As was indicated in the Buffalo News article, there's no way that he signs here unless we trade either Jackson or Lynch. Either way, it's a downgrade a running back... but hey, maybe we'll get some draft picks so that we can address this new weakness that we created.
-
This is about the only thing that makes sense as to why we wouldn't want or be able to sign Crowell. Otherwise, it's just ineptitude IMO. Actually, it's ineptitude anyway as to the way the surgery and IR was handled. It probably cost us another good player. Oh well, back to the draft board...

I'm surprised that people don't think a little more of Crowell. We really have a need at outside linebacker and he was pretty good when he was healthy. He would be a huge upgrade over Ellison and with his injury history, I'll bet we can retain him relatively cheaply. Otherwise, it's just another need position to fill. We have enough of those.

I think that Bills would do far better focusing on the draft than on free agents, especially big name ones. This is especially true as a small market team. John Madden always says that free agents hurt the team that they leave more than they help the team they go to and I agree with him. They are usually expensive players and there's no way to know what the "fit" will be like with a new team. You are essentially paying for what they did at their previous team without knowing if they can do it for yours (different system, coaches, teammates, etc.).

Browns are trying to trade Derek Anderson
vincec replied to bananathumb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah. I'd take Anderson. He's still young and has produced in one season at least, so it's possible that he can do it again in this league. He would be competition for Trent an Dick likes that. You can't give up too much for him though. I think a 5th is about right straight up. We could work out some kind of package deal though. As has been mentioned, he would have to redo his contract. I also like the Culpepper idea. I'm sure that he didn't forget how to play (see Kurt Warner) and he was never that mobile to start with. He would definitely provide the veteran presence that Dick says he is looking for. He would need to come in with the right attitude though. That's my biggest concern. -
Huh? I thought we were talking about football...

My thoughts exactly.

Steve Johnson = Larry Fitzgerald
vincec replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. -
I agree completely about Dockery, but I think that Langston Walker has played pretty well and definitely lived up to his contract, which is smaller than Dockery's. I'm surprised to hear people picking on him.

Lets see how many of you can guess our new #2 QB
vincec replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know that I've posted this before, but trust me, I live in Charlotte and watched David Carr start almost half the season last year. He is not an NFL quarterback. -

Actually, I agree with this. All of the realistic FA options have their own set of fleas, so you might as well take someone who is young and economical. -

Trent Edwards interview with Mike Francesa
vincec replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting interview. Right on with your analysis. Nothing that a great season can't fix, however. -
No. This game needs to be cancelled. It's absolutely the worst of the all start games. Practically no strategy, everyone who doesn't cop out with some excuse is scared to get hurt, practically no real hitting, it's played after the season is over... It's basically a pickup game in the park, which may be ok for baseball or basketball but is not really what football is about. Once you take the physicality out of football, it's not the same game. BTW- I love that Lou Holtz quote about your problems. I really looked forward to his "Dr. Lou" segments this year. That dude is surprisingly funny. The one about how he used to get his QB to throw fewer interceptions is the best...

BRING CHRISS SIMMS IN FOR INSURANCE
vincec replied to DERRICK O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I live in Charlotte and witnessed the David Carr debacle last year. I was pretty excited when they brought him in, but Carr was so bad that most people were happy to see Matt Moore (the third string quarterback) go in after Carr got injured. In fact, many people credibly believed that the coaching staff exaggerated his injury so that they could bench him for the remainder of the season without publicly destroying his reputation. -
Weeb Ewbank.

Why would you cut Kelsay before you have a replacement? Especially if it saves no money? The best approach is to bring in new players and let them compete for playing time. If someone beats out Kelsay, then Kelsay is the backup. If he's unhappy with that, trade him or cut him next year.

I'm not sure where this "bust" thing is coming from. I hear people saying that they were disappointed with his season, but I didn't hear anyone call him a "bust". He will be given more time to develop, but remember that this is the NFL (Not For Long) and he needs to show something soon. I was concerned on draft day when I kept hearing the Bills describe him as a "red zone specialist" and "big bodied possession receiver". I think that if you are looking for such specific player types when you draft in the NFL you take the risk of "reaching" for a player. Just draft the best receiver/player available and adjust your offense to suit his particular skill set. I'm not sure that Hardy was the best receiver available when we took him. Hopefully he will develop into exactly what the Bills were looking for...

So where were all of the Kurt Warner lovers last year or the year before? Arizona was trying to turn their offense over to Matt Leinart. This just goes to show the "what have you done for me lately" spirit of the NFL and its fans. As Al Davis once said, great players don't just forget how to play in the offseason.
-
The visual of this is really funny... but who would play Gene Rayburn?
-
LOL. That's how the best ideas are born!
-
If Kurt Warner retires, Arizona will win 5 games next year...
-
Throw it up... maybe twice
-
Time for the homerun throwback...

Not a lot of Steeler fans I see.
