Florio: Brady to the Dolphins "Definitely on the Table"
Mr. WEO replied to Nextmanup's topic in The Stadium Wall
The point was that both were top 10 picks who were soon dumped by their drafting teams. Rosen was so awful his rookie year, AZ sent him packing. Darnold wasn'r near;y as bad---but he too was shown the door. The same team looks ready to do the same thing with the guy that followed Darnold. It therefore would not be precedent setting---it will have happened 3 times in 3 years. -

SF is paying a kid beer money to play 100 times better than Lance. That in itself is pretty interesting, funny too. -
They may have folded this year in the face of adversity if they had won 2 SBs? I don't see how or why that would follow.

Zach Wilson is the abject lesson to cut your losses and move on. Money comes a lot easier than do wins in the NFL. -
Moulds over Lofton---the latter was a Packer first and foremost--by far his best years were there. Mediocre stats in Buffalo. Kyle should go up.

What ownership has hired him since then as their HC? That's what we are talking about, not QB coach. He wasn't Stafford's QB anyway. And certainly Manning continued on his HOF career for years after Caldwell was no longer his "QB coach". Before that he had a 4400+ season, after that, he had 4500 and 4700. Let me check their stats with Jimbo as HC: Manning was 85-27 under Dungy. 48-26 with Caldwell. "After he left", Manning was no longer with the Colts, but he did set a single season record in Denver, also won a SB. "After he left", Colts with Pagano had 3 11-5 seasons in a row with a new QB. Stafford had 3 of his biggest seasons passing all in a row---which ended the year Caldwell arrived. "After he left", Stafford was back to his baseline in 2020 (he was injured 2019).
-
where did he ever "create a culture"? He walked into an established winning machine in Indy. The culture of Caldwell was enough to get him fired after 4 seasons in Detroit and no team has sought it out since then. Unless you are redefining the word, Caldwell is the opposite of "panache". He has been likened to a mannequin. Andy Reid couldn't be more different than Caldwell. I've been critical of Reid as HC in the past before he (finally) won a SB, but the guy is a solid Offensive mind and play caller.

He stood there and watched HOFer Manning and a stacked Offense win games. When Manning went down, they went straight to 2-14. With Stafford, he had 2 playoff games in 4 years and lost them both. Neither Stafford nor Manning are walking through that Bears locker room door next season. Instead they have an option QB with mediocre talent crawling into his third season. What on earth is a 67 year old who hasn't head coached in 6 years and has been out for the league for 3 going to do for this kid?

Will DeAndre Hopkins be available this offseason?

catch him on the right day on his juicing/testing schedule and I bet he's available. -
see above. "competitive" is almost a meaningless term in the NFC. Tampa is in the playoffs (that's competitive!)---actually winning their division with a losing record. Packers were facing a "win and you're in" game with only 8 wins. The 9-8 Seahawks (led by Geno Smith!!!) got in courtesy of Detroit (9-7) beating an awful Aaron Rodgers and his DOA Packer team (in 'Legendary Lambeau Field"). Washing stinks. Ron is long past his freshness date. He's a relic and those kind of guys are only still around if they were game changers/SB winners. Even some of them (BB) are pretty much done. Riverboat Ron brings nothing.
-
The awfulness of the NFC got him to the playoffs (with a 7-9 record). He has zero winning seasons there. he has 3 winning seasons in a 12 year HC career. He rode Cam Newton into the ground with 3 playoff wins to show for it. lol Carr is gonna be the guy who makes Ron into a relevant coach again? Like Wentz? Look at who Rivera has brought in at QB: Wentz, Heinicke, Garrett Gilbert, Kyle Allen, Sam Howell, and Fitzy (the best of that bunch). So now all he is really missing is a guy like Carr, a guy who has burned through a bunch of HCs. nah..
