  1. damn dude. why don't you go drink a little and relax?
  2. CBS Sports' Mike Freeman reports that ESPN color analyst Jon Gruden will interview for NFL head coaching jobs this offseason. Gruden has stated publicly that he intends to remain at ESPN, but Freeman reports that teams have been "quietly" contacting him "over the past few weeks," and Philly as well as San Diego are potential landing spots. Per Freeman, Gruden could begin substantive talks with teams as soon as Monday, and is interested in a return to the sidelines "if the right job opens up." Updating previous items, Cleveland is not expected to make a run at Gruden because he's long had a frosty relationship with new Browns president Joe Banner.
  3. regarding Jay Gruden: Bengals total yards/game: 22nd in NFL (bills were 19th!); Cincy was at least 12th in scoring. contrast that to Kyle Shanahan: Redskins 4th in pts/game and 5th in yds/game..with a rookie QB. Granted RGIII isn't your normal rookie QB, but you gotta give shanahan some credit for working to his strengths.
  4. while he has groomed Dalton, he's got some serious talent on offense there and the cincy offense has seriously struggled at times this season...i wouldn't be upset with jay, but i have my reservations.
  5. i'd like: 1. lovie smith 2. kyle shanahan 3. andy reid 4. roman 5. gruden (jay)
  6. how in the world did he "mangle" the Vick situation? Please explain.
  7. highly unlikely...but you never know.
  8. Agreed man. OP pretty much got everyone i would've mentioned.
  9. No specific order: Te'o - LB Bjoern Werner - DE Dee Milliner - CB Luke Joeckel - OT some of those haven't declared yet for the draft but if they do, I'd be happy with ANY of them at 8.
  10. one thing i liked from the offense today, besides the specific attempt to get cj the ball was that we called up some deep pass plays to Graham and SJ...though i think only SJ's was completed, we finally took some shots. too bad it's week 17.
  11. I'm happy with this win. Beating the Jets is always more important than a drop of 3 or 5 spots on draft day. Good win for the entire team today.
  12. Last 2 seasons: 8-6 over first half of season (2 byes) 3-14 over final half of season (1 game remaining @ Jets) That disparity is pretty drastic. It tells me the following: 1. This team still lacks quality depth. We have 0 depth at QB, WR, DB, LB and the O-line depth is average at best. As injuries are bound to happen, we can't fill them in. Good job Nix. 2. The coaching staff - mainly Chan - apparently can't adapt during the season. Good job Chan. 3. This team is mentally weak. As the season progresses and the going gets tough, this team gets going..right into the crapper. Though many of us, including myself, don't realize it at times, this team does have a decent amount of talent. What we need more than any single player is better quality depth on the roster as a whole and better coaching.
  13. i'd rather pay Fitzpatrick 10.45 and draft a QB where the contracts are a lot cheaper than they were a few years ago as opposed to cutting Fitzpatrick, taking the cap hit, and still having to sign 2 quarterbacks.
  14. this board is getting nuttier by the day.
  15. that's what i'm saying, thigpen is gone and then you cut Fitz..where the hell is our QB depth? We're going to put all our marbles on a rookie QB from day 1 with no competition? Again, none of the QB's this year are "can't miss" QB's. They're all a bit of a project. Keep Fitz. He's a stand up guy and not an A$$...he shouldn't cause much trouble. He's the perfect backup actually. Heck, maybe ask him if he'd be willing to restructure his contract. if that's the case, why not cut CJ, Mario, Dareus, KW, actually, cut the entire team..they all have the same record the last 3 years as fitz.
  16. i'd keep him. draft a QB in rounds 1-3 and let them compete. QB's in the draft don't cost as much as they used to. Thigpen should be gone. If we cut Fitz and draft a QB, who's going to be our backup? None of the QB's in this year's drafts are "no-brainers" so there's a good chance that the rookie may seriously struggle early on. I'd much rather start fitz for first half of season (when the bills usually do well) and if the season starts going downhill, you plug in the rookie to see what he can do after learning for half the season. Only way i'd let go of Fitz is if we are able to land another QB via trade AND draft a QB...but if we're only drafting a QB, you HAVE to keep fitz imo.
  17. i watched at least 5-6 of his games at auburn (i have the college package) and probably about another 8-10 games since he's been in the nfl (i have sunday ticket). i've watched plenty of Cam. i don't deny his talent, but i'm telling you that there's SOMETHING that is still missing from that guy and it's not physical....
  18. Talking the talk would be actually winning and not posting a 6-9 record after your second year. I mean fair is fair, if we're going to judge our team on wins and losses and not stats, we might as well judge other teams' players as well by the same standard. Every panthers fan I know (2 to be exact..lol) have both admitted that Cam has been a bit of a letdown thus far. This is not to say he sucks though.. We also have a carolina poster on this board (forget his name) who was growing tired of Cam's act. This was about 5 weeks ago, so maybe some of their recent winning has changed his mood a bit...i dunno. Again, next season will be a criitcal season for Cam and the Panthers organization.
  19. for full disclosure, i never liked Cam Newton. Didn't like him in college and he's done very little in the NFL for me to start liking him. That being said, i'm not rooting for the guy to fail. As a fan of the sport, I'd simply like him to start getting his act together. He's got the ability to be just as explosive, if not more so than RGIII. Still, I would give my right nut to have RGIII, but I don't know if i'd give much to have Cam. If you're the Panthers right now, after two seasons, you still have a lot of questions about your franchise. Next year is going to be a huge year for Cam..we'll see how he handles that pressure as the fans in Carolina are going to start getting restless unless they start winning soon.
  20. 4 of the bills losses this year are by 7 points or less.. i hear everything you say and don't necessarily disagree that much..just trying to avoid the grass is greener syndrome.
  21. ya, that's the route i'd go as well. I'd take the best defensive player available in the 1st (even if it's a CB), and then go QB in the second round or even 3rd round. i really don't think there's that much of a difference between the "top" 2 QB's and the 3-5 QB's in this draft. I really don't.
