I think he is back next season as well. He is due $4 mil from the Bills and I don't see anyone offering him more than that. I also think that beyond next season that if Whaley and Marrone want Spiller, they will get him at a good price as RBs in general are devalued and Spiller's resume so far is not spectacular. That could change of course if somehow Spiller comes out next season, stays healthy, and tears it up. But that isn't likely to happen in my opinion. As someone mentioned above, love him as a person. At camp for example he always went out of his way for the kids that were there. But as a running back he is lacking IMO.

What was masterful about it? Multiple penalties, multiple sacks, needing to convert on a 4th and 20 that any decent defense stops cold, even the pass that got them close to the goal line wasn't a great pass and could easily have been intercepted if not for the receiver making a strong play. Some past Bills teams would have just rolled over and given up and this team clearly did not, but don't make it more than it was

Well, unless someone else pointed out earlier, the money is the same or at least close elsewhere and he can play for a team that would give him the chance to showcase his talents a year before hitting UFA.

I think, but don't know for sure, that someone in the TV truck tells the system where to draw the line. i suspect (s)he had the benefit of watching the video and quickly told the system where the ball should be, and that's where it drew the line. Things were moving fast and it was never changed after the actual spot.

If any of those teams match the $4 mil I can see that happening.

They better not worry about the betting line. The NFL has enough bad press already this season. The last thing they need is a gambling scandal

Home field advantage is generally 3 points so it makes sense. Another game of 2 bad teams in the eyes of the vast majority of the betting public.

Interesting question. He can't feel good about how he is being used, or how he has performed in Buffalo. He is due $2.2 mil in base salary, plus $1.8 mil option bonus if he stays with the Bills. Will another team think enough of him to top that is the question. If another team makes him a good offer I think he takes it. If there is no such offer, he stays with the Bills for the $4 mil and tries to put a resume together next season for when he hits the UFA market that Spring. EDIT: I chose option 3, that he will not opt out. Mainly because based on his body of work to date, I don't think any other team will make him a big $$$ offer.

Every spot is a guesstimate by the very nature of the game. The refs were well down the field when the catch was made and made their best guess. Unless the NFL comes up with a system where video camera's or a chip in the ball is used to determine the correct spot every play it will never be accurate.

^^^ this ^^^ But the posters in this thread that are talking playoffs this season, did you watch that game yesterday? Neither of those teams will be in the post season if they play like that, nor should they be. But also as the saying goes ... you are what your record says you are. And right now that record is over .500.

A win is absolutely a win. And a win is always better than a loss, period. But did either of you think the Bills looked like a team that should be considered as a playoff contender yesterday? Based on Marrones presser, he didn't. And either do I. So yes I am happy the Bills won, but the way they played was a very sobering experience for the remainder of the season. At least for me.

i understand football does not award style points But watching that game yesterday, did you think either team looked like playoff contenders? I certainly did not. They both sucked. The Bills managed to gut out a win which actually is worth a few style points, but only after the Vikings sucked so bad as to give up a first down on a 4th and 20. Just a horrifically played game IMO.

Not sure I have seen a more poorly played game by 2 teams in a long time. It was simply painful to watch. The only good things I can say about it are that it is over, and the Bills ended up with the "W". Awarding two "L"'s would have been more fitting for that game though.

For a lot of people it is all about the social gathering/party, not the game. Which explains the drunken fights you saw as well as the seemingly lack of understanding when to make noise. It's not that they didn't know, they just didn't care.

Did you see how long Darcy - worthless piece of **** - Regier lasted on the Sabres? Pegula is a solid businessman and as such is not likely to make brash emotional decisions like that until he has found someone better for the job(s). I would be shocked to see any coaches not survive this season.

The thing is, for the most part the ones "complaining" are the ones that were at the game. This is to say, the ones that already have purchased their seasons. I have a family of 5 and we all enjoy watching together. And there is no way in hell I am buying 5 seasons. Besides, I much prefer watching at home to being in the stadium for reasons discussed in other threads. So it makes little difference to me personally what percentage of away fans are there. Though I certainly understand how Bills fans in attendance as well as the Bills players would have a very different opinion.

Actually you are wrong here. They still exist after wins, just far fewer of them.
