  1. This not only makes no sense to me at all, but it would also presuppose that Nix is some master of manipulation and throwing a smokescreen for the draft ... like anyone cares what the Bills are going to do with their #8. The only thing that makes sense to me is that the Bills are now trying, and probably have been all along, to sign free agents. They just have not been able to. .
  2. While I can see Nix being the scapegoat next year much like Gailey is this year (and well earned I might add), the thought that this is a premeditated plan hatched by Brandon in order to keep the payroll down is a bit of a stretch, even for TBD No big conspiracy, the Bills just have sucked for 13 years and counting.
  3. Now now. This is the off-season remember. The time of year when Bills fans can revel, if they so choose, in the fact that THIS is finally the year when things turn around due to new coaching, new players, or whatever has changed from the last season that was obviously the cause of all of the problems. You know, much like the last 13 off-seasons
  4. This is what I love about this place. The new HC/OC were 25-25 at Syracuse. The DC has potential, but it is unclear (at least to me) how much of the D was due to him and how much was due to Sexy Rexy. Presumably (hopefully) whoever the starting QB is, he isn't on the roster yet. They lost or cut several starters and, so far anyway, picked up a former backup LB in free agency. They have 6 draft picks and presumably Nix will start bargain hunting the FA market soon. Yet you see 3 more wins without Fitz than you saw with Fitz. I will give you credit for saying 2014 is the year and not 2013, and for saying 8-8 and not 14-2. It is impressive to me, and says a lot about the character of Bills fans in general, that the team can be in the midst of a suck-streak of record proportions and many fans still just Billieve. I don't have the capacity for blind faith in my character I guess. I'm not sure if the Bills will stay in Buffalo or not after Mr. Wilson passes, but the true Billievers do deserve a team.
  5. I don't know if its hate. There might be something to the saying "better the devil that you know than the devil that you don't" in some cases anyway. The OP poses a fair question to the people who want Nix out ASAP, what makes you assume Whaley will do any better? For example, most if not all of the Jauron haters wanted him out ASAP, and were happy to see Gailey come in assuming he had to be better than Jauron. Gailey had arguably better players to work with and ended up never achieving the lofty season records of Jauron. We can hope that Whaley will be better, and in fact great. But I'm not sure simply the fact that he is "well respected" translates into that he will be. Plus if Brandon et al have so much faith in Whaley, why is Nix apparently still calling the shots?
  6. The difference is that the Bills coaches, being new, are not coaching for their jobs this year. They have at least 2 seasons after this before that happens. Plus the Bills QB situation is currently far worse than the Titans, unfortunately.
  7. Great move by the Colts. If Luck gets banged up at all they have a solid backup. Plus I'm sure his experience will prove invaluable to Luck. Well played Indy.
  8. Loved his toughness, hated his throwing motion (and hence his inaccuracy). Also loved him at camp, He seemed to go out of his way every year to give one of my sons stuff at the fence I wish him nothing but success. His is a class act in my book.
  9. A backup on a good team is much easier on a body, particularly an aging body, of a QB.
  10. I think you mean the Orchard Park Bills.
  11. Well lets see. They did not draft a QB in a QB rich draft. Instead signing very non-rookie Fitz to the big starting QB deal ... only to cut him the next off season. Thus leaving themselves in need of a QB in a QB poor draft. No playoffs, and abysmal season records for 13 straight years. No easy feat in this era of balance in the NFL. After 13 years of sucking, needing to bring in a brand new coaching staff (due to existing coaches sucking REAL bad and picked by the same still surviving GM) thus invoking yet another rebuild cycle. Nothing snake-bit there.
  12. That is maybe the worst attempt at a negative post I have ever seen
  13. The Bills should get something for sucking 13 straight years followed by a complete coaching change. That's not easy to do!
  14. Nothing against you in particular because I see this all the time and I believe it is almost never true. It would be true only if the roster immediately after the cuts/losses is better than it was before. Which is rarely the case and clearly not this time. Yes, those players for the most part were pedestrian. But they were the Bills best players for the most part. As of now they leave holes that have not been filled, much less filled by someone better. I'm not saying that by the start of camp they won't be filled with better players, but as of now the Bills have not managed to do so. So, it clearly is not addition by subtraction.
  15. There is much more to hosting a SB than a new stadium, dome or no dome. There are requirements for example for numbers of hotel rooms that I can't imagine Buffalo would come anywhere near. Plus is the NFL going to put it's showcase event in Buffalo NY? Stadium or no stadium, a SB in Buffalo does not seem even remotely possible to me.
  16. Looks to me like another rebuild cycle, which I guess is to be expected with another full coaching change. I expect the Bills to go shopping for bargains in the FA market and pick up some depth if they are lucky, and camp fodder if they are not. Then try and have a good draft. You know, same **** different season.
  17. Like in real estate it's all location location location. A Focus in some **** hole dirt poor town in the Philippines or somewhere is a Lexus. In Buffalo, SJ is a Lexus.
  18. That's what I'm thinking. Someone in the NE organization saw enough in him to think he could amount to something with Marcia throwing to him. I wish him luck (except for two games a year ). Going from the Bills to almost anywhere else has got to be an upgrade for a WR.
  19. Maybe you really do, but I see this type of statement a lot. But what I remember here is very few people expressing doubts about Gailey and Stache right after they were hired. It was pretty much all "I have much more confidence in Gailey than I did with Jauron" etc. .
  20. NFL.com lists interested teams as the Jests.
  21. When I saw the title I thought this was going to be about how the Bills are the farm team of the NFL. Oh how TBD has jaded me
  22. I agree completely. I was very much hoping that somehow Fitz would sign as a backup with the pay cut. Now we will probably wind up with a rookie QB and TJax as the backup.
  23. A sound philosophy I think. But people are getting pretty impatient after 13 years of sucking. Yet another new regime rebuild cycle is a hard sell to some Bills fans.
  24. A new coaching staff that people are largely sold on, even with little evidence. A new, probably rookie, QB that they can sell. Russ Brandon is a marketing guy, he will come up with some gimmick. And last but certainly not least, Bill fans want DESPERATELY to Billieve. There is a hard core group of season ticket holders, many of them post here, who would buy seasons if the Bills went 0-16 for 5 straight years, so long as they were in Buffalo. Plus lots of others who look for any shred of hope to use as a reason to buy tickets and/or go for the tailgating. There are bound to be blacked out games, but I doubt you will see games like Jax where it looks like a closed practice in their stands.
