  1. It's true that he'd only had one season where he started, but the idea was he was stuck behind a quality guy and only started due to injury. I guess if there was a reason to believe he would re-injure himself, it was a bad idea, but do you have reason to think the Bills medical staff took a risk there? Aren't broken bones normally 1-offs? I disagree on the "bum" and "useless" part, but he didn't become the quality guy that one good year led us to think he might.
  2. Got to think that chance to work with Josh was a big factor.
  3. That may depend upon how much they like Sweeney, and whether they think Nate Becker has shown anything? Isn't Becker supposed to be the blocking TE? Unless someone they feel is a true potential upgrade to Knox falls to them in the draft, then who knows!!!! HO! I recognize those numbers! Cheaper than you know, in terms of cap hit. That there, my friends, is a 1 year contract that is only gonna cost the Bills a cap hit of $850,000. Vet Salary Benefit contract.
  4. You made me snort coffee. And yeah, I got the same reaction to the lawyer. He reminds me of something I'd prefer to avoid stepping in.
  5. I don't know. More than 265 maybe? If someone turns out to have a repeating pattern of behavior, why is it the number of repeats that's suspicious, and not the behavior? Again: I am not saying Watson did these things. I find this specific lawyer distasteful, and not credible in his press/SM appearances. But in the end, it's not about the lawyer's sleaze factor, it's about whether or not the accusers are credible and whether/how much corroborating evidence there may be. And that's unknown at present. Larry Nassar was accused of sexual abuse by more than 265 different women over more than 2 decades - who didn't say anything, until someone did. And there turned out to be immense amounts of evidence, some kept by Nassar himself. 😱 Again to be clear, I'm not saying Watson is anything like Larry Nassar, or that he even abused 1 woman in any way at this point. I'm just saying that the idea that a large number of women may individually experience abuse yet also individually make "career decisions" to keep quiet, see-and-avoid, and keep on keepin' on does not seem hard to reconcile to me, given other cases that have come out.
  6. I'm having trouble parsing this. Do you mean "better Kroft go to the Jets, than Hollister go to the Jets"? Or do you mean Kroft is better than Hollister? Because if that latter is what you mean, I believe you may be mistaken. At least, let's put it this way. Tyler Kroft's absolute best season, the season that got him the big contract with B'lo, was in 2017: He was the starter for 14.5 games and put up 42 receptions for 404 yds, 67.7% catch (28.6 ypg as a starter). He's had 3 seasons since then to show it wasn't a fluke. 🦗🦗 Jacob Hollister's absolute best season was in 2019 after Seattle traded for him in his 3rd year. He put up 41 receptions for 349 yds, 69.5% catch (31.7 ypg, 34.9 ypg as a starter). Then he came back last year behind Olsen, only saw about half the targets in 11 games, and still put up 25 receptions for 209 yds, which is ~ the same production per playing time. So at least he showed he can play consistently. I'm not saying he's Henry or Waller or we should go have a parade, but he's at least a push to Kroft and I think he has a bit more "dawg" to him. $2M with additional $1M in incentives.
  7. Cover1 putting up a little Emmanuel Sanders tape (Note the Jersey tug, to which Sanders seems to say "What jersey tug?") And this one from last year: Not sure who that Vikes DB is, but someone could Photoshop a piece of toast over him. Something tells me Daboll is licking his chops over the playbook possibilities:
  8. I don't think he's Juszcyk? Juszcyk takes handoffs sometimes. Maybe I don't understand what you mean, which makes me sad because I'd like you to be right about the first two sentences. I, too, am hopeful it will light a bit fire under Knox because I think perhaps he built a bit of a bond with Allen and may have relied on it a bit in lieu of "Do Work" - but Hollister has some good history with Allen as well.
