Josh back working with Palmer..
Mr. WEO replied to loveorhatembillsfan4life's topic in The Stadium Wall
How indeed. Let's here from......Jordan Palmer!! "I've said this a bunch, Sam is one of the best young quarterbacks in this league," Palmer recently said on an appearance on ESPN's NFL Live. "He has everything. You talk to smart coaches around the league, Sam is one of those guys that they put in a different category. It's just going to be a matter of time for him. "Last offseason, he had an unbelievable offseason," he said. "He laid out a plan with his coaching staff and he checked every box. Then the mono thing hit, there was a new coaching staff, so with Sam, I don't think that he has to make any drastic changes to what he's doing. I think it's just going to be a matter of time until things click. People are healthy, guys know the system and he'll explode. and... "I've been around Josh (Rosen) since HS. When I look at Josh, from a talent perspective, talking to a lot of folks, it's pretty unanimous across the board, this guy mechanically is really clean. I think Josh is going to be a phenomenal player." "Jordan explained that when Carson Palmer studied Rosen film before the 2018 draft, he came away comparing him to Tom Brady in how he is decisive, gets rid of the football quickly and pushes the ball down the field." lol--the Jordan Palmer hype machine (here) never rests. -
It was a very weak bluff. Austin? That town knew nothing about it until the rumor hit. There's zero chance that 24 owners would vote to put another team in Texas. This was posted and discussed earlier in this thread: https://www.investigativepost.org/2022/02/28/state-historically-not-a-big-funder-of-stadiums/ You are conflating state funds with local and federal. The city/local money for those downstate projects came in the form of tax abatements, infrastructure/land, rent credits, etc.--as you said. The state money is in cash "grants", loans, tax exempt bonds (by far, more money was gotten this way with federal bonds--no state), tax breaks. As you can see, the overall "state" contribution as a percent of all funding, is low. The Bills stadium will be almost 50% funded directly by the state. Since the Bills aren't building a stadium, they should hardly be expected to get "tax breaks" for the building of one. If you want to compare this project to downstate projects, then the state should have offered the 250 million and Erie County should pick up the 600 million. Then it's more apples to apples. Maybe because she has made a mockery of a once proud NHL franchise. And it's Hochul who announced the state was going to build Kim Terry a new stadium ...
-
Bass, as a rookie, had a record breaking season with Bojo holding for him. Plus he can punt.
-
Certainly one of the more bizarre Bills roster moves (keeping this guy around so long) in memory.
-
I think there is no chance that owners like Pegula, Blank, Kroenke, etc sit quietly and meekly by while 3-4 other owners “pull all the strings” on their business. Zero point zero chance. These are collective decisions because each decision affects everyone’s money
-
the money always flows the other way

There's a spectrum that exists between "NFL team (likely bluffing) leaving" and "the biggest state funding of an NFL stadium in US history"...

I didn't mean to go too too heavy on the math. And I will tell you, Amazon DID end up buying a building on 5th avenue for a billion dollars of its own money for 3500 new workers/taxpayers. I'm sure they have some sort of public space/lobby--maybe even a gift shop you can visit from out of state. Pretty sure they even have a bunch of restaurants in Manhattan (maybe not as good as Anchor Bar or Mighty Taco) you could go to while you're there. Hotels nearby too, I think. Check it out!
-
Name a single owner who wants to bring up the topic of team finances/accounting methods with the public or it's elective representatives.
-
Well.....Amazon isn't a tourist attraction that you visit. It's a place of business that was intending to bring in 25,000+ jobs averaging $150,000 (that alone would bring in $150million in NYC income tax per year), not a rarely used entertainment venue employing a few dozen concession workers and maintenance folks. But if the above is your argument, yeah--this is a pointless debate.
-
They usually make deals to lessen their tax burden going forward (think Amazon in Queens). It's not common for municipalities to hand them their building costs in a large suitcase. Plus, corporations are usually open for business in their new building more than 10 days a year.

Gronk signs with Bills for veteran minimum

Get back in the pumpkin with this weak **** -
What about the "Buffalo Billion" (dollars) from only 5-6 years ago? Why?

If you could have had RJ call one famous Bills play
Mr. WEO replied to JohnBonhamRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall
Rob Johnson? call a play? -
These are predictable results: solid majorities against in every major city except Buffalo, where 1/3 polled don't want it either....and they are getting a new stadium.

NYS state budget meeting with regards to new stadium.
Mr. WEO replied to clearwater cadet's topic in The Stadium Wall
NYC actually funded far more than the NYS on those downstate projects. So downstate NYS reps are not wrong to criticize the state's massive involvement in a stadium in Buffalo. I bet they would be happy to support Hochul on this one if Erie County was kicking in 650 million and the state only 200 mill. -
Agreed, but constructing this is pouring public money into the drain. Its a 1.35 billion monument to what amounts to extortion. Build the same amount in housing. Instant value to many who actually helped fund it, that last way beyond the trucks pulling away and the ribbon cutting.

NYS state budget meeting with regards to new stadium.
Mr. WEO replied to clearwater cadet's topic in The Stadium Wall
As your link spells out in its headline: "state is NOT historically a big funder of stadiums".. Posters who keep on tossing out Mets and Yankees should spend a little more time reading about how those stadiums were actually funded. lol--the state of the Pegula Lifestyle Fund, perhaps.. -
Who wouldn't tune into a game because of the announcers? I don't understand that.
-
So construction for construction's sake? Just build something to reap some small local bump unto the project is completed? Why not build something with value? You get the construction period increase in the local economy ands then the intrinsic value the structure you paid to have built? Isn't that intuitively a better way to spend the money?
-
the topic is how the Rams put together that team and whether its sustainable. A one and done may or may not be satisfactory ROI. Adding Wagner doesn't equal balling out, unless you mean in winning the off season. They used 2 different approaches to those SBs..
-
had to lol

Than a publicly funded NFL stadium? The funded stadium as a local economic stimulant has been disproven for years---and it has been posted one here endlessly. Considering how they are used (spare us the tired old "stadium concerts and bowl games" stuff), it an extremely limited use object that generates zero revenue for nearly every day of its existence. It's an asset that has almost no value other than to it's sole rent paying tenant for which it was built.
