  1. They will also be relying on turning the Bills offense over in prime scoring position.
  2. Again, total yards are deceptive. The Bills offense tends to hog the ball to protect the defense. Complimentary football. The Bills defense gives up 5.6 yards per play. That’s currently 22nd out of 31 teams. Also, they haven’t won a game when they scored fewer than 28 points. That’s below average no matter how you try to spin it.
  3. You can’t look at total passing yards per game as a metric because opponents run it so well that they pass less often. If you look at things like yards per attempt, then the Bills have a pretty average pass defense.
  4. If it were that simple, the Bills would have done it by now. This is a passing league with tons of spread formations, mobile QBs, and quick throws. Lining up with 8 or 9 players in the box and then blitzing to try and stop the pass seems like suicide to me. As another poster said above, that may have worked in 1984 but those days are long gone.
  5. Don’t count Cincinnati out with Burrow coming back.
  6. The crazy part is that the offense didn’t play anywhere close to a perfect game today and still put up 44 points vs a decent defense.
  7. They don’t have the players without overcommitting the secondary, and that opens them up to big passing plays which McD will absolutely not allow. So I think we’re just going to have to live with it until next season.
  8. It’s supposed to be faster than the refs dragging the chains out but it doesn’t seem to be.
  9. He’s a solid #4 WR. Decent receiver and plays ST too.
  10. Yes. He’s been average this season. He’s gotten beat plenty.
  11. Helps that both Evans and Godwin are out.
  12. Part time. Swapped with White.
  13. When you say “better than average”, that would mean that there are more teams in the NFL with worse talent on defense than better. I don’t think that’s remotely true.
  14. Good returns. The fumble really hurt though.
  15. I think you are overestimating the talent. Bosa is good vs pass, bad vs run. Benford, Rousseau and Epenesa are average. Hairston, Bishop and Walker may be good but are inconsistent right now. OTOH, you have Poyer, Bernard, Milano, Jones, and Johnson all staring and all below average.
  16. Stop the run with a light box and high safeties. Pressure the QB with a four man rush. Give up no big plays. problem is, you need at least 2 app pro DL to make that work and they don’t have them. Not even close.
  17. The talent is there. I’ve always thought that if he committed himself to being in top physical condition he could be in the top two or three.
  18. I wonder how much of that is because the Tampa RBs were constantly into the secondary on their runs.
  19. That’s a group with two #3 WRs outside in Davis and Palmer and maybe a #4 in Moore. I’m not sure that’s average but I guess it is a step up from horrible.
  20. Things that would help the Bills passing game, IMO. 1. A big, physical, #1 WR who can block AND take the top off a defense (example: Mike Evans). I know, what offense wouldn’t that help, right? But since the Bills only play one WR with 3 TE so much it would really help them for that WR to be good. Right now it’s Coleman. 2. Kincaid staying healthy. He’s their only downfield threat right now. 3. True speed on the outside. Multiple players. Maybe they get them a big play, but if not at least they can force defenses into deep zones and open things up for the TEs underneath and the running game. 4. A new OC.
  21. Blocking. And that means a lot to Brady.
  22. I think you nailed it. Aging roster + smaller players = higher injury risk. It’s obviously not 100% guaranteed but it’s a major factor, IMO. That’s two more than Kevin Kolb or Shawn Merriman ever got.
  23. They went from Daboll to this. Quite the reactionary response.
  24. Complimentary football.