  9. That musta been like Allen's first year in Wyo or something. He looks tiny next to Ol' "Suns Out, Guns Out" there
  10. There was a point where his Instagram relaxed a bit from clips showing him working out with a frenzy and doing 48" box jumps (!!!!). He put up clips of himself salsa-dancing with a number of friends and at a houseparty. At the same time Dion Dawkins put up a clip of himself salsa dancing during one of his workouts and captioned it "Gooo Goooooo Gadget!". I think McKenzie may have received a minimal offer from the Bills at that point and been happy because it means his football career has a chance to continue....but I also think he's hoping for a better offer with a couple years and with some guarantees. My guess is that his offer from the Bills (if he has one) would have been a VSB offer, meaning the Bills pay him $0.99M salary with no more than $137.5 in additional bonuses, but the cap charge would only be $850k, and I think it would also have been made saying it's gonna be a chance to come into camp and compete, not "we see you having an increased role on ST and in our offense next year"
  11. I think Beane would consider that too high a price to pay for an $8M 1 year rental of a guy who'll turn 31 during the season. But that's just my view. Maybe he believes he can coax a 3rd out of the Colts or another team where the big salary isn't so problematic
  12. Yes. Yes, he was. Yolo quoted that upthread. Contradictory.
  13. The alleged victim's name became public information in the Jameis Winston investigation, and she reportedly received death threats as well as abuse calling her a "slut" and a "*****", and she wound up dropping out of school and leaving the area. As to the police investigation, it featured officers discouraging the alleged victim: “This is a huge football town. You really should think long and hard if you want to press charges.” I'm not saying Winston was guilty of rape, but there were all kinds of deviations between good investigative procedure and how the police conducted that investigation. She later won a civil settlement of $950,000 with the school (it included commitments to conduct sexual assault awareness and prevention programs) and settled with Winston in a civil lawsuit she filed. My point is that there are all kinds of well documented reasons why a person who believes they have experienced a sexual assault by a famous and popular figure might not choose to contact police. As for the lawyer: criminal lawyers need to be paid up front. Civil litigation lawyers work on contingency. I have no opinion one way or the other as to whether the claims are legit because to date, we lack information that would allow us to make any kind of determination. I think the lawyer is a sleeze, and I base that on his conduct as one of the lawyers in the Mario Williams case and on how he's appearing on social media in this.
  14. It's OK. We have been placated by him trying it, and saying it doesn't taste like rotten milk. He has paid homage to Buffalo traditions, like going to Newfoundland and kissing the Cod. Sanders Winner of the contest for #10 between Fromm, Trubisky, and Sanders
  15. Sounds as though he would definitely upgrade the Bills' 12 Days of Christmas chops.... I think maybe he doesn't understand the term "H-back" so provided that.
  16. He didn't say "more of a running back". He sayd "H-back type", the role Demarco filled and they sometimes had Knox or Kroft lined up as. Here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H-back He said "improve the running game", he didn't say "carry the ball". One problem with in our run game was that our run blocking by the TE (or H-back) was questionable and inconsistent last year.
  17. Fair point. I think Matakevich and Smith are looked at as developmental linebackers. They saw extensive playing time against Miami; Dodson was healthy so I think the former has overtaken Dodson as the primary backup to Edmunds. It's pretty common for teams to play developmental linebackers on ST. Smith fits the Pittsburgh "Linebacker U" profile of a player who sits in the room and plays scout team/ST for a couple years then in his 3rd/4th year starts mixing it in. Matakevich is a bit longer in the tooth to be considered there. He was 100% recruited for his ST chops, I give you that. Dean Marlowe is the backup safety and saw extensive snaps on defense when Hyde was injured in a game. He had an important role as such, and also regularly saw defensive snaps in different formations. Gilliam was a rookie, and regularly saw offensive snaps - 5%-ish at the start of the season and 10-20% until he got injured. I don't see how you can call him a "ST specific type player", he seems like the reverse, the cheap rookie you want them to fill out the ST roster with while he's learning the game and seeing if he can take a step. I think you're padding your list above to get to that figure. Teams need backups at positions like LB and safety. Roberts, Taiwan Jones (the gunner) and Matakevich are genuinely players who were brought in for their ST chops alone. But 3.7% vs 5% seems like a quibble to me.
