  1. Actually, according to the article Sapp's average monthly income is $115,881. I didn't make that in 2009 and 2010 combined and I didn't have to declare bankruptcy.
  2. Obviously you can't do a straight average for the overall GPA. If you did it like that you'd have to get an elite NFL player in every round to get an A for the overall draft, which is unrealistic. Based on the way you're grading things I suspect that 90% of the teams in the league would be between F and C- for every draft they've every had.
  3. A lot of defense is instinct and reacting on the fly to what the opposing team is doing. On offense things are more scripted so it's much better suited to a player like Jasper with limited experience. OT requires much more technique than OG so I think that the Bills got it right. If Jasper has any chance to make it then it will be at OG.
  4. I'm sure that all of this is not that unusual. I knew high school coaches who said similar things to their players. I think that every coach needs to decide what his/her message and legacy is going to be to his players and the game. Does he want to be remembered as a teacher, mentor and leader or as a win at all costs fanatic who has limited perspective about life. I think of the way coaches like John Wooden, Red Auerbach and even Marv Levy ("don't play dumb, don't play dirty") are talked about by their former players. I wonder how many players will look back in 20 years and think of how Gregg Williams positively influenced their lives?
  5. Nice. The obvious difference being that at Nuremberg, the defendants were shown to have committed the crimes and then said that they were just following orders whereas here it can't really be shown that anyone deliberately injured an opposing player (for the bounty or for any other reason). I think that if you could show that someone deliberately injured an opposing player he would be severely punished and saying that his coach told him to do so would not get him out of it.
  6. Thanks. I think that Nucci is going to hook me up. If something falls through I'll message you.
  7. I know. But the game seems to have been forgotten. Not even a clip on YouTube except for when Montana got KO'd. Didn't the Bills rush for over 400 yards? And the only clip is on the opposing QB? Funny.
  8. I have been trying to find video highlights or extended statistics/recap for this game for some time now with no luck. Does anybody have any leads on where I might find something? Thanks!
  9. I think that I could cover Ochocinco at this point in his career. I find it even funnier that some posters are saying that Ochocinco is a hall of fame candidate. If Chris Carter and Andre Reed can't make the hall of fame then Ochocinco doesn't stand a rats chance in hell.
  10. Exactly. Please don't draft another RB. Use the pick for something that might prove remotely useful.
  11. He looks like a much better prospect than Thigpen and a better "wildcat" QB than Brad Smith, so I don't see how he wouldn't improve the team. Plus he is actually a legitimate future prospect, albeit with mixed opinions about him. The only way it becomes a "circus" is if Fitz stinks things up, in which case why not put in his backup?
  12. Too bad. I for one would prefer if the AFC East was the toughest division in the NFL. You get better by facing the best competition. Not to mention that the games would be more entertaining.
  13. I was surprised to see him let go. They had some problems last season due to injury but now the Bills appear solid at the interior line.
  14. I don't give him one. Nor for totally collapsing from a leadership standpoint as the ship sunk last season. So far he has proven to be a good offensive coordinator and a good game manager but there's a lot more to being a championship head coach than that.
  15. I say take the best available player between LT, WR and RDE. I still hold out hope for signing Bell to a contract with incentives tied to playing time. I would think that a short deal like this could potentially benefit Bell as well because if he can show that he can stay healthy for a couple of seasons then he may garner more interest on the open market.
  16. I wonder if he may very well be the Bills starting RDE. a) Merriman is a shadow of his former self and is pretty much done. b) Kelsay has never played on the right side and will struggle with yet another change of position. c) Edwards has played better than Carrington or Johnson. I don't see this as an crazy scenario, unless the Bills just cut him for cost reasons or (hopefully) draft a RDE prospect.
  17. Making lots of tackles is bad. This has already been discussed on this board in the myriad of Donte Whitner threads. Apparently, what you want is players who are so good that they never have to make tackles. The offensive players just surrender from fear.
  18. Well since the top 5 defenses in the NFL last season were 3-4s I don't see how you can say that the 3-4 has been passed by. I think that what Wannstadt is expressing is his long standing belief that you can't fool the top offenses with blitzes. You need to be able to beat them 1 v 1. I've heard him express this view from back in his Dallas days so I don't think it's a new development.
  19. I would love to have Bell back for the short term help, but I can't envision him as a long term solution. He is just too injury prone- and he is only 28!. Imagine what will happen as he starts to age and is affected by wear and tear. Maybe if he signed to a contract with significant incentives for playing time it would be worth the risk. Otherwise, I think the Bills should probably just give up on Bell and try and draft a new prospect.
  20. Who is going to play RDE? It's the premium pass rushing position on the defense and the Bills have bupkis there. Kelsay is an average LDE so it's unlikely that he will look better against the offense's premium lineman. Merriman is the best hope but he will be lucky to last 4 games. Carrington hasn't shown anything to this point. Right now it looks like LDE by committee with Carrington / Johnson playing on rushing downs and Kelsay / Merriman coming in on passing downs. That doesn't fill me with confidence. They still need to think about drafting a RDE prospect. The Bills also need a starting WR and a legitimate LT prospect. I see these as the top three picks in the draft, in whatever order.
  21. If Schobel came back AND could play near his previous level it would be a very tough pass rush with Williams - Dareus - Williams - Schobel. Frankly, however, I think that Merriman and Kelsay have a better chance to get double digit sacks next season than Schobel, at his age and with his being out of shape and out of practice and all.
  22. Carrington, Jasper and Easley. Three mainstays of the all fan team that haven't done a thing on the field.
  23. People just like Carrington because he's not Kelsay. It doesn't matter that he hasn't done a thing or even shown any signs of doing anything. Maybe the Bills should start Carrington and Johnson and then bring in Williams and Kelsay in passing situations.
  24. This. I haven't seen anything that would remotely lead me to believe that Carrington is in any way a better DE than Kelsay. Frankly, I think that Spencer Johnson has been better than Carrington at DE and DT so he is WAY down on the depth chart in my book. Interesting. Says who?
