.
-
Not disagreeing with you. Just think this caught Stache by surprise and assuming he realizes this now not sure how long before he can get exotic blitz packages into the D playbook if they aren't there already.

So it would appear our Cuomo debate above has been rendered moot. -

CodeMonkey replied to BRAWNDO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the money needs to come from the state, then what is Cuomos incentive for putting it into an old stadium in Buffalo that is used 10 times a year when his budget cuts are laying off teachers etc.? Even if every single person in Buffalo sent a message saying they would not vote for him if he did not pony up the cash (and they wouldn't, only a very small percentage of people care enough about the Bills to put effort into such a thing) I contend it still wouldn't amount to the votes spending the money elsewhere would buy him. I would prefer the Bills to stay in Buffalo. But I tell you sincerely, if Cuomo puts millions of dollars into that stadium while at the same time making budget cuts that adversely affects the states schools and other important things, I will not vote for him in any capacity, state or federal. -
Character risk? I would think Merrimans use of the juice would have disqualified him on those grounds as well if that's what was worrying ChaNix. The real reason, in my opinion, is Gailey wanted a scatback and a power runner like Lynch didn't suit him. Pure and simple. So far it seems to have worked out OK for Seattle. For Buffalo not so much. Though with any luck this may be the year that starts turning around for Buffalo.

You really think Cuomo gives a flying !@#$ about the Bills stadium? He cares about what all top end NY politicians care about, NYC. If they carry the city they get (re)elected. Buffalo is a pimple on the ass of nowhere by comparison. If you want to try and do something constructive, target local politicians who DO need to get reelected by the people in the Buffalo area. -
Yeah I was thinking about that. I worry that Stache sincerely thought that with the quality and depth that he has at DL now, that rushing 4 was always going to be sufficient and would always be able to put enough pressure on the QB to cover for the LBs and DBs. Last Sunday at least, that was shown to be a grave error. If his plan was always to rush 4 and little to no blitzing, how long would it take to insert, as you say, exotic blitz packages into the defensive game plan? I guess we will see against KC.

Fitz is what he is at this point in his career, there is no adjusting there. Gailey has not yet, in his career with the Bills, shown any adjusting at all. Your assumption that he will magically do so now is illogical. Stache showed no adjusting during preseason, which you can justify. But he also did not in that turd-fest Sunday. Will he now? Hopefully yes but we will see. I agree with you that NFL teams adjust. The question is, are the Bills coaches NFL caliber or not.

Where to watch the game in Miami Beach
CodeMonkey replied to QB Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. WTF would you be doing in a bar in the afternoon in South Beach. -
Call me naive but I don't think they will be trying to injure him. You can bet they sure will be looking to pop him good at every opportunity though. Hope his groin doesn't get re-injured in the process.
