I knew this was coming, especially after all of those candidates that were good coaches (Horton, Caldwell, and ESPECIALLY Smith) were bypassed for overhyped names. Yeah, call it the "year of the avoid retread coaches", but to me it is incredibly sad and points to a systematic racial bias, and I'm white. Not hiring Lovie Smith was a HUGE alarm for me.

I was shocked to find out that Buffalo was getting an ABA team for 2013, because normally the subject would pop up somewhere, but it is real. Effectively Jim Caldwell, Romeo Crennel, and Lovie Smith are all out of a job so far... and now no new replacement minority hires. This leaves just three- Lewis, Tomlin, and Frazier. This still does not explain the complete failure of a QB school USC has been in the NFL!! Mark Sanchez, Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, Sean Salisbury, Rodney Peete, Pat Haden, Matt Cassel, Bill Nelsen, Pete Beathard, Vince Evans, Paul McDonald, Todd Marinovich, Rob Johnson AND John David Booty. Yeah, he gave us free exposure in his press conference, and it was funny to watch... they already have a DC ready to sign TODAY.

Names like Leonhard, Greer, Hangartner, etc. were some of those 'guys' at one time and they not only made rosters, but made their teams better. Face it, we have been the Black Hole of retaining young talent.
