even for a positive thinking player like EJ, it's only normal that brief moments of self doubt enter your mind when you are listed as 3rd string on the depth chart and the team brings in 3 new qb's to compete for the job. a comment like i can play in this league either here or for another team is a bit of a self defense mechanism which is really saying he still firmly believes in himself.

EJ's contract is FULLY guaranteed for this year & next. there is no advantage to cutting him, unless you think he isn't even a good 3rd string qb. then you need to pay his replacement.

ding ding ding. EJ is 3rd on depth chart because that is exactly where he belongs. i don't think he gets cut because his contract is fully guaranteed and he is a nice #3.

rex probably told tyrod it would be an open competition in the recruiting process. i could easily see rex keeping up the "facade" in order to keep his word.

#1- it would be shocking if roman & rex don't already know who the week 1 starter is, they just aren't saying. #2- with this group of QB's, it will be a season long "competition", no ones job is safe and secure.
