Time for A. Williams, Searcy, Meeks, and Duke Williams to step up next year.

He's gone. I don't blame him. I would want a shot at winning something before I retire.

Kyle Williams: "There will be changes here"
bobobonators replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Man this board is gonna explode at this rate. Kyle Willams bashing and Dareus bashing - two of our better players on defense. Yes, Kyle Williams has been on some miserable defenses. Kyle Williams fills one hole on a board consisting of 11 holes. There are 3 to 4 critical holes that play behind KW. Unfortunately, for the past decade, we haven't had a single quality player in any of those holes. Kiko has shown flashes of being a playmaker but he has also shown flashes of being extremely blown out of a play. Lets face it, Hughes has been explosive and great at sacking the QB - but he's a specialist/tweener and not a 3 down LB. Bradham/Moats have no business starting in this league. Can contribute on special teams and maybe serve as depth, but starters? Nope. Lawson is another tweener who played DE in college, though Lawson has shown enough in the NFL to at least be considered somewhat reliable as a 3 down back. We need LB's. -
Ya i know. Makes so much sense man. Seems like it would be a great fit on this defense w pettine. But then again, we'd probably have to blow him out of the water to go from 10-6 arizona w beautiful weather to 6-10 buffalo and crap weather.

Two words: Karlos Dansby. This guy is a beast who continues to get better, like a fine wine. Hes exactly what we need on the inside. Give him a multi year deal and retire w bills.

I'll give you that. We don't know. Neither do you. Benching a Pro Bowl DT for an entire Quarter is stiff. There better be a damned good reason. Benching a Pro Bowl DT an entire Half vs the New England Patriots is nuts. There better be a damned better reason. The key again to me is that Dareus is arguably having his best season with the Bills. He's performing on the field. There are plenty of players that are starting on this team who I suppose arrive on time to meetings but then suck on the field. (TJ Graham, Chandler, Stevie (at times), etc). Sit them a half and spare us fans the ironclad fist approach. -

I agree that some of those options are just silly. But Graham/Bradham/Chandler are legit options to go/upgrade, IMO. -

If Marrone has another 6 win (or worse) season next year, he has to go. He hasn't done anything in the NFL, or even college for that matter, to give him an obligatory 3/4 years to get it going. We wanted the arrow to at least point UP this season. The arrow right now is at best, neutral. Rex Ryan with absolutely NO TALENT on offense still manages to finish 8-8 within the same division. Rex Ryan would get a hell of a lot more out of this roster, IMO. Marrone has been underwhelming in his first season. -

Greg Hardy benched 2 snaps for being "late" (and fined). Not an ENTIRE QUARTER/HALF. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/12/02/greg-hardy-benched-two-snaps-for-being-late-to-meeting/ -

There is more than one way to teach someone a lesson or make an example. 1. Fine the player; 2. Make an example of him at practice by giving him more drills; 3. Do both #1 and #2 and bench him for a series or two..not an entire quarter or an entire half You guys remember when Wes Welker ran his mouth a few years ago about Rex and his foot fetish? BB benched him for a single series and was back on the field for the second possession of the game. Benching one of the best players on Defense for an entire quarter or an entire half is cutting off your nose to spite your face. In the end, it literally hurts the entire team more than Dareus being "late" to a meeting. -

Nick Saban can motivate premier talent. His players go to the NFL and become pro bowlers. Marrone has never won anything as a HC. Anywhere. His players from Syracuse are nowhere to be seen. Respect goes both ways and "buying into something" goes both ways. Why should anyone buy into Marrone and even worse, Hackett? -
dude what did you expect? we've been 6-10 or 7-9 for like the last 5 years. And THAT is exactly what pisses me off. Look at the Texans. They go from making the playoffs to the #1 pick. They'll probably be back in the playoffs next year again. We can't even lose right.

Yes I would and do. Fact of life: A cashier at starbucks being habitually late to work = fired. A superb attorney for a top law firm coming late yet still producing for the firm's clients = raise. Its not "fair" but who cares about fairness when winning or making money is on the line. Football is not exactly the same, but similar. Star athletes are not always held to the same petty standards as average players for obvious reasons. The only "lesson" Marrone showed Dareus yesterday is how critical Dareus is to this D-line. Benching a professional player like this is a college move. This isnt college. -

I think the legitimate issue yesterday was Dareus not starting. Like beerball stated, yes we're all adults and making an appt/meeting on time is important. That being said, in the real world people arent treated equally either. The star attorney, accountant, investment banker are treated differently than a paralegal, entry level analyst and secretary and for good reason - the former are essential and the latter are expendable. Dareus is essential. And unless he committed such an egregious violation of team rules, yesterdays benching and the week prior are unnecessary and petty especially since hes contributed on the field and has had probably his best season. I also find it interesting that this is happening now, when we've been eliminated from the playoffs. Did dareus just start doing whateve hes done over the past few weeks? Or is Marrone just trying to act like a tough guy when nothing is on the line? I dont like it. -

Good post. However, I think the biggest problem we have against the run is a LB corps that is extremely subpar. We have a rookie LB and two other LB that should be nothing more than special teams. They are unable to fill the gaps and a 3-4 yard run easily turns into a 10-15 yd run.
